Cooperating with God in our Tripartite Being to be Mingled with the Divine Trinity

The Divine Trinity is the model of our Christian life, and the Christian life is a life of our being mingled with the Divine Trinity.

The Divine Trinity is the model of our Christian life, and we regenerated believers with our tripartite being need to cooperate with the indwelling Divine Trinity to be mingled with God and for God to be glorified in us.

The New Testament reveals that the Father, the Son, and the Spirit are all in us; when we were regenerated, all three of the Divine Trinity came into us, and the Triune God now dwells in us.

It is quite an important matter to realise that God is Triune for His dispensing; He is the Father, the Son, and the Spirit not to complicate us in our mind and cause us to be confused but to dispense Himself into us.

God’s focus, His economy, is nothing else but to dispense Himself into man so that He may gain a corporate man who would be His expression and representation on the earth.

According to the entire revelation of the Bible, the Divine Trinity is for God’s dispensing; whenever the Divine Trinity is mentioned, it is not for us to try to understand how things work with God and in the Godhead, but for God to dispense something of Himself into man.

God the Father is the source as love, God the Son is the expression as the grace, and God the Spirit is the reaching out and flow as the fellowship (2 Cor. 13:14).

God the Father strengthens us into our inner man through the Spirit so that Christ may make His home in our heart (Eph. 3:14-17); the entire Triune God works together and cooperates with one another for one purpose: to dispense God into man.

God wants to dispense Himself into man, and for this He is the Father as the source, the Son as the expression, and the Spirit as the flowing out, the reaching out; when the Spirit reaches us, we get the Father, the Son, and the Spirit – the entire Triune God.

The Triune God is dispensing His Divine Trinity into us to be our life, our life supply, and our everything; the result of receiving the divine dispensing is that we are reconstituted inwardly with the Triune God, and we become the same as He is for His corporate expression. Hallelujah!

Today we want to go on in our deeper study of the Divine Trinity as revealed in Numbers and see that we also are a trinity composed of the spirit, the soul, and the body, and the Divine Trinity dwells in us to mingle Himself with us and make us one with Him for His corporate, glorious expression.

With our Tripartite Being we need to Cooperate with the Indwelling Divine Trinity

1 Thes. 5:23 And the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.God is a Divine Trinity, and we human beings are also a trinity, a “human trinity” composed of spirit, soul, and body. Because we are tripartite beings, we could say that we are a human trinity.

However, unlike the Divine Trinity, in our human trinity there’s always quarrel, warfare, argument, and fighting. The flesh – our fallen body, our fallen human being – always fights and lusts against our spirit, which is mingled with the divine Spirit (see Gal. 5:17).

Our flesh also fights with our mind (Rom. 7:23); when our mind knows the law and wants to do it, the flesh rises up to fight against our mind and it always defeats our logical soul who wants to do the right thing.

Whenever the soul desires to do good, the sin in our evil flesh rises up against our soul (vv. 18-21).

Even more, as regenerated believers we have the Lord Jesus dwelling in our spirit (2 Tim. 4:22), and this causes further troubles, for He always says NO to the flesh, and most time He says NO to the soul also.

Because there’s such a warfare within us, we must learn to cooperate with the Divine Trinity.

The Divine Trinity is the model of our Christian life; in the Divine Trinity there is no warfare, fight, or struggle but rather, there’s oneness and harmony. We should not try to live our Christian life by our fallen, pitiful, defective human trinity, for there’s always a warfare there.

Among the three of the Divine Trinity there is harmony; the Father, Son, and Spirit never quarrel or fight but rather, they are in perfect harmony and oneness.

The Father is pleased to exalt the Son – there’s no jealousy there (Matt. 3:17; 17:5; 12:28), and the Son is willing to subject Himself to the Father; furthermore, the Spirit is willing to be sent by the Father to testify concerning the Son (see John 16:13-15).

The Divine Trinity is the model of our Christian life. Among the Divine Trinity there is no warfare. The Father is happy to exalt the Son, the Son is very willing to subject Himself to the Father, and the Spirit is willing to testify concerning the Son. Our “human trinity” is not like this. Therefore, we need a Savior. This Savior is the Divine Trinity, who has come into our spirit. After we are saved, our “human trinity” needs to follow the indwelling Divine Trinity....Eventually, our entire being — spirit, soul, and body — will glorify the Divine Trinity. This cooperation with the indwelling Trinity will result in His glorification, His expression, and His manifestation. Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1990, vol. 2, “Messages to the Trainees in Fall 1990,” p. 480

Such a mind should be in us today (Phil. 2:5-11). The Son came to seek the glory of the Father and do the will of the Father, and the Spirit comes to guide us in all the reality of what the Father is and the Son has accomplished.

With our tripartite being we need to cooperate with the indwelling Divine Trinity (John 14:16-20, 23).

We shouldn’t try to seek help for our human trinity to improve it, seek to make peace within us, or stop the quarrel; rather, we should cooperate with the indwelling Divine Trinity.

