We are Being Reconciled to God until we’re in Oneness with God by Abiding in Christ

The two steps of reconciliation in 2 Corinthians 5 are clearly portrayed by the two veils of the tabernacle, for God wants us to come all the way into the Holy of Holies to be in oneness with God; we need to be further reconciled to God and pass through the second veil by the cross being applied to the flesh so that we enter into oneness with God.

Lord Jesus, bring us on with You today. We want to enter further into God. Reconcile us further with You. We want to abide in You so that You may abide in us. Amen, Lord, we give ourselves to You. We give You our daily living. Keep us in our spirit. May we enter further into God and live in oneness with God in our spirit. Amen, Lord, keep us in our spirit today! We love You and we open to You! Keep us in oneness with God in our spirit! Amen!

We believers in Christ have been reconciled to God first initially from sin to have Christ as our righteousness by faith in Him, and now we are being further reconciled to God from living in the flesh so that we may become the righteousness of God in Christ. Hallelujah!

We need to see these two steps of reconciliation and we need to cooperate with God in His reconciling work. On the one hand, God reconciled the world to Himself through the death of Christ on the cross.

The world was at enmity with God, and everyone in the world is an enemy of God because of sin. But Christ died for our sins so that, by faith in Him, we may be joined to Him and take Christ as our righteousness.

When a sinner hears the gospel, is convicted, and repents and believes into the Lord, God covers him with Christ as his righteousness. This qualifies him to come before God and fellowship with God.

In our daily Christian life, we fail many times, we commit sins, and we make mistakes; we can come forward to God through the blood of Jesus Christ to confess our sins, and He’s faithful and righteous to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Praise the Lord!

The second step of reconciliation is that Christ died for us, the sinners; He was made sin for us on the cross so that we may be brought into an organic union with Him and live in resurrection.

When we are in this organic union with Christ, we are made the righteousness of God in Christ.

This is a work of organic constitution: Christ as the Spirit of life constitutes us with Himself so that we may become persons of life, even those who are made the righteousness of God in Christ.

The Two Steps of Reconciliation are Portrayed by the Two Veils of the Tabernacle for us to Enter into God

The two steps of reconciliation are clearly portrayed by the two veils of the tabernacle (see Exo. 26:31-37; Heb. 9:3).

The Old Testament is filled with types and figures showing us how we can enjoy and experience Christ for the building up of the church to fulfil God’s eternal purpose.

One of the greatest types is the tabernacle, which shows our journey into God; God wants us to enter all the way into the Holy of Holies to be in oneness with God.

God desires His people not merely to remain in the outer court where the burnt offering altar is but enter through the first veil, called “the screen” (Exo. 26:37), to be in the Holy Place.

In the Holy Place we can enjoy the lampstand with its light and the showbread table, where we can eat Christ as the bread of life to be our life and life supply.

We enter into the Holy Place by means of the precious blood of Christ. Christ open a new and living way for us to enter into Himself, the blood of Jesus (Heb. 10:19).

A sinner who was brought to God through the reconciliation of the propitiating blood entered into the Holy Place by passing this screen.

First, we are at the altar in the outer court; here we have Christ as our propitiation, we lay our hands on Him, and we offer Him to God for His satisfaction.

Now we have His precious blood and, based on His propitiating blood, we enter into the Holy Place to enjoy Christ. This is the first step of reconciliation.

All genuine believers in Christ have been reconciled to God through the blood of Jesus Christ to come to God covered by Christ as their righteousness and fellowship with God.

But we need to go on. We need to go further into God and enter not only in the Holy Place to enjoy Christ as our life-supply and our light but even more, enter into God.

We need to pass yet another veil, as seen by the separating veil between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle. We need the second step of reconciliation.

The Corinthian believers, to whom the second epistle to the Corinthians was written, had passed through the first veil and were in the Holy Place.

However, they still lived in the flesh; they were in their natural man, and they were soulish and even fleshy. So they had to pass through the second veil, which had already been rent (Matt. 27:51; Heb. 10:20).

We need to enter further into God by coming to Him in our spirit and being in our spirit (1 Cor. 6:17).

This is God’s goal: to bring us into God, even for us to be in oneness with God in our spirit.

We are on a journey today: we are travelling out of the flesh, the self, the natural man, and into God by means of first the blood of Christ and second the cross of Christ to cross the flesh so that we may be in God.

What separates us from God is the second veil, the flesh; we still live in the flesh. This veil needs to be rent so that we as sinners may be brought to God in the Holy of Holies.

On the one hand, we need to have the enjoyment of the Lord’s light and His word, and we need to be properly supplied and shined on by the Lord.

But this is not enough: we need to pass through the second veil, that is, we need to be reconciled further into God from living in the flesh, the natural man, the self, the natural being.

Both veils signify the unique Christ – the Christ who died for our sins and also for us.

The goal of 2 Corinthians was to bring the believers to be in their spirit, even to be persons in spirit (1 Cor. 2:15), in the Holy of Holies.

May we open to the Lord and advance with Him until we are brought into God in full to be one with God, living in the mingled spirit, so that we may be in the Holy of Holies in reality in our experience.

