The young people’s conference is arguably one of the best weekends I’ve ever had. The environment was plush, green, and cool, away from the many distractions London offers; the meals were extraordinary, but more importantly, the fellowship I had with the saints brought me closer to the knowledge and presence of God than anything ever did!
Without a doubt, it was a weekend that will probably reside in my memory forever! The lessons I learnt from the messages were simple, direct, precise, and personal, and it was simply a weekend where I had time to reflect on my personal life and my relationship with the Lord.
Who could have known that all that was needed to be saved was to just look at the Son of Man who was lifted up just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness? Who could have known the much damage religion has caused to our Christian experience? Religion made me believe I had to work hard and be a good man to have a part of eternal life, but now I know better.
I found inspiration in John 10:10b where Christ mentioned that He had come that we might have life – and have it more abundantly! Hallelujah, I have eternal life in me – the life-giving Spirit lives in me! Neither religion nor earthly pleasures can ever take that away!
A point I also enjoyed during the conference was that “I must always ask God for grace never to condemn my brother, and no matter how highly placed I am, I must step down from my high horse and wash my brother’s feet“. In an amazing way, this point has brought me a peaceful feeling – now I live my daily life with my towel girded round my waist, ready to wash the feet as they come! Hallelujah!
