If we would be in the continuation of the book of Acts, we need to continue to live in the divine history by having an upper-room consecration; we need to pay the price to have our whole being “married” to the heavenly vision so that the Lord would gain His testimony on the earth today. Amen!
May we be those who continue to live in the divine history within human history to be the continuation of the book of Acts for the spreading and building up of the church as the corporate manifestation of Christ.
If we read the book of Acts with the view of what God is doing on earth in the divine history, we realise that the disciples of Christ, who continued Christ on earth, lived in a different realm.
Yes, they lived in the earthly realm, taking care of many practical matters, doing many practical things, and going to different places.
However, they also lived in the divine history within human history. They were the acting God on earth; they became so one with the Lord that, when others saw them, they saw Jesus.
Their being one with the Lord in their speaking, moving, and working was for the spreading and building up of the church as the corporate manifestation of Christ.
They called on the name of the Lord and were even identified as those who called on Jesus. They were willing to suffer on behalf of the Lord’s name, even considering it a real honour to be dishonoured on behalf of the name of Jesus.
Everything they did was in the name of Jesus, especially their speaking.
The disciples lived in the divine history by being in the Body of Christ; they lived, moved, and acted as one Body, and everything they did was in the Body and for the Body.
They didn’t live by their natural life but rejected themselves and lived by another life – Christ as the divine life in their spirit. Therefore, the Lord had a way to gain the reality of the Body of Christ, the corporate living of Christ on earth at that time.
The disciples lived in the divine history by continuing steadfastly in prayer and in the ministry of the word to give the ascended Head the cooperation He needs to carry out His heavenly ministry as our great High Priest.
The disciples were one with Christ as the centre of God’s move on earth, and they continued to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ!
They enjoyed, lived, and proclaimed the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and as the holy things of David, the faithful things, which is all that Christ is as God’s sure mercies to us. Amen!
And all of this started in Acts 1, where the one hundred and twenty had an upper-room consecration to the Lord for His move on the earth. This is what the Lord wants to gain among us today.
The Disciples had an Upper-Room Consecration, Burning the Bridges and Being One with the Lord for His move
Acts 1:13-14 shows us that the one hundred twenty continued steadfastly in one accord in prayer, together with the women and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
Before the Lord’s death the disciples had no interest in praying for spiritual things (see Luke 22:40, 45-46); rather, they actually contended among themselves as to which of them was considered to be the greatest (Luke 22:24).
But after the Lord’s resurrection and ascension, they had been regenerated by the Lord’s life, and their spiritual condition changed radically.
There was no more contention among themselves but rather, they continued steadfastly with one accord in prayer, at least for ten days before Pentecost, when they received the outpoured Spirit of power economically.
The Lord told them to remain in Jerusalem (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4) until the Holy Spirit would come; they then, having received this commission, prayed in one accord, and the Lord had a way to pour out His Spirit economically.
God wanted to pour out His Spirit for the carrying out of His New Testament economy, and He has promised to do so. Yet He still needed His chosen people to pray and cooperate with Him to do this.
The one hundred and twenty had the upper-room consecration. There were about one hundred twenty of them, and they prayed in one accord for ten days.
They not only prayed but also consecrated themselves to the Lord, offering themselves to Him in a very real and practical way.
Yes, many of them had already consecrated themselves to the Lord three and a half years earlier when the Lord called them on the seashore or where He met them and called them, but now they had an upper-room consecration.
Their experience in the upper room was a new kind of consecration; it was not merely an ordinary consecration to follow the Lord but something specific.
When the Lord called Peter on the seashore, he gave up his job, but in the upper room, he gave up much more. The disciples were in the upper room at the risk of their life. Those in the upper room were willing to risk their lives to be there.
They were regenerated by the Lord as life, and now they consecrated themselves to the Lord in a specific way.
Everything was dedicated in a practical way and was dedicated at any cost. They paid the price of their forefathers’ religion, their country, their relationships with their neighbours and friends, their relatives and families, and even the price of their life.
They were willing to put everything on the altar and risk everything for one thing: the upper room consecration for the Lord to send what He promised He would.
