Christ Himself is the Preciousness to His Believers for us to Enjoy and Experience

To you therefore who believe is the preciousness... 1 Pet. 2:7

The apostle Peter saw that Christ Himself is the preciousness to His believers, and he was charmed by the Lord to such an extent that, no matter how many times the Lord rebuked him, he still followed the Lord; we need to see Christ as the preciosness to us and enjoy His precious promises, His precious blood, the precious faith, and even the precious proving of our faith.

Lord Jesus, unveil us to see You! Attract us and captivate us. We just open to You. Cause us to see that Christ is the preciousness to His believers! May we realise how precious You are and may we love You to the uttermost! Amen!

We believers in Christ are those who have been shown mercy by the Lord to not only have a turn from anything else unto Him but even more, see Him and appreciate Him.

Our daily life as Christians is now according to the values that the Triune God has, not according to the system of values in this world.

This world values certain things due to Satan’s influence, and all fallen people treasure things that are worthless, meaningless, and at best a temporary enjoyment.

But we believers in Christ have seen something of the preciousness of Christ. We saw a glimpse of who He is. We like to spend time with the Lord in His word to see Him, enjoy Him, and be infused with Him.

We realise that Christ is our real treasure. He is the treasure of justice, and no earthly treasure can compare to it.

Even if we have earthly treasures, even if we can get these treasures that are outward, we still look to the Lord and choose Him, for He is our real treasure.

He is the real gold, silver, and precious stones, and He is the real pearls. We just open to Him.

We want to be infused with Him as the reality of the preciousness, and we give ourselves to Him to become just like Him. As we come to Him as a living stone, we also become living stones.

As we spend time with Him as the preciousness to His believers, we are infused with His preciousness and we become precious to God.

But if we believers in Christ do not spend time with the Lord in His word, we will not consider Christ as our super-excelling portion; rather, things in the world will become more attractive and precious to us.

If we don’t touch the Lord again and again in our spirit and in His word, our attention will shift from unseen things to seen things, and degradation comes in.

Oh, may we have a thorough change in our concept under the Lord’s light so that we may continually choose Christ and all that He is as our super-excelling portion!

Seeing that Christ Himself is the Preciousness to His Believers and enjoying Christ

And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is My Son, the Chosen One. Hear Him! Luke 9:35

The apostle Peter saw that Christ Himself is the preciousness to His believers, and he said that to us who believe is the preciousness (1 Peter 2:7).

If we read the Gospels we see that Peter was charmed by the Lord to such an extent that, even though he failed miserably and was rebuked by the Lord many times, he still followed the Lord as his Shepherd until his martyrdom (Luke 5:8-11; Mark 14:67-72; 16:7; John 21:15-22; 2 Pet. 1:14-15).

He was charmed by Christ. He was captivated by Christ. He was attracted by Christ. The Lord Jesus was like an immense magnet, and Peter as one of His seeking ones was attracted and captivated by Him.

But go, tell His disciples and Peter that He is going before you into Galilee. There you will see Him, even as He told you. Mark 16:7When a person is charmed by someone, for example, when a brother falls in love with a sister, he does all kinds of things that are out of the ordinary.

He may get out of his own way and do things that are crazy just to show that sister that he loves her, simply because he was charmed by her.

Similarly with Peter and the Lord Jesus; he was charmed by Christ, and he did all kinds of things out of his natural love for the Lord.

Peter failed miserably and was rebuked by the Lord, yet he still saw that Christ Himself is the preciousness to His believers, and he remained with the Lord to the end.

Even on the night that he was about to deny the Lord three times, the Lord prophesied to him concerning this, yet he still said that he would never betray the Lord but would rather die for Him (Luke 22:34-35).

But even a little servant girl who questioned him later caused him to react by denying the Lord three times.

The Lord knew this, and He did not forget about Peter; rather, on the morning of His resurrection, the angel told several women, Go, tell His disciples and Peter (Mark 16:7).

The Lord cared for Peter and Peter was charmed by the Lord; the Lord shepherded Peter to the end. Furthermore, the Lord personally told Mary Magdalene, Go to My brothers (John 20:17).

People in the world are charmed by all kinds of things that are vain, from cars to sports to different kinds of ball games; because they are charmed by these things, they waste their life, energy, and money on these things.

But the Lord Jesus Christ Himself is the preciousness to His believers, and when we see Him as the preciousness, we will give ourselves to Him to just enjoy Him.

