The first time I consecrated myself and my future (specifically my education, my career, my going to the full-time training) to the Lord was at the age of 15. I was told that I need to renew my consecration everyday by the serving brother who spoke the message regarding consecration. As time passed, somehow l slacked. It’s so good a young brother (O.M.) initiated this declaration/consecration. This prayer and declaration is still resounding in my being daily since 30th Dec 2011: Lord, I am willing to be used by You. Make me Your stepping stone. Do not pass me by. I enjoyed all my time at this Winter School of Truth with all the saints, but some of the most precious times were in the group time and in our room time before bed. It was so encouraging to see young people my age touching their spirit, praying, and shepherding one another. The key to becoming an overcomer is to give the Lord the preeminence, the first and best love! Loving the Lord, eating the Lord, and being His testimony (see Rev. 2) go together – this is the key to being an overcomer! We are not the super-giants spiritually (Rev. 3:8), but we have little power and don’t deny His name! It is out of the mouths of babes and sucklings that God has established praise (Psa. 8). Most of the time we find it hard to turn our spirit because the soul takes the lead as our life and person, and the body and spirit become the organs who follow the lead of our soul. the secret revelation concerning the enjoyment of Christ as the incarnated Triune God
The tabernacle is not just a picture of the church life, but it is the Triune God for us to enter into, to partake of, and to enjoy! The entire Triune God was incarnated to become the enterable and enjoyable God for man to enter into God and enjoy God. And God’s incarnation is NOT a One Instant Event – it continues throughout the entire New Testament age, until it reaches the New Jerusalem, the eternal universal tabernacle! What does it mean to give the Lord the preeminence, the first place, in everything?
To give the Lord the first place in our life practically means to repent and do the first works. Rev. 2:5 warns us that if we don’t repent and do the first works, the Lord will remove the lampstand. These works issue from our first love for the Lord – they are a work issuing from a heart filled with zeal for the Lord’s love, and this is precious in the Lord’s eyes. We love the Lord so much that we just do the first works – and they come out of our zeal, our love for Him! In that day, when we will stand before God at His judgement seat, He will appreciate how much of what we have done out of love for Him. Only those things we do motivated by our love for the Lord are considered gold, silver, and precious stones. If we don’t do these works, the Lord will take the lampstand! Whatever we do in the church life, we need to love the Lord and do the first works – and we will be a corporate expression of the Triune God everywhere on the earth as the golden lampstands!
