Seeing God’s Heavenly way of Balancing the Daily Supply and Wealth among His People

But just as you abound in everything, in faith and in word and in knowledge and in all earnestness and in the love in you from us, abound in this grace also. 2 Cor. 8:7

God is wise in His heavenly way of balancing the daily supply among His people, and we need to cooperate with God to practice a heavenly balancing of wealth and money in our daily life.

This week in our Holy Word for Morning Revival on, Material Offerings and the Lord’s Move Today, we come to week 5, the last week, entitled, Principles of Material Offerings (3).

As believers in Christ, we have received the divine life of God, and we live a different kind of life; we no longer live by the old life, the natural life, but in and by the divine life, a life in the mingled spirit.

The Christian life is a life of living Christ, a life of living in the mingled spirit so that Christ may be manifested through us.

However, when we don’t live in the mingled spirit, we are just like the rest of the people around us who are not believers.

The people in the world today want to do things all by themselves and to themselves; they only seek to gain something for themselves, not for others.

Even when there are these large philanthropic events where people donate money to charities and good causes, they don’t do this for others but for their name to be mentioned, for them to receive the glory and recognition.

In the New Testament, the Lord Jesus said that the Pharisees did this, giving in such a way that others would see and appreciate.

We, however, need to live in and by the divine life in our spirit, so that our giving would be in secret, to the Father, in such a way that others don’t see it or hear about it.

In this blog post, inspired from the first day in the morning revival, we want to see that God has a divine way of balancing the wealth among His people, and this can be seen in the way the children of Israel gathered manna in the Old Testament.

Our God is so wise; we think we may be smarter than Him by trying to save up money instead of giving our excess, but God has a way to cause this money to fly away for different reasons.

May we learn to open to the Lord again and again in the matter of our giving, and may we take Him as our life and person, enjoying Him and partaking of Him, until we send our treasures in heaven, where also our heart is.

Oh Lord, our heart! May our heart be the Lord’s, and may we learn to set our mind on our spirit so that our mind may become life itself; when our mind is life, our whole being will be supplied with the divine life.

We will then no longer live like the rest but rather, we will take Christ as our everything, we will treasure Him above all, and all other things will pale in contrast with Him.

What a wonderful Christ we have, and how privileged we are to give ourselves with all we are, have, and do to Him!

Seeing God’s Heavenly Way of Balancing the Daily Supply and the Wealth among His People

This is what Jehovah has commanded, Gather of it, each one according to his eating; you shall take an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, each one for those who are in his tent. And the children of Israel did so; and some gathered much, and some little. And when they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little had no lack; each of them gathered according to his eating. And Moses said to them, Let no man leave any of it until the morning. Exo. 16:16-19In 2 Cor. 9:8-15 Paul appeals to the Corinthian believers to participate in the grace of giving for the needs of the saints; just as they abounded in everything, they should also abide in this grace.

The example that he uses in this matter is the one in Exo. 16:18, where we see the matter of gathering the manna; he who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little had no lack, for each of them gathered according to his eating.

The money we receive or earn is God’s supply to us, and He is faithful to rain this upon us every day, for He is a generous and rich Giver. Hallelujah!

Just as manna in the Old Testament rained upon the people every day and they had to get up in the morning to gather it, each according to his need, so we need to realize that God is the rich Giver, and we need to wake up every morning early to work so that we may receive God’s supply.

The money we receive from our employer or our business is given to us by God, and we need to gather and keep according to our needs.

We need to see God’s heavenly way of balancing the daily supply among His people as seen in His way of balancing the supply of manna among the people of Israel.

The children of Israel had to gather the manna, but only as much as they could eat, for if any was left until the evening, it became bad and could no longer be used.

If some of them were greedy and gathered too much, trying to preserve some even for the next day, it went bad and they had to throw it away.

This applies to the matter of ministering the material things to the needy saints. In the children of Israel, there must have been some who were weak and could not gather that much; however, they did not lack.

Others, however, must have been strong and eager to gather manna, but they didn’t have any in excess. This is amazing.

This is God’s heavenly way of balancing the daily supply among His people; though some may be stronger and others weaker, none lacks and none has in excess.

God has a miraculous way to balance the daily supply among His children by His sovereign hand; we need to see this and experience God’s care and supply day by day.

It is amazing that Paul applies this matter of gathering manna, which refers to receiving God’s supply, to the matter of giving to the needy saints and giving to the Lord.

For it is not that to others there would be relief, yet to you affliction, But it is out of equality; at the present time your abundance for their lack that their abundance also may be for your lack, so that there may be equality; As it is written, "He who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little had no lack." 2 Cor. 8:13-15We may think that our giving is our scattering, for it seems that we let our money God; in God’s eyes, however, this is a gathering, something that we gain of the Lord’s supply.

We shouldn’t think that, if we earn a large sum of money, we should preserve it all for ourselves, and give the Lord only ten percent.

Tithing is a good practice, but it is not what the Lord wants, neither is it in the principle of the New Testament.