Peter and the disciples stood with the heavenly vision to give up the religion of his forefathers; he gave up his country, his relationship with his neighbours and friends, and his relatives; he was even willing to risk his life.
They were willing to burn the bridges and never look back, for they have seen the heavenly vision and were “married” to it; there was nothing else in the world or in religion for them, they were only for the Lord and His purpose.
Their whole being was held by this heavenly vision, and they were beside themselves with this heavenly vision.
This is the upper-room consecration, and this is what the Lord needs to gain among us today.
We need to come to the Lord as we read chapter 1 of Acts and give ourselves to Him in a fresh and specific way to have the upper-room consecration He needs today.
Lord Jesus, we love You and we give ourselves to You. We want to have the upper-room consecration today. May we continue to live in the divine history within human history by having an upper-room consecration to You today. Shine on us, Lord, and infuse us with the heavenly vision of Your economy. May a clear, controlling vision of Your economy direct our heart and set our whole being on fire for You and for Your purpose on earth. Amen, Lord, we stand with the heavenly vision You have shown us. We give ourselves to You to be for Your purpose on earth today. We do not look back, we do not want to remain in anything of the past, and we forsake anything of the past. Amen, Lord, may the heavenly vision strengthen us to give up everything to follow You and not stand with anything of religion, background, family, or even our own life but give ourselves fully to You! Amen, Lord, gain an upper room consecration in us and among us so that You may have a way to move in an unhindered way!
We need an Upper-Room Consecration, Paying the Price to be “Married” to the Heavenly Vision
May we come to the Lord today to buy the eyesalve, as He counsels us in Rev. 3:18, that we may see.
He wants us to see the heavenly vision of His eternal economy, even the vision of what He wants to do today on earth, but we need to pay the price to buy the eyesalve to see. It’s not just to pray or ask or take by faith, but to pay the price.
May we all, by the Lord’s mercy, pay the price to be willing to be in the upper room and have an upper-room consecration.
When the Lord anoints our eyes and we truly see, the heavens will be opened, any scales will fall from our eyes, and we will see the heavenly vision. This vision will govern us and direct us.
The kind of consecration we need today is an upper-room consecration, a consecration in which we pay the price to have our whole being “married” to the heavenly vision (Acts 26:19; 1:8; 20:24).
There’s no divorce or separation; we simply see the heavenly vision, as Paul did, and we cannot be disobedient to the heavenly vision.
If we pay the price for the heavenly vision, we will “burn the bridges” behind us and will have no way to go back, even as the early disciples did.
The early disciples burned any bridges between them and their past, their background, their family, and their former religion to the extent that there was no way for them to go back; even if they wanted to, they were no longer received.
It is the same with us today. We need to take the Lord’s way absolutely today; this way is not cheap but expensive, requiring a costly consecration.
To take the way of the Lord’s recovery is not cheap; we need to have an upper-room consecration today.
We are not here for a movement but for the Lord’s recovery, and the recovery can be carried out only by the specific and extraordinary consecration in the upper room.
This will cost us the religion of our forefathers, our country, our background, our relationships with our neighbours and relatives, and even our own life.
Once we see the heavenly vision of God’s economy and are captivated by it, we cannot help but have an upper-room consecration.
The Lord can carry out and realise His recovery only by the experience of the consecration in the upper room.
When we give ourselves to the Lord for His interest on the earth, having an upper-room consecration together with the saints He is vitalising us with, we all become a burnt offering.
Like the one hundred twenty in Acts 1, we become a burnt offering, being burned and burning others.
The Lord as the divine fire, will burn in us and among us; He will burn all the dross away, and He will burn in us and through us, spreading the fire of the divine life to those around us.
This is not a movement of man nor is it an organised event or move in Christianity; it is the upper-room consecration to become a burnt offering, burning for the Lord in spirit (Luke 12:49-50; Acts 2:3-4; Rom. 12:11).
The fire of the divine life burns in us, and we burn others also with the fire of the divine life.
