Enjoying Christ as the Redeeming Lamb and as the Bridegroom Preparing His Bride

Let us rejoice and exult, and let us give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. Rev. 19:7

Christ is the Bridegroom coming to gain His bride, and we are being prepared as the bride of Christ going to meet the Bridegroom; on the one hand, He is the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world, and on the other hand, He is the Bridegroom who came to gain a corporate bride.

Lord Jesus, thank You for being the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. We believe into You and we repent. We apply Your precious blood. Cleanse us and wash us. We love You. We open to You. We want to be prepared as the bride of Christ. Prepare us a little more, dear Lord, to be the bride who will meet the Bridegroom! We love you, our dear Bridegroom! Amen!

It is so encouraging to see that Christ is both our Physician and our Bridegroom.

Many times we have to testify that, when we come to the Lord’s word to enjoy Christ and when we come to the meetings of the church, we come to the Lord’s light, and He exposes our real condition.

He exposes how sick we are, and He also unveils Himself to us to show us how wonderful and lovely He is. On the one hand, He shows us that we are sinful, sick, and incurably ill, and He unveils Himself to us as the Physician to heal our sick condition.

On the other hand, He not only heals us but even more, He is the lovely Bridegroom, unveiling us to see a revelation of His wonderful person.

On the one hand, we get disgusted with ourselves, and we may be quite disappointed with our sickness, for our soul is so full of ailments.

We wish we could be strong and make ourselves well, but we can’t. But praise the Lord, those who are sick need a Physician, and when we come to the Lord, He imparts Himself into us as the cure for our sickness.

Christ came to minister as a Physician to heal us, recover us, enliven us, and save us. This is not only so that we may be made whole and not be sick anymore, but so that we may be reconstituted to be His new and heavenly citizens with whom He is establishing His heavenly kingdom on this corrupted earth.

He is giving us the right diagnosis and the right medicine, which medicine is Himself, so that we may be healed and reconstituted with Himself.

The result is that we love Him as our Bridegroom, we open to Him, and we are made the same as He is. We apply the cross into our bitter waters and our bitter being, and the Lord heals us.

After He heals us, He wants to marry us, so He reveals Himself as the bridegroom, the most pleasant and attractive person.

We need to appreciate Christ not only as our Physician for the recovery of life but also as our Bridegroom for the living enjoyment of His presence.

Enjoy the Lord Jesus as the Lamb of God for our Redemption and as the Bridegroom for the Wedding

The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom... John 3:29

In the gospel of John we see that the Lord Jesus is the Lamb of God (John 1:29) and also the Bridegroom (3:29).

This is not random or by accident; in Revelation 19:7-9, we see that the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. Wow!

When the Lord Jesus came, He came as the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world; this is for our redemption.

Also, He came as the Bridegroom to gain His bride; this is for the wedding. We may understand this in our mind, but this needs to become our daily enjoyment and experience.

And one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, Come here; I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb. And he carried me away in spirit onto a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. Rev. 21:9-10One day, John the Baptist declared, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Christ is the Lamb of God; He came not as a great King to rule us outwardly and forcefully establish His kingdom but as a humble Lamb to die for us.

He was willing to die for us on the cross as the Lamb of God, and He took away the sin of the world.

Now whoever believes into Him is redeemed and saved, for God applies the wonderful redemption of Christ to them and regenerates them with His life to make them children of God (John 1:12-13; 3:16). Hallelujah!

This is truly wonderful, and it is enjoyed by us in faith; we exercise our spirit of faith, we say amen to the word of God, and we believe that we are redeemed and we are children of God. But this is not the end.

Christ came not only as the Lamb of God but also as the Bridegroom. John the Baptist also said, He who has the bride is the Bridegroom (John 3:29).

On the one hand, Christ as the Lamb of God takes away the sin of the world, and by faith in Him we are redeemed and saved to be children of God, part of the kingdom of God.

On the other hand, after believing into Christ, we enjoy Him as our Bridegroom, for He came not only to redeem us but also to make us His bride.

Christ is presented to us both as the Lamb and as the Bridegroom. The Lamb is for redemption and the Bridegroom is for the wedding.

Christ as the Lamb of God has accomplished redemption for us on the cross; this is done, and it can be applied to us at any time when we confess our sins, for God is faithful and righteous to cleanse us and wash us from any unrighteousness and sin (1 John 1:7, 9).

But Christ as the Bridegroom is still working to obtain His bride. He has done everything for us, and even today He is doing everything for us so that He may gain us as His bride.

The redemption was accomplished by Christ as the Lamb of God, and the wedding will take place when Christ as the coming Bridegroom takes His bride.

