Praise the Lord for such a wonderful conference. Never have I seen Life and Building revealed so clearly in the Gospel of John before! I really enjoyed message six related to, The Issue of life Processed through Death and Resurrection a Divine-Human Incorporation (John 14-16).
I was really touched by the Lord’s compassion and love shown in John 13:4-5 in the Lord’s washing of the disciples’ feet. The Lord took off His outer garments – He put off all that He is and has accomplished – and girded Himself with a simple towel! Such a humility!
What a Christ we have… Jesus washed the feet of his disciples was a cherishing for them – He was showing how much He loved them. The Lord Jesus loved the disciples to the uttermost (John 13:1).
One of the biggest things in the church life is unforgiven offenses – when we are offended by a brother or sister, our natural concept is to wait for that person come and ask us for forgiveness.
But here we see that the Lord Jesus is such a wonderful pattern for us! We need to break out of our natural concept and have a breakthrough in our inner being.
By washing the feet of the one who offends us – maybe not in a literal way but by shepherding them, by ministering to them, and cherishing them – we can have a healthy church life!
This practice of washing of one another’s feet with prevent anything that is frustrating the fellowship between the saints and their fellowship with the Lord.
This is just like in 1 Peter 5:2a, 5b, where it says,
2a Shepherd the flock of God among you,
5b all of you gird yourselves with humility toward one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Oh may we receive such a washing of the Spirit through the Word! Saints, how much we need to live such a mutual foot-washing life in the church life today! [sharing by sister Kristabel E. from the recent Spring College-Age Conference in Wales]
We need to gird ourselves with humility toward one another, To shepherd, minister, and to cherish our brothers and sisters even though they have offended us, oh how we need to have a breakthrough in our being. Oh the Lord is our pattern!
