Whoever is thirsty, let him come and drink the water of life! Are you thirsty? Come to Christ and drink!

This morning I was impressed with the fact that the Triune God went through the process of incarnation, human living, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension, to become the living water for us to drink! Now He has become our practical salvation to be drunk and enjoyed by us!

What shall I give unto the Lord for all He has done for me? I will raise the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord (Psa. 116:12-13)! All we can do is just come to Him and take a drink! Whoever is thirsty – whether you are an unbeliever or a believer – come to Him and drink!

The qualification for someone to drink is just to be thirsty! Indeed God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts – we think that we have to DO something for Him, but God thinks and desires that He would come into us as the living waters to fill our being and overflow from us!

There is a CALL that God sounds throughout the Bible and throughout the centuries – He is calling the thirsty ones to come to Him and drink! As long as you are somebody – as long as you are part of “everyone”, you are qualified to come and drink! Also, as long as you are thirsty, you can come to Him and drink!

John 7:37 says,

Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone athirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

It is a great blessing to be thirsty – God put in us a thirst for something eternal. We thirst not only for physical drink, and our real thirst is NOT satisfied with entertainment, internet, sports, news, or anything that feeds the soul. Our real thirst is quenched when we come open to the Lord to drink of Him! We need to pay this price – we need to come to Him!

Even as believers – don’t be arrogant or proud, don’t think you know the Bible and this is enough: come to Christ as the living water and drink of Him! It is a blessing to hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matt. 5:6)! Man was made with a continual thirst for God (Psa. 22:2), and it is human to be thirsty. Our soul thirsts for God in a waterless place, and we faint in longing after Him (Psa. 63:1).

Though we may not see Him or physically touch Him, we can drink of God as the living waters by faith – and our longing is satisfied! It is just like John 4:14 says,

But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall by no means thirst forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water gushing up into eternal life.

You may drink of “this water” (see John 4:13) – the water the world has to offer, even the best water out there – but you will thirst again and your thirst will not be quenched. BUT if you as a thirsty one come to Christ as the living water, He will quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger – and the water you drink of Him will become in you a FOUNTAIN, a SPRING, gushing up into eternal life! How about that!

This is living water – coming into us and springing out of us, flowing us into the totality of the eternal life, the New Jerusalem! Even in eternity, we will continue to drink of the spring of water of life freely (Rev. 21:6), and there is continual call by the Spirit with the Bride – whoever is thirsty, let him Come and Drink (Rev. 22:17)! This is what God desires – that we may come to Him as the fountain of living waters and drink of Him!

[enjoyment from message 10 in the Crystallization-Study of Isaiah (2); this article is a continuation of, if you are thirsty, come to God as the fountain of living waters and take a drink!]

Lord, only You satisfy! You are the living water! Thank You for putting a deep thirst in our being – which nothing under the sun but only God can satisfy! O, Lord, show us the vanity of any other thing or any other water! May we forsake any other source of “water” and come to You to drink of You! Lord, we are thirsty! Lord Jesus, we come to You to drink of You! We hunger and we thirst for You, Lord! Our soul and our inward being longs for You! We long to drink of You and be filled with You as living water!