With our human trinity there’s only quarrel, warfare, and battle, but with the Divine Trinity – who dwells in our spirit and seeks to spread in our soul – there’s harmony and oneness.

Eventually, our entire being – our spirit, our soul, and our body – will glorify the Divine Trinity, for our cooperation with the indwelling Divine Trinity will result in His glorification, His expression, and His manifestation (see 1 Thes. 5:23; 2 Thes. 1:10, 12).

As we cooperate with the indwelling Divine Trinity, our whole being will be saturated with God and we will glorify Him.

This Divine Trinity, which is a stronger trinity, will subdue and defeat our human trinity, and we will be glorified so that God may be glorified in us for His expression, His manifestation.

Lord Jesus, we want to cooperate with the indwelling Divine Trinity so that we may be glorified for the expression and manifestation of God in man. Thank You Lord for creating us as a “human trinity” with our body, our soul, and our spirit. We open to Your dispensing, Lord, and we open to Your working Yourself within us as the Divine Trinity. Save us from trying to improve ourselves or to make peace between the inner warring parties. Amen, Lord Jesus, we want to give You our best cooperation so that God may be glorified, expressed, and manifested!

The Christian Life is a Life of being Mingled with the Divine Trinity

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make an abode with him.God’s desire is to dispense Himself in His Divine Trinity into us so that He may be mingled with us; our Christian life is a life of being mingled with the Divine Trinity (see 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 3:14-15; 4:4-6).

Why is God Triune? According to the Bible, the main purpose God is Triune so that He may dispense Himself into us. Why does God want to dispense Himself into us? God wants to dispense Himself into us so that He may be mingled with us and thus obtain a Body, a corporate group of people who would express Him and represent Him.

Therefore, God is dispensing His Divine Trinity into us to mingle Himself with us, and the Father, the Son, and the Spirit work together to mingle us with the Divine Trinity.

For us to cooperate with the mingling of the Triune God with man, we need to realise that God uses four instruments to mingle us with the Divine Trinity: the divine life, the cross, the Spirit, and the Word.

In our Christian life, God uses four instruments to mingle us with the Divine Trinity: the divine life (John 3:15), the cross (Col. 1:20), the Spirit (Rom. 8:11), and the Word (Jer. 15:16; John 6:63).

By means of His divine life, God mingles Himself with us; He dispenses His life into us, and He mingles us with the Divine Trinity by means of His life. As we grow in the divine life and enjoy the flow of life, we are mingled more with the Divine Trinity.

The cross is God’s way to reconcile all things to Himself; when we allow the cross to operate in us through the Spirit dwelling in our spirit, we are separated from anything of the world, the self, the flesh, and Satan, and we are mingled with the Divine Trinity.

The Spirit of the One who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us, so He will impart His life into us to bring our entire being out of death into life; the Spirit dwelling in our spirit is a means for God to mingle us with His Divine Trinity.

In our Christian life, God uses four instruments to mingle us with the Divine Trinity: the divine life, the cross, the Spirit, and the Word. These are the Lord’s divine provisions....Therefore, we must always have fellowship with the Spirit in the divine life through the cross and through the Word. For this reason we must join ourselves to the holy Word every day, accept the dealing of the cross, and be one with the Spirit so that we may participate in the divine life. Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1990, vol. 2, “Messages to the Trainees in Fall 1990,” p. 480

A very practical way for us to be mingled with the Divine Trinity is to exercise our spirit as we read the Word of God so that we may receive Spirit and life (John 6:63).

When we find the words of God, eat them, chew on them by musing on them prayerfully, His words become the joy and gladness of our heart, and we are mingled with the Divine Trinity (Jer. 15:6).

We should always have fellowship with the Spirit in the divine life through the cross and through the word; this will cause us to be mingled with the Divine Trinity more (2 Cor. 13:14; Rom. 8:11; Col. 3:16).

We need to fellowship with the Spirit by exercising our spirit, cooperate with the Lord to grow in the divine life, allow the cross to operate in us through the Spirit, and let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, so that we may be mingled with the Divine Trinity.

Our Christian life is a life of our being mingled with the Divine Trinity.

We need to join ourselves to the holy Word every day, accept the dealing of the cross, and be one with the Spirit so that we may participate in the divine life; in this way, we are being mingled with the Divine Trinity little by little, day by day.

Lord Jesus, may our daily Christian life be a life of being mingled with the Divine Trinity. Thank You for the provisions of the divine life, the cross, the Spirit, and the Word. We want to have fellowship with the Spirit in the divine life through the cross and through the Word. Amen, Lord, we join ourselves to Your word every day, we want to accept the dealing of the cross, and we want to be one with the Spirit so that we may participate in the divine life. Oh Lord, we open to You in Your word, through the cross, in the Spirit, and by the Divine life, so that You may mingle us more the Divine Trinity!