As the Bridegroom, Christ must have a wedding; our position as believers in Christ is that of the bride, and the position of the coming Christ is that of the Bridegroom.

Christ as the Bridegroom wants to have a wedding, and we are being prepared to be the bride of Christ. On the one hand, He redeemed us, and He also came to us as the Physician to heal us.

We need to go on in our enjoyment and experience of Christ to enjoy Him not only as our Physician who heals us but even more, as our Bridegroom.

Let us rejoice and exult, and let us give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And it was given to her that she should be clothed in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the saints. And he said to me, Write, Blessed are they who are called to the marriage dinner of the Lamb. And he said to me, These are the true words of God. Rev. 19:7-9On the negative side, we come to Him as our Physician with our bitterness, our problems, our sicknesses, and our diseases, and He heals us.

Many times we are mistreated by others, either at work, in our family life, in our neighbourhood, or even in the church life. We are mistreated, we are hurt, and we are bitter.

Even in the church life this may happen, for we all are human beings, and we are so close to one another. There are situations that can happen beyond our own control. There may be an accident, and we may even end up in the hospital.

In such times, when we’re hurt, sick, and ill, we can come to the Lord and He heals us. He is our Physician. Even more, as He ministers to us what we need, He is preparing us to be His bride.

He is preparing us for the wedding day. As our Healer, Christ applies the cross to our being through the Spirit, and He ministers life to us; He heals our sick condition.

As the Bridegroom, He courts us, He loves us, and He perfects us to prepare us to be His bride so that we may be ready to marry Him, even to enter the wedding feast with Him.

We need both the healing and the beautifying; we need both the cross and the preparation of the bride.

Christ is our Physician and our Bridegroom to heal us and beautify us for us to be His bride, ready for our wedding day.

In this way, He both meets our need and meets His need, for He gets what is on His heart and we are both healed and prepared as His bride.

Lord Jesus, we love You as our Redeemer and as our Bridegroom. Thank You for coming as the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world. We believe into You, Lord, and we receive Your redemption by faith. Amen, Lord, we believe that we are redeemed by Christ through faith! We take You as our Redeemer and we receive You as our life. Praise the Lord, we are children of God by faith in Christ! Amen, Lord, we open to You. We want to know and enjoy You as the Bridegroom. Thank You for coming as the lovely Bridegroom to gain the bride. Gain us as Your bride. Prepare us as the bride. Add Yourself to our being and beautify us to make us Your lovely bride, matching You in every possible way. Amen, Lord, may we remain in the process of being prepared as the bride of Christ. Grow in us day by day. Keep us loving You and opening to You. Work Yourself into us. Perfect us. Beautify us. Make us the same as You are, Lord, so that we may match You for our wedding day!

Christ as our Bridegroom is Preparing us to be His Bride by His Righteousness and Life

And the disciples of John and the Pharisees were fasting. And they came and said to Him, Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast? And Jesus said to them, The sons of the bridechamber cannot fast while the bridegroom is with them, can they? For as long a time as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast. Mark 2:18-19

Another portion in the Gospels speaking of Christ as the Bridegroom is Mark 2:18-22. The disciples of John and the Pharisees asked the Lord Jesus why His disciples did not fast, when they were fasting.

The Lord took this opportunity to unveil Himself as the Bridegroom, the new garment, and the new wine in the new wineskins. Wow! He is the lovely Bridegroom who came to gain a bride for Himself.

How does He do it? it is by feasting with the sinners and tax collectors to save them in His life by His righteousness and life. He is the new cloth and the new wine.

The way Christ gains His bride is by being the new cloth and the new wine. On the one hand, Christ is the Bridegroom seeking to gain a bride for His wedding day.

On the other hand, He is the new cloth and the new wine. This is very significant. What does the new cloth and the new wine have to do with the bride, and what do all these have to do with our Christian experience?

Apparently, these are parables or figures of speech; actually, they apply to our Christian experience day by day. Thank the Lord for the ministry of the age which opens these matters up to us.

If you read the Life-study of Mark, message 9, you will be very encouraged to see that the way Christ the Bridegroom gains us as His bride is by being our righteousness (our new cloth) and our life (the new wine) to be enjoyed by us in the fresh and new church life (the new wineskins). Wow, hallelujah!

First of all, Christ is our Bridegroom; because He is with us, even right within us, we cannot be sad or fasting, for He is our life and our everything, and He is preparing us to be His bride!

We believers in Christ are on earth being prepared to be the bride to meet the Lord, and He is on the throne in the third heaven, prepared to come as the Bridegroom to meet us. Hallelujah!

