Amen! Christ wants to make His home in our heart through faith – and for this He makes Himself one with us (he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit, 1 Cor. 6:17) and He draws us to Himself that we may spend time with Him in our spirit!
This morning I was encouraged to pray-read again Ephesians 3:14-19 with the brothers – and it is so refreshing to mention it and enjoy it…
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father, Of whom every family in the heavens and on earth is named, That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit into the inner man, That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love, May be full of strength to apprehend with all the saints what the breadth and length and height and depth are, And to know the knowledge-surpassing love of Christ, that you may be filled unto all the fullness of God.
Our inward being is like a building, composed of four main rooms: our mind, our emotion, our will, and our spirit. Our spirit is a unique room – a wonderful room that joins earth to heaven and brings heaven to earth! Here we need to spend more time that we may be more one with the Lord!
But we all have to admit that we don’t spend too much time in the room of our mingled spirit – and this is why Paul the Apostle bows his knees unto the Father, that He would strengthen us with His divine power through His Spirit into our inner man, so that Christ may make His home in our heart through faith!
“Whenever we turn to our spirit, everything is ready for Christ to move, to work, to spread, and to root Himself in our entire being. Christ desires to spread within us, to work Himself and to root Himself deep down into every part of our inner being, our heart (Eph. 3:17)” (quote from, The Body of Christ, by bro. Witness Lee).
This is so precious – the Lord WANTS to make His home in our heart, but He needs our cooperation to turn to our spirit – when we turn to our spirit, everything is ready for Him to root Himself and make His home deep down in our heart, into every room of our heart!
On the one hand, we need to turn to our spirit; on the other hand, our great High Priest is interceding for us in the heavens all the time – that we may turn!
Sometimes we may NOT FEEL LIKE IT to turn to our spirit – we just can’t be bothered to, we’re too busy, we may be too occupied with other things, or we may just be BORED – but there is something within us reminding us to turn to the Lord and call on Him! We may open one time to Him and honestly tell Him,
“O Lord Jesus, I do not love You – or at least I don’t feel like I love You right now – but Lord, make me willing to love You”…. and then we may continue to say something like, “Lord Jesus, have mercy upon me and turn me to Yourself! Lord, fill me with Yourself! Occupy me and spread within me…”
Such honest prayers to the Lord, such small openings as a reaction to His interceding for us and working within us, are a practical way to let Christ make His home deep down in our heart. He wants to have access to every part of our being, to make His home into every part of our being, to root Himself down in our heart… but He needs our permission to do it! Whenever we simply turn to our spirit and pray to Him or call on His name, or just talk to Him, He comes in to make His home in our heart a little more!
When we are strengthened into our inner man through such prayers to the Lord, Christ can make His home in our heart through faith and we are full of strength! We are full of strength to apprehend with all the saints what the universal dimensions of this Wonderful Christ are!
When we come to the meetings of the church we meet with the saints so that we may apprehend with them the dimensions of the universally extensive Christ – the breadth, the length, the height, and the depth (Eph. 3:18)… As we apprehend with all the saints what the universal dimensions of Christ are, we are led to know the knowledge-surpassing love of Christ that we may be filled unto all the fullness of God (Eph. 3:19) to be the Body of Christ!
This is what the Body of Christ is – the result of our being filled with the extensive Christ to be the very expression, the manifestation in full, of the Triune God! It all starts with us turning to our spirit to allow Christ to make His home in our heart a little more today… [portion of enjoyment inspired from, the HWMR on The Central Line of the Bible]
Lord, make Your home in all our heart! We just open to You, dear Lord! Come into every room of our heart – come into our mind, come into our emotion, and come into our will – and make Yourself at home in us! We love You, Lord! Strengthen us more with power through Your Spirit into our inner man! Lord, make Your home in our heart a little more today!
AMEN! Lord, make Your home in our hearts! Root and ground us in Your love!
Oh Lord Jesus! Remind us to turn to our mingled Spirit, that You may make Your home more and more into our heart!
Amen, Lord, keep us turning to our spirit all the time until we will BE in our spirit forever!
