Christ as our High Priest Intercedes for us until we’re Saved to the Uttermost

In His ascension in His heavenly ministry, Christ is now on the throne of God in heaven, and He is the High Priest doing mainly two things in His divine priesthood: He is saving us to the uttermost, and He is interceding for us before God. As the divine High Priest, the ascended Christ is interceding for us, and we need to respond to His intercession.

The fact that we believed into the Lord is not accidental but a result of Christ’s intercession for us. The fact that we still love the Lord and meet with the saints to enjoy Christ in the church life is not because of us or our fervent seeking of God but because of Christ’s intercession as our High Priest. If Christ would not intercede for us, none of us would be here.

Christ is right now in the heavens in “the heavenly White House” interceding for us so that we may be saved to the uttermost and be part of God’s purpose. He is a merciful High Priest, One who is full of compassion for us, and He undertakes our case before God to intercede for us.

Contrary to many believers’ concept, however, Christ as our divine High Priest is NOT interceding primarily for our physical and outward prosperity; rather, He appears before God on our behalf, praying that we may be fully saved and brought into God’s eternal purpose.

Christ knows our situation, our weaknesses, and our condition, and He intercedes for us constantly, day and night, since He knows how easy it is for us to fall and remain in a fallen state. We need to see His constant, perpetual, and eternal intercession, and cooperate with Him by seeking the things which are above and by praying to be one with Him in His intercession.

How wonderful it is to know that God has appointed Christ to take care of us, and He is now caring for us by mainly interceding for us! As a result of His intercession for us, we are regenerated and we’re being transformed, renewed, and will eventually be glorified! Praise the Lord for His intercession for us in the heavens!

The Ascended Christ as our High Priest takes care of us by Interceding for us

When Christ was on earth, He was busy doing the Father’s work, expressing the Father, speaking the Father’s words, and seeking the Father’s glory. Now Christ is in ascension, having died, resurrected, and ascended to the highest place in the universe; in His ascension Christ is interceding for us, ministering God into us, and executing God’s administration.

In His earthly ministry, He has fully accomplished the work of redemption; now in His heavenly ministry, Christ is interceding for us and ministering to us so that the church may be built up to be the Body of Christ and the bride of Christ for the fulfillment of God’s purpose.

By virtue of His eternal indestructible life Christ as our divine High Priest lives always to intercede for us so that we may be saved to the uttermost (Heb. 7:25). God has appointed Christ to take care of us, and He is now taking care of us by interceding for us.

We see this in the picture in Exodus 30 with the incense altar in the Holy of Holies, where incense is offered to God and God speaks to man and does things. The ark of the covenant is the testimony of God, the administrative center of the tabernacle, and the incense altar is the place where things happen, the executive center.

Christ in His ascension is caring for us by mainly interceding for us before God; He is in the “heavenly White House” (or the “heavenly no. 10 Downing Street”, if you live in the UK) where He intercedes for us all constantly and perpetually.

Christ’s intercession is the heavenly motor energizing us to take the journey all the way through repentance (the bronze altar in the tabernacle), being enlightened by God in His word (the lampstand), eating Christ as our daily supply (the showbread table), and on to maturity to be a full-grown man in Christ (in the Holy of Holies).

Hallelujah, Christ died for us, He was resurrected, and today in His ascension He is interceding for us and caring for us!

Hebrews 7:25 indicates that Christ is able to save us to the uttermost because He is always living to intercede for us. As our High Priest, Christ undertakes our case by interceding for us. He appears before God on our behalf, praying for us that we may be saved and brought fully into God’s eternal purpose. He intercedes for us constantly, knowing how easy it is for us to fall and, once we have fallen, to remain in our fallen state. Truly we are saved by His intercession. God has appointed Christ to take care of us, and He is now caring for us by interceding for us. He is interceding for us, and He will save us to the uttermost. Our Christ has passed through the heavens and is now higher than the heavens; such a High Priest was also fitting to us, holy, guileless, undefiled, separated from sinners and having become higher than the heavens (Heb. 7:26). He is far above all the heavens (Eph. 4:10), and He is able to rescue us and save us to the uttermost. How wonderful it is that Christ as our divine High Priest intercedes for us constantly before God until we are saved to the uttermost!

Lord, thank You for Your constant intercession for us before God until we are saved to the uttermost. Because of Your intercession we now love You, open to You, and pursue to grow in life and be transformed. Oh Lord Jesus, our divine High Priest, we love You and we want to cooperate with You in Your heavenly ministry of interceding for us. Lord, we firmly believe that You are able to save us to the uttermost by interceding for us daily before God! Thank You for undertaking our case and caring for us by interceding for us always!

Christ as our High Priest Intercedes for us until we’re Saved to the Uttermost

There are two verses in the Bible that speak of Christ’s intercession for us: Heb. 7:25 and Rom. 8:34. In both verses we see that Christ intercedes not for “poor and pitiful sinners to be saved” but for us to be saved to the uttermost and be glorified!

Rom. 8:34 tells us that Christ Jesus died and was raised, and is now in ascension at the right hand of God to intercede for us; later in Rom. 8 we see that the result and purpose of His intercession is that believers would be glorified. Heb. 7:25 tells us that Christ always lives to intercede so that we may be saved to the uttermost.

Christ doesn’t intercede for us to be prosperous and have a good situation outwardly, neither does He merely intercede for us to be rescued from sin and not perish; Christ intercedes for us before God so that we may be saved to the uttermost, that is, that we may be glorified.

Christ intercedes for us to be saturated with God until we are filled with God and express God corporately; when our whole being has been saturated and permeated with Christ’s divine priesthood, we will be glorified; this is the redemption of our body (Rom. 8:23). Hallelujah!

We need to see that Christ intercedes for us in such a way and rest in His intercession, trusting in it and enjoying it. We shouldn’t believe our failures; no matter how many times we fail, Christ intercedes for us to be saved to the uttermost.

Sooner or later Christ’s intercession will overcome us, subdue us, and save us to the uttermost. He never forgets that we have called on His name and have His life in our spirit, and He lives always to intercede for us until we are saved to the uttermost.

We simply need to keep coming to the Lord every day and open to Him, talk to Him, pray over His word, and fellowship with Him. Even though we may fall, Christ as the heavenly High Priest continues to pray for us; He knows how easy it is for us to fall and, once we have fallen, to remain in our fallen state – therefore He intercedes for us until we are fully saved!

Our Christ is a perpetual, constant, and eternal intercessor, and we can be assured that as a result of His intercession we will be saved to the uttermost to express Him corporately as the Body of Christ in this universe.

Lord Jesus, we open to You. You are so rich. We need You. Lord, keep us open to You all the time. We believe into You as our divine High Priest who intercedes for us until we are saved to the uttermost. Lord, we do NOT believe in our failures. Even though it is easy for us to fail and fall, we want to keep turning to You and enjoy You. Lord Jesus, we trust in Your intercession and we rest assured that You are able to save us to the uttermost. Keep us coming forward to God through Christ again and again until the divine priesthood saturates our entire being to make us part of Your glorious expression!