He came as the Lamb of God to die for us and take away the sin of the world, and He is also our new garment, our new cloth covering us before God.

Our nakedness is covered by Christ as our righteousness. God made Christ our righteousness (1 Cor. 1:30), and God covers us in Christ as our righteousness as we believe into Him.

We are covered before the Lord. But even more, He is the new wine, causing us to be cheerful and happy.

No one sews a patch of unfulled cloth on an old garment; otherwise, that which fills it up pulls away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise, the wine will burst the wineskins, and the wine is ruined as well as the wineskins; but new wine is put into fresh wineskins. Mark 2:21-22He is the living, new wine, the new divine life in us, causing us to be joyful and happy. He is the new cloth covering us outwardly and the new wine filling us inwardly to be the bride of Christ.

Christ as the Bridegroom is preparing us to be His bride by being our righteousness and our life.

This should be our gospel: Jesus Christ today is the Bridegroom who comes to gain us as His bride by being our righteousness to cover our nakedness and to beautify us, and also His divine life is the wine for us to drink for our satisfaction.

God wants to be our happiness; He wants to make us happy, so He did everything for us and He’s doing everything for us and in us.

This is what we believe into today: we don’t believe into a set of rules and regulations, and we don’t strive to do this and that to please a demanding God. We beleive into a living person with righteousness and life who is our Bridegroom!

As believers in Christ, we have Him as our Bridegroom and we also have Him as our righteousness outwardly and as our life inwardly!

In this way, we are becoming His bride! He’s preparing us to be His bride by being our righteousness and our life.

And we enjoy His new life in the new wineskin, the new church life where all the saints enjoy Christ as the new wine, being filled with Christ to overflowing! Hallelujah!

Lord Jesus, keep us in the process of being prepared to be Your bride today. Amen, Lord, may we see that we’re on the earth being prepared to become the bride to meet Christ, and He’s on the throne in the third heaven prepared to come as the Bridegroom to meet us! Hallelujah, Christ is our Bridegroom and He is preparing us to be His bride by being righteousness and life to us! Thank You, Lord, for being our righteousness, the new cloth covering our nakedness. We believe into You and we take You as our righteousness. You are our glorious dress, covering us and making us beautiful! Thank You, Lord, You are also our life. Wow, Christ is our new life, the divine life, the real new wine! Amen, Lord, we want to be filled with You as the new wine. We want to drink and eat more of You to be filled with You to the brim! We want to enjoy You as the new life in the church life, the new wineskin. We take You as our righteousness outwardly and as our life inwardly to be prepared as Your bride!

Christ’s goal is not to remove sin—it is to have the bride. In the book of Revelation, which is also written by the apostle John, we see again that Christ our Redeemer is the Lamb and the coming Bridegroom. Therefore, as the Bridegroom, He must have a wedding. The wedding of the Lamb will be a universal wedding. It will be the marriage of the Redeemer and the redeemed. At the end of the Bible we see a city, the New Jerusalem. This city is the wife (21:2, 9-10), and the redeeming God is the Husband. Our position is that of the bride, and the position of the coming Christ is that of the Bridegroom. We are on the earth being prepared to become the bride to meet Him, and He is on the throne in the third heaven prepared to come as the Bridegroom to meet us. Thus, He is coming as the Bridegroom, and we are going as the bride (Matt. 25:1). The bride and the Bridegroom will meet, neither in heaven nor on the earth but in the air. When we meet Him in the air, we will have a wedding.

Dear brother, the Lord Jesus is both the Lamb and the Bridegroom; as the Lamb, He came to take away the sin of the world, and as the Bridegroom, He came to have the bride.

He accomplished redemption for us on the cross, and He is preparing us to be His bride so that, one day, we would enter the wedding feast as His bride!

He’s in heaven ready as the Bridegroom, and we’re being prepared to be the bride – He’s coming as the Bridegroom and we are going as the bride.

Lord Jesus, thank You for being the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world. Thank You for being the Bridegroom coming to us in love to court us and gain us as Your bride! Prepare us a little more today to be the bride! Amen!

Hallelujah brother! The forgiveness of our sins was really so that we would become Christ’s bride. What a glorious future!

We are being prepared to be an eternally beautiful & glorious bride.

As the redeemed, we are the bride; and as the Redeemer, Christ is our Husband.

When we meet Him in the air, we will have a wedding.

We need to be filled with Christ’s life, a life that’s the real wine that can satisfy us and make us joyful.

The real gospel is a living Person with righteousness & life.

We are able to have Christ as righteousness outwardly and as our life inwardly so that we would match Him in every way.
