Exercising our Spirit to Switch on the Law of Life and Enjoy Christ as the Jubilee

Rom. 8:4 That the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit.

When we were born again, the Spirit came into our spirit, and the law of the Spirit of life started to operate in us; we can cooperate with the inner law of the Spirit of life by exercising our spirit to switch on this law so that we can enjoy Christ as the freedom and living of the jubilee.

Every life has a law; the higher the life, the higher the law.

The plant life has a law, each according to its kind, and the law of the plant life operates in each plant to shape that plant according to its law. The animals similarly have a law of life within them to shape them and cause them to develop according to that law.

It is the same with the human life, since it is the highest created life, it has the highest life, shaping a man to be a certain way. The highest life in this universe is the divine life, and this life has a law – this is the highest law, the law of the Spirit of life with our spirit.

Whenever the right circumstances and conditions are created for a certain law to come into being, that law automatically operates.

The divine birth has transferred us, human beings, into a new realm – the realm of the divine life; now we are not just men – we are God-men, and in the realm of the divine life there’s another law (which the Bible calls the law of the Spirit of life, see Rom. 8:2) that operates in us.

In this realm, the realm of the divine life, there’s no sin, world, or flesh – there’s only life (the divine life), and there’s victory and overcoming.

In the realm of the divine life all the victories are spontaneous, automatic, unconscious, and even effortless, because the law of the Spirit of life is upholding us (and not our own will).

In the human realm, as soon as we make up our mind to do the good, evil is present with us and defeats us every time; but when we’re in the divine realm, that is, in the realm of the divine life, and we exercise our spirit to switch on the law of the Spirit of life, we spontaneously overcome, we are effortlessly freed from any bondage, and we unconsciously and automatically express Christ.

This is what Paul discovered in Rom. 8, after he shared his experience of failing in Rom. 7.

When we are in Christ Jesus by exercising our spirit to switch on the law of the Spirit of life, we spontaneously overcome and we effortlessly enjoy the freedoms and blessings of the jubilee.

Here, in the realm of the divine life, we have the presence of God, the speaking of God, the meeting with God, and the dispensing of God. Hallelujah!

Exercising our Spirit to Switch on the Law of the Spirit of Life and Enjoy Christ as the Jubilee

Our spirit is like a switch. By exercising our spirit, we switch on the heavenly electricity which has been installed into us. If we did not have a switch or did not know where the switch was, we would have no way of applying electricity. In the same principle, apart from the switch of our spirit, we have no way to apply the heavenly electricity. Praise the Lord that we have a switch and that we know where it is! The switch is in the inner chamber of our being, that is, in our spirit. The simplest way to switch on the current is to call on the name of the Lord Jesus. Witness Lee, Life-study of Romans, pp. 587-588It is amazing to realize that the law of the Spirit of life has been installed in our spirit at the time of our regeneration, and it is revolutionary to know how to switch on this law in our experience!

The Triune God went through the process of incarnation, human living, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension, and now He is a flowing Spirit and moving Spirit in our spirit.

Apart from the Spirit as the current, the flow, there’s no way for God to be applied to us, and there’s no way for us to enjoy the jubilee with its blessings and freedoms.

When the Spirit moves in us, the elements of Christ’s divinity, humanity, His human living, the effectiveness of His death, the power of His resurrection, the fragrance of His resurrection, His ascension, His enthronement, His headship, His lordship, His authority, and His kingdom are applied to us.

We can cooperate with the installed and inner operating law of the Spirit of life by exercising our spirit to switch on this law so that we can enjoy Christ as the freedom and living of the jubilee (see Phil. 2:12-13; Rom. 8:2, 4-6, 13-16, 23; 5:10, 17; 1 Tim. 4:7; 2 Tim. 4:22).

Apart from the “switch” of our spirit, we have no way to apply the processed Triune God as the “heavenly electricity” in us, but praise the Lord that we have a switch and that we know where it is (Prov. 20:27; Zech. 12:1; Rom. 8:16).

On the one hand God gives us salvation freely, and we are saved by grace through faith; on the other hand, we need to work out our own salvation by exercising our spirit to switch on the law of life daily.

And the best way to switch on the divine and mystical “current” of the flowing Spirit in our spirit is to call on the name of the Lord Jesus (see 1 Cor. 12:3; Rom. 10:12-13).

Rom. 8:6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace. The most simple way and the best way is to call on the name of the Lord. When we say, Lord Jesus! with an exercised spirit and a turned heart, we are in the Holy Spirit!

The same Lord is Lord of all and rich to all who call on His name; when we call on the name of the Lord, we are saved continually, throughout our daily life, and we enjoy the jubilee!

When we contact the Spirit through the exercise of our spirit, we enjoy Christ as the myriad and rich aspects of the jubilee.

As seen in Rom. 8:4, when we are exercising our spirit to switch on the law of life, the requirements of the law (which are an expression of what God is and what He wants from us) are spontaneously fulfilled in us, for we walk by the Spirit and not by the flesh.

