In the beginning of everything – in eternity past, before time existed – there was the Word: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God! (John 1:1) Christ Himself is the Word of God as the definition, explanation, and expression of God.
The Word is God defined, explained, and expressed. God is mysterious – no one knows or has seen Him – but He became explained, defined, and expressed in His Word, which is Christ.
Praise the Lord, now God is no longer hidden – we can read the Word of God with the exercise of our spirit and we can see God expressed, defined, and explained in His Word! As the definition, expression, and explanation of God, the Word of God is eternal, self-existing, without beginning and without end!
Christ as the second of Divine Trinity is the Word of God, a living Person, and He expresses God, defines God, and explains God to us. When He came on earth, He as the Word “tabernacled among us” (John 1:14) – full of grace and reality.
He was not separate from God – rather, as the Word of God, Christ was one with God and expressed, defined, and explained God in a complete and perfect way! How wonderful Christ as the Word of God is to us!
Even more, as we see in John 1:4, In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. Christ as the Word of God is full of the divine life – He is life (John 11:25; 14:6) and He came so that man may also have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).
Where is Christ today for us to have life? Christ as life is in the Word of God – when we take in God’s Word in the way of life, we receive the divine life contained in the Word!
When we hear the Word, we realize that God is expressed and explained; when we receive the Word of God, we receive God’s very content as life. This life comes into us and shines in us as the light of men!
This is so mysterious yet so true – it is very difficult to understand or explain, but it is very easy and pleasant to experience and enjoy! When we receive Christ as the Word of God, we see God defined and expressed, and we receive Christ as our life.
This life becomes the light that shines within us to enlighten us. When the Word is heard and the life is received, the life becomes the light shining within us to enlighten us within.
This is our experience as we enjoy the Lord in His Word every day: we receive more of the divine life in us, and this life shines within to expose us, heal us, supply us, comfort us, and make us persons full of light!
Many of us have this experience of enjoying the Lord in His Word and receiving more of His divine life – when His life comes in, immediately we have the sense of something shining within us!
This is the shining of the divine life in us… [sharing inspired from the Holy Word for Morning Revival on the Central Line of the Bible]
Lord, keep us coming to You as the living Word of God! We want to receive life as we read the Word! Save us from reading just for knowledge – may we see God defined, expressed, and explained in the Word of God! Unveil us more every day to see You in the Word and to receive the divine life as we read the Word and hear the Word! Lord, we want to gain more life in the Word! Thank You for the shining of this life in us – enlightening us, exposing us, and supplying us!