The Lord Jesus Christ is very rich, yet for our sake, He became poor, so that we, because of His poverty, might become rich.

God has a way of making sure there is equality among His people, not in the way of taking things from the rich and giving to the poor, but in the way of balancing the daily supply among His people.

Some give out of their abundance, and they need to give in a rich way; others give out of their lack, and they give to the Lord.

The result is that God balances the wealth among His people, and He balances the supply among those who believe in Him.

It is good to bring this to the Lord and tell Him,

Lord Jesus, we love You! Thank You for richly supplying us with everything that we need. You are our real Provider, the rich Giver, the One who supplies us with everything. We look to You for our daily supply. We take You as our source. Amen, Lord, all we are is from You, and all we have is from You. We give ourselves to You, Lord, with all that we are, have and can do. Show us God’s heavenly way to balance the supply among His people. Cause us to realize that God has a sovereign way to balance wealth among the saints so that none would lack and none would have in excess. May we cooperate with You in this, Lord!

Learning to Cooperate with God to be Balanced in the Daily Supply and in Financial Matters

As it is written, "He who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little had no lack." 2 Cor. 8:15

Gathering the manna was the duty of the children of Israel when they were in the wilderness; working so that we may support ourselves and those who depend on us is our duty today.

However, it is God who provides, for He is the source of everything good.

It may be that we have a salary of £35.000 a year (if we live in the UK), and we may want to keep most of this money to ourselves; we may need only £20.000 for our needs, but we may not want to give the rest to the Lord.

We may think we are smart and we will open a few savings accounts, where we deposit our money; we may even use the excuse of saving up for this and for that, or saving up for our children’s college fund, etc.

All these are the things that people in the world do, and they seem to be right.

According to God’s principle, however, we should not keep what we have in excess; rather, we need to learn to be balanced in the daily supply and in financial matters.

We may follow the way of tithing, so out of £35.000 we may give to the Lord £350, and we may feel good about it, yet we may keep the excess for ourselves.

God is sovereign, and He has many ways to cause this excess money to disappear.

We all can testify that, the more we love the Lord and pursue Him, the more we follow Him on the pathway of the cross, the more He desires us not to have things in excess; He is wise in balancing the supply among His people.

If we try to save up money, there may be an illness, an unexpected incident, an accident, or a calamity, and our savings are gone.

We may be able to save even to the end of our life, and leave our money to our second generation; however, this money will simply disappear with them.

God’s mighty and sovereign hand is active to practice a heavenly balancing of the wealth among His people.

We may think we are wise according to the wisdom of this world, for we give the Lord His ten percent, we take care of our needs, and we set aside money for “darker days” or for our children’s future.

We need to realize that, as children of God we should not be greedy to try to preserve our money for ourselves but rather, keep what we need and learn to give the rest.

This quotation from Exo. 16 refers to God's heavenly way of balancing the supply of manna among His people, and is applied here to the ministering of material things to the needy saints. Manna was gathered for the daily supply of God's people; they had a sufficient supply no matter how much or how little they gathered. Gathering manna was their duty, and they were to do their duty without being greedy. In like manner, as children of God we should not be greedy or try to preserve our money for ourselves, for whether or not we give, the outcome will be the same, for God in His sovereignty is active to practice a heavenly balancing of the wealth among His people. The result is that He takes care of our daily needs, so that he who preserves much for himself has no excess and he who preserves little for himself has no lack. 2 Cor. 8:15, note 1, RcV BibleIf we are greedy and keep money for ourselves, the Lord will have a way to cause us to spend this money so that we don’t have it saved up.

Whether we give or not, the outcome will be the same, for God in His sovereignty is active to practice a heavenly balancing of the wealth among His people.

He is faithful to take care of our daily needs, but He wants us to not keep more than what we need but rather, give anything that is in excess.

He takes care of our daily needs in such a way that he who preserves much for himself has no excess and he who preserves little for himself has no lack.

May we not think we’re wiser than God but rather, realize that He’s the “heavenly pilot” who will cause our excess money to “fly away”.

He did this with the manna in the Old Testament, and He is doing this with our money today.

The question is whether or not we want to cooperate with the Lord to balance the material supply willingly, or will we force God to balance it in a miraculous, sovereign way.

Sooner or later He will balance us in financial matters.

May we know and understand God’s heart, realizing that He desires that His people would be balanced in their daily supply.

If we do it willingly, if we willingly give what is in excess, the Lord will be our rich supply day by day; if we don’t give willingly, the Lord will make sure our excess will disappear.

Lord Jesus, save us from being greedy with the supply that You give us. Save us from being greedy or trying to preserve our money for ourselves. We want to be those who cooperate with You to practice the balancing of the supply and the wealth by keeping only what we need and giving what is in excess. We trust in You to care for our daily needs so that we do not lack and do not have anything in excess. Amen, Lord, may we cooperate with You through giving what we gain in excess so that we may be balanced in financial matters and in receiving and keeping the supply!

Amen. Christ is our manna. He is also our rich provider. May we learn and live a balance life of receiving and giving.