We need to practice to set our mind on the spirit so that we may enjoy Christ as the jubilee; whenever we set our mind on the spirit, we enjoy life and peace (Rom. 8:6), but when our mind is set on the flesh, we experience death.

Lord Jesus, we want to exercise our spirit to switch on the law of the Spirit of life and thus enjoy Christ as the freedom and living of the jubilee. Save us from merely knowing that the law of the Spirit of life has been installed in us; we want to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling by exercising our spirit to switch on the law of life daily! Amen, Lord Jesus! Oh Lord Jesus! Keep us calling on Your name with an exercised spirit and a turned heart, so that we may enjoy all Your riches. Lord, we want to contact You through the exercise of our spirit so that we may enjoy Christ as all the myriad and rich aspects of the jubilee!

Switching on the Law of Life by Serving the Lord out of our First Love for Him for the Body!

God accomplishes His economy by dispensing Himself into us as the law of the Spirit of life - Rom. 8:2, 6, 10-11; Rev. 22:1-2a. The law of the Spirit of life constitutes us to be the members of the Body of Christ, with all kinds of functions - Col. 2:19; Eph. 4:11, 16; Rom. 12:4-8. Through the spontaneous, automatic function of the law of the Spirit of life within us, we are enabled to know God, gain God, and thereby live God, causing us to be constituted with God that we may become His increase and His enlargement to be His fullness for His expression - Eph. 1:22-23; 3:19-21. Witness LeeThe Apostle Paul was a person who switched on the law of the Spirit of life by serving God in his spirit out of his first love for the Lord (see Rom. 1:9; 5:5; 8:35-39; Rev. 2:4). Every time we serve we should pray, Lord, we want to serve You in our spirit! We want to be in spirit as we serve You!

And our service for the Lord has to be out of our first love for Him. Our first love for the Lord is not merely the love that we initially had when we entered the jubilee, but loving the Lord with the best love, even giving Him the first place in all things and in all matters.

To love the Lord with the first love is to give Him the first place in all things and in all matters, regarding Him as everything in our life (see Col. 1:18, 10).

When God comes to us and comes out of us, that is our service to Him; in the churches, we need to work together with Christ, rendering Him our first love to Him (see S. S. 7:12; 2 Cor. 6:1a; Phil. 3:3; Mark 12:30).

We need to be those exercising our spirit to switch on the law of life by serving God in our spirit out of our first love for the Lord; when we do this, we do the first works, the works that issue from and express the first love.

Only the first works done out of our best love for the Lord are gold, silver, and precious stones (see Rev. 2:4-5; 1 Cor. 3:12; 15:10, 58).

We need to repent daily, return to the Lord, and ask Him to rekindle our love for Him, otherwise, if we just do works for Him, He may come and remove the reality of the testimony of the Triune God in our locality.

All our service for the Lord should come out of our fresh, vital love for Him. The love of Christ constrains us to live to Him and to die to Him.

To live to ourselves means that we’re under our own control, direction, and governing, and we care for our own aims and goals.

But to live to the Lord means that we’re determined to gain the honor of being well-pleasing to Him by being absolutely under His control, His direction, and His governing, and caring uniquely for His own aims and goals.

Christ’s love of affection constrains us to live to Him, and as we exercise our spirit to serve the Lord, we do this out of our first love for Him.

And the result is nothing else but the reality of the Body of Christ, the corporate living of the perfected God-men, consummating in the New Jerusalem.

The jubilee in Rom. 8 shows us this reality of the Body of Christ (which is displayed in Rom. 12-16); thus, Romans 8 is the focus of the entire Bible and even the center of the universe.

The way God accomplishes His economy is by dispensing Himself into us as the law of the Spirit of life (see Rom. 8:2, 6, 10-11; Rev. 22:1-2a). First, He makes our spirit life, then as we set our mind on the spirit our soul becomes life, and finally, He gives life to our mortal body through His Spirit who indwells us.

The law of the Spirit of life constitutes us to be the members of the Body of Christ with all kinds of functions (see Col. 2:19; Eph. 4:11, 16; Rom. 12:4-8).

All our functions in the church come out for our switching on the law of the Spirit of life.

Through the spontaneous, automatic function of the law of the Spirit of life within us, we are enabled to know God, gain God, and thereby live God, causing us to be constituted with God that we may become His increase and His enlargement to be His fullness for His expression (Eph. 1:22-23; 3:19-21). Hallelujah!

Lord Jesus we love You! We give ourselves to You, Lord, to love You and to serve You out of our first love for You. We want to serve You in spirit and out of the first love by giving You the first place in all things.Yes, Lord, we treasure You, we regard You as everything in our life, and we want to work together with You in the churches – there we will give You our love. Dispense Yourself into us, Lord, and fill our entire tripartite being with the divine life. Operate in us and gain our cooperation for You to get Your corporate expression, even a corporate living of the perfected God-men, the reality of the Body of Christ!