When we see the Lord Jesus, when we realise His preciousness, when we see His unconditional love for us, we are simply charmed by Him.

He loves us without reason; He simply loves us. He charmed us. He attracted us to Himself. He daily captivates us in His word.

Yes, we fail. We fail miserably so many times, and we even deny the Lord. We do not let Christ live in us, nor do we let Him be expressed through us.

But the Lord is always there with us and for us. He rebukes us, yet He still draws us to Himself.

In Peter’s case, he realised that he and James and John had been admitted into the highest degree of initiation at the Lord’s transfiguration; they were admitted to be initiated spectators of His majesty (2 Pet. 1:16-18; 2 Pet. 5:1).

They were fishermen who were captivated by this wonderful Jesus, and they were brought up on the Mount of Transfiguration to see Him being transfigured before them.

For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we became eyewitnesses of that One's majesty. For He received from God the Father honor and glory, a voice such as this being borne to Him by the magnificent glory: This is My Son, My Beloved, in whom I delight. And this voice we heard being borne out of heaven while we were with Him in the holy mountain. 2 Pet. 1:16-18He testified that the disciples did not follow cleverly devised myths when they made known to us the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but they became eyewitnesses to Christ’s majesty.

On one hand, Christ will come in glory and majesty; on the other hand, Peter with James and John saw His glory!

In His ascension, Christ is “the Majestic”—He is our God and Savior (2 Pet. 1:1) and the Lord of all (1 Pet. 3:22; Acts 2:36) as our Judge, our Law maker, and our King in God’s government (Isa. 33:21-22) in order to dispense Himself into us to be our enjoyment for our full salvation (Rev. 22:1).

Christ is the Majestic One. He is our King in God’s government, and He dispenses Himself into us to be our enjoyment daily.

He is also our God and Saviour, and He is the Lord of all! When we come to the Lord in His word to enjoy Him, touch Him, and be infused with Him, we realise He is such a wonderful One!

Christ is the preciousness to His believers, and we can enjoy Him day by day!

He charms us, He draws us to Himself, and we are captivated by Him; we can daily behold Him and reflect Him so that we may be transformed into His image, from glory to glory!

Lord Jesus, cause us to see that Christ Himself is the preciousness to His believers! Amen, Lord, unveil us to see You! May we see Your preciousness today. May we see who You are, what You are, what You have done, and what You are doing in us and for us. We open to You, Lord Jesus! We are charmed by You. Nothing else compares to you. We follow You, dear Lord Jesus, for You are the most wonderful One! You are the Shepherd of our souls. Even though we fail many times and are rebuked by You, we still love You and come to You. Amen, Lord, may we see Your preciousness today. Thank You for being the preciousness to us, the believers in Christ. Though we have not seen You with our eyes, we love You, and we exult in You with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory! Amen, Lord, You are the Majestic! You are our God and Saviour! You are the Lord of all! You are our Judge, our Lawmaker, and our King in God’s government! We open to Your divine dispensing today! Be our enjoyment for our full salvation!

Enjoy Christ as the Preciousness: the Precious Stone, the Precious Blood, the Precious Promises, the Precious Faith, and the Precious Proving of our Faith

Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have been allotted faith equally precious as ours in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ. 2 Pet. 1:1

The apostle Peter saw that Christ Himself is the preciousness to His believers, and he said, To you who believe He is the preciousness. Christ is not only precious; He is the preciousness to us, the believers in Christ.

In his epistles, Peter uses the word precious many times.

In 1 Peter 2:4-8 we see that Christ Himself is the precious stone for God’s building. The builders rejected Him, but to God He is chosen and precious.

When we come to Him, we also become living stones, even precious stones suitable for God’s building.

Christ is the preciousness to us, His believers, and He infuses us with what He is for His building.

Thank the Lord that the precious blood of Christ has redeemed us from our vain manner of life (1 Pet. 1:14, 18-19).

The Lord shed His blood for us, and His blood is precious. His blood redeemed us not only from sin but even more, from our vain manner of life.

Before believing into the Lord, we had an empty, vain, and meaningless manner of life, for everything we pursued before was vain and empty. We had no goal.

But the precious blood of Christ redeemed us from our vain manner of life for us to live a holy life for the church life!

Now we can enjoy the precious and exceedingly great promises granted to us by God and Saviour, Jesus Christ (2 Pet. 1:1, 4; cf. Isa. 42:6; Heb. 8:8-12). Hallelujah for God’s promises!