Lord Jesus, thank You for unveiling us to see the two steps of reconciliation. Thank You for reconciling us initially to God through the blood of Jesus Christ. Amen, Lord, thank You for dying for our sins on the cross. We believe into You, we repent and confess our sins, and we apply Your precious blood. We come forward with boldness, based on the Lord’s blood, to fellowship with God. Amen, Lord, we come to eat You as the bread of life and be shined on by You as the light of life. We love You, Lord, as our life supply and as our light of life! Keep us going on with You. May we pass through the second veil to enter into the Holy of Holies and enter into God! Amen, Lord, reconcile us further with You until we are in the presence of God, even one with God! Reconcile us to Yourself from living in the flesh to living in the mingled spirit. We exercise our spirit today. We want to be in our spirit. Make us persons in spirit. May we be one with You to apply the cross to the flesh and to our natural being so that we may be in God, one with God, in the mingled spirit! Amen!

Being Reconciled to God until we’re in Oneness with God by Abiding in Christ and Christ in us

As believers in Christ, we are on a journey deeper into God day by day. We start in the morning by coming to the altar to have our sins forgiven; we confess our sins, we touch the Lord, we apply His precious blood, and we have a clear conscience to touch the Lord.

We take Christ as the reality of all the offerings, laying our hands on Him and applying the blood of the sin offering, and we come to the Lord to enjoy Him. He supplies us with His word of life as the bread of life, and He shines on us as the golden lampstand.

This is where most Christians are today, in the Holy Place, having been forgiven of their sins and being reconciled to God from sin. This was the situation of the believers in Corinth. Many times, this is our situation also.

We may even like being here, for the Lord is our supply, we have His shining, and we sense His presence from time to time.

But the Lord wants us to come further to God, even to be further reconciled to God until we’re in oneness with God. We are reconciled partly, halfway, but we need to be reconciled into God.

According to the revelation in God’s word, reconciliation includes more than being brought back to God; it is to be brought back into God, to be in oneness with God.

Many Christians, however, think that to be reconciled to God is to have our sins forgiven so that we come to God and fellowship with God.

But God wants us to be one with Him and for Him to be one with us.

This is what the Lord Jesus said in John 15:4, Abide in Me and I in you. By faith in Christ, we were grafted into Christ; now we need to abide in Christ and He abides in us.

To abide in Christ, we need to not only apply the precious blood of Christ but even more, be further reconciled to God and enter into God.

The Lord didn’t say that we should abide with Him and He will abide with us; He said that we need to abide in Him and He will abide in us.

We take the initiative to abide in Him, and He abides in us. Until the time that we’re fully one with the Lord, in oneness with God, until the time that we are in God and we allow Him to be in us absolutely, we still need the ministry of reconciliation.

The apostle Paul was commissioned with this ministry; he knew that most believers are reconciled to God from sin, but he was one with the Lord to beseech us on the Lord’s behalf that we may be reconciled to God.

He was commissioned with the work of bringing the believers into God in a way that was absolute and practical.

We need to be brought into God to be in oneness with God by abiding in Christ for Him to abide in us in a real and practical way.

The oneness God wants to have with us is by being mingled with us. He wants to mingle Himself with us and for us to be mingled with Him.

We need to let the Lord advance in us, go on in us, and take us on with Him until we cross the second veil, which is the crucified Christ.

He died for us, the sinners; His flesh was rent, and now we can enter into the Holy of Holies by being one with the crucified Christ.

In our daily experience, we need to be one with the crucified Christ.

We don’t crucify the flesh ourselves; we don’t try our best to crucify ourselves but rather, we experience Christ, even one with the crucified Christ, in our experience, so that our flesh may be put to death and Christ may live in us.

We need to remain in the organic union with Him; in Christ, we are dead to the self, the flesh is terminated, and the old man is buried (Rom. 6:6; Gal. 2:20).

We simply need to exercise our spirit to abide in the Lord so that we may be in oneness with God. In this oneness with God, we live God, we express God, and we are fully reconciled to God.

Today among us there may be many problems; we may have problems in our personal life, in our family life, and even in the church life.

The church life is not a utopia, a perfect place; we may think it should be, and we may think that all the saints should be nice to us and do all things in spirit, but it is not exactly like that. We are all in the process of being reconciled to God.

We all have our own situations, environments, and issues, and we all are on our journey into God to live in oneness with God by abiding in Christ.

In many items of our daily living, we are still outside of God. We are still on our journey to be in God, even to be in God in full so that we may be fully reconciled to God and live out Christ.

Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing us on this journey into God! Hallelujah, we have been reconciled to God initially so that we may enjoy Christ as our supply and our light. Bring us on with You, Lord, so that we may be further reconciled to God from the flesh. We exercise our spirit to abide in Christ so that Christ may abide in us. Amen, Lord, we want to abide in You today. We exercise to live in Christ and do all things in Christ by being in our mingled spirit. Praise the Lord, he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit! Amen, Lord, thank You for making us one spirit with You today! We no longer want to be outside of God: we want to be brought into God! We give You our daily living and all the things we do and say. We want to be brought into a deeper oneness with God so that we may be absolutely in God! Amen, Lord, may we live in God in all things today! May we be one with the crucified Christ so that the cross may be applied to our natural being, our self, our flesh, our natural man. May we live one spirit with You today in all things! Amen!