The Lord said that He came to cast fire on the earth, and He wishes it were kindled; this is the fire of the divine life.
If we see the heavenly vision and are “married” to it, we will burn any bridges and have an upper-room consecration to allow the Lord to do what He wants to do in us and through us.
If we see the heavenly vision, we will pay the price to give up all things that are part of us, close to us, and dear to us, including our country, our relationship with our neighbours, friends, relatives, and family.
The Lord Jesus said that He didn’t come to bring in peace but a sword, and in a family, two will be against three. Oh Lord!
Father will be against son, mothers against the children, in-laws against each other; this is not something we seek to have, but the result of seeing the heavenly vision will be this.
The upper-room consecration will separate us from all things unto that vision so that we may be filled with the heavenly vision and have the impulse of the divine fire burning in us.
Many were around the Lord Jesus when He was on earth, and crowds pressed against Him and followed Him; however, only one hundred twenty were in the upper room.
Great crowds followed Him, yet they did not afford Him anything for His move. His move is not with the crowds but with those in the upper room, with those whose eyes have been opened and whose hearts have been touched (Acts 17:6).
May our eyes be opened and may our hearts be touched today to see that we have no option, no other choice but to take this way to the end.
The Lord wants to gain a small number of people who have an upper-room consecration; these will turn the world upside down and change the age.
If we would be in the upper room, we need to pray in a specific way and tell the Lord,
Lord Jesus, by Your mercy we want to buy the eyesalve to anoint our eyes for us to see the heavenly vision. By Your mercy we are willing to pay the price to be in the upper room. Amen, Lord, we are willing to be in the upper room for the recovery of Your testimony. Grant us to see the heavenly vision and be married to it to the extent that we are willing to set everything else aside for You to gain Your testimony on the earth today! Amen, Lord, we don’t just want to press against You and know about You; we want to see the heavenly vision and pay the price to follow this vision for You to accomplish it today! May the impulse of the divine life burn in us and keep us in the line of Your economy today. We want to have an upper-room consecration for You to gain what You are after on the earth today, the recovery of Your testimony! Amen, Lord, gain the overcomers who will turn the world upside down and change the age! Gain the upper-room consecration in us and in all the saints for You to have a way to end this age and bring in the age of the kingdom!

– “With one accord” within an upper room / The faithful followers of Jesus met: / One was the hope of every waiting soul, / And on one object great each heart was set. / “With one accord,” until the mighty gift / Of pentecostal power was outpoured; / Then forth as witnesses possessed of God, / To preach the resurrection of the Lord! Dear brother, we need to have the upper room consecration for the Lord’s move on earth today.
The kind of consecration that we need today is an upper-room consecration, a consecration in which we pay the price to have our whole being “married” to the heavenly vision.
Amen Lord Jesus, by Your mercy may we be those whose eyes are opened and hearts are touched to be in the upper room like those one hundred and twenty.
The way of the Lord’s recovery is not cheap; by Your mercy, we are willing to pay the price. May we be in our spirit today
I was impressed by how small the number of disciples consecrated in the upper room, yet they turn the world upside down.
Thank You, Lord, for showing us more details of the upper room consecration atmosphere and environment. Oh Lord Jesus, we love You
Thank You for showing us that Your recovery is not cheap but worth all we are and have. Lord, have mercy on me so that I buy eyesalve, may scales fall off my eyes so that I may see the heavenly vision~
Lord, bring us into the meaning & living experience Acts 29 – into what it means today, to live in the divine history by the upper room consecration! Teach us what is is to be married to such a heavenly vision – forsaking *all earthly ties in consecration, even to pay the costly price at the risk of our own lives.
For this, Lord burn us thoroughly that we may, in turn, burn others with this consuming divine Spirit. We offer ourselves to be part of the small group of Your followers who will turn this world upside down to change the age.
For the recovery of Your testimony, we come to buy from You, refined gold, white linen, and eyesalve. Remove the worldly scales from our eyes. By Your mercy, we’re willing to pay the price to be in the upper room!
Amen, brother! The Lord gain the upper room consecration amongst us today for His move and kingdom!