We can enjoy the reality of God’s promises in His word by calling on the precious name of the Lord!

When we call on His name, we drink of Him as the cup of salvation, enjoying Christ as the reality of all the precious and exceedingly great promises of God for God’s building (Acts 4:10-12; Psa. 116:12-13).

What shall we give unto the Lord for all He has done for us? How can we enjoy all His promises in His word? Simply by calling on His name and praying over His word so that we may enjoy His precious promises!

We need to have face-to-face time with Him, even eye-to-eye contact with Him for us to enjoy what He is.

The cup of wrath was our portion, but now we enjoy the cup of blessing. When we read the promises of God in His word, we can simply say amen to the Lord’s word and claim them by faith.

He promises to regenerate us, renew us, transform us, conform us to His image, and glorify us.

Though we may seem to be hopeless cases, we can say Amen to His word and claim His promises, and He will do what He says in His word!

Christ truly is the preciousness to His believers, and we can enjoy His precious promises embodied in His word.

As we pray-read His promises, we partake of and enjoy the divine nature so that we may grow and develop in the divine life unto the maturity of life to enjoy a rich entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Pet. 1:4-11).

We just need to pray the promises of God. We need to take the Bible and make it our prayer book. We need to read the Bible in an atmosphere and spirit of prayer.

Through which He has granted to us precious and exceedingly great promises that through these you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption which is in the world by lust. 2 Pet. 1:4We just pray short prayers over the word of God, exercising to say Amen to His word.

Then He makes these promises our experience! Amen!

God has allotted to each of us, the believers in Christ, equally precious faith (2 Pet. 4:1). Each one of us has faith equally precious, and the measure of our faith depends on our cooperation with Him.

We should not think we have more faith than others, nether should we think that we are more advanced than others in faith; we simply need to enjoy the Lord in His word and grow in faith.

We do not have a sober mind if we think that we have more faith than the elders; this is to annul the proper order in the Body.

We all need to love the Lord, enjoy Him, and partake of the precious promises of God in His word to grow in life and increase our measure of faith!

In 1 Peter 1:6-7 we see that the precious proving of our faith is by various trials that come through sufferings. The Lord proves our faith, and even this proving is precious. Praise the Lord!

Lord Jesus, we want to enjoy You as the preciousness to us today. We come to You, a living stone, a stone that is precious, to be infused with You and become like You, a living stone! Infuse us more with Yourself. Cleanse us with Your precious blood. Thank You for redeeming us from our vain manner of life by Your precious blood! Amen, Lord, we come to You in Your word to enjoy the precious and exceedingly great promises granted to us by our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ! We call on Your name to drink the cup of salvation! We exercise our spirit to pray-read the promises of God in His word so that we may partake of and enjoy the divine nature! Amen, Lord, may the divine nature in us grow and develop unto the maturity of life! Praise the Lord, we all have been allotted equally precious faith, and we can grow in faith day by day! Amen, Lord, we love You as the preciousness to us!

The eternal kingdom in this verse refers to the kingdom of God, which was given to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Dan. 7:13-14) and which will be manifested at His coming back (Luke 19:11-12). It will be a reward to His faithful believers, who pursue the growth in His life unto maturity and the development of the virtues of His nature that in the millennium they may participate in His kingship in God’s glory (2 Tim. 2:12; Rev. 20:4, 6). To enter thus into the eternal kingdom of the Lord is related to entering into God’s eternal glory, to which God has called us in Christ (1 Pet. 5:10; 1 Thes. 2:12).

The development of the kingdom within us is actually our entrance into the kingdom. In 2 Peter 1:3-4 Peter speaks of the divine power granting to us all things which relate to life and godliness and of becoming partakers of the divine nature. Then in verses 5 through 11 we have the development through growth in life unto the rich entrance into the eternal kingdom.

In Greek, a word kindred to precious in vv. 4, 6. The very Christ chosen by God as a stone, even a cornerstone that is precious to God, is the preciousness to His believers; but to the unbelievers He is a rejected, despised stone. 1 Pet. 2:7 footnote 1 on, preciousness.

In his two Epistles Peter presents to us five precious things:

1) the precious stone, which is the Lord Himself (1 Pet. 2:4, 6-7);

2) the precious blood (v. 19);

3) the precious promises (2 Pet. 1:4);

4) the precious faith (2 Pet. 1:1);

5) the precious proving (v. 7).

1 Pet. 1:7 footnote 3 on, precious.
