Acts 20:28 tells us that God obtained the church through His own blood, for God was incarnated to be the Lord Jesus, the God-man, who died as the Son of Man to shed His blood and as the Son of god to obtain an eternal redemption, for the blood of Christ is eternally effective. Hallelujah!
It is amazing to see in the book of Acts, in portion after portion, that the Divine Trinity operates and works together as one for the purpose of dispensing the Triune God into man to fulfil God’s New Testament economy.
The disciples of Christ are vessels of Christ, those who contain the Triune God and who flow out the Triune God in their daily living.
We are the disciples of Christ, and we are daily being constituted with the all-inclusive Spirit so that we may work one with the Spirit and have our work as the work of the Spirit.
Every believer in Christ does a work for the Lord, and our work for Him depends on the kind of Spirit that we’re directed and constituted.
What kind of Spirit are we constituted with today? Do we exercise our spirit to contact the Lord, enjoy Him, be filled with Him, and flow Him out to others also?
The Spirit today is a bountiful, all-inclusive Spirit with our spirit, and when we exercise our spirit, serve in spirit, and do all things in spirit, our work will be the work of the Spirit in us and through us.
God went through a process to become the all-inclusive, life-giving Spirit, and as such a Spirit, He is now in us to transform us into the image of Christ, fill us with the element of God, and lead us in all things.
Thank the Lord that we have the Spirit with our spirit! May we be in spirit, may we do all things in the mingled spirit, and may we exercise our spirit in all things so that we may flow out the Spirit to others also!
As we exercise our spirit to open to the Lord, the Father strengthens us into our inner man according to the riches of His glory through His Spirit, and Christ makes His home in our heart.
The result is that the Triune God is working Himself into us in His Divine Trinity, and we become persons constituted with the Triune God. Our whole being, our inner being, is being reconstituted with what God is.
Then, what will come out of us will be the Triune God as the Spirit flowing out to others, and our work will be the Spirit’s work in us and through us.
God was Incarnated to be the Son of Man and Purchase the Church with His own Blood
A wonderful picture of the Divine Trinity being the structure of the book of Acts can be seen in Acts 20:28, where Paul tells the elders in Ephesus that God purchased the church through His own blood.
The Greek word translated “obtained” also means “acquired” or “purchased.” God purchased the church through His own blood. God acquired the church through His own blood.
It is quite unusual, however, to say that God has blood, for He is not a man nor is He a creature; He is the Creator, so how can He have blood?
Before the incarnation of Christ, God did not have human blood, and He could not have died for us. But praise the Lord that one day the great I AM, the eternal One, Jehovah, was incarnated to be mingled with man.
He was now not just God but also man; He became a God-man. Jesus Christ is the first God-man, and as such a One, He has human blood and is able to die for us.
God purchased the church by paying the price of His own blood. When He died on the cross, Christ died not only as a Man but also as God.
This is incomprehensible for our human mind, for we are limited in what we can understand.
Jesus Christ was different from everyone around Him, for He was conceived of God and born of God, yet He was also a man; His essence was both divine and human.
In Christ, the divine element was mingled with the human element, and divinity was mingled with humanity.
We see this in John 1:14 where we are told that God became a man, the Word was incarnated to be flesh, and God came to tabernacle in the tent of human flesh among us today.
The Lord Jesus was a God-man of two natures – divinity and humanity. Praise the Lord!
Through His incarnation, God joined Himself to humanity so that God might be manifested in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16) and so that He might be our Saviour (Luke 2:11) who died for us, shedding His blood for us. Praise the Lord!
We human beings are born in sin and rebellion against God, but here is a Man who was perfect – He was the perfect God-man who died to redeem us, the fallen human beings.
As sinners, we need genuine human blood for our redemption; because Christ was a man, He could fulfil this requirement.
This is how Paul could say that God obtained the church with His own blood, for God was there, in Jesus and as Jesus, redeeming us with His own blood, the blood of the first God-man. Praise the Lord!
Since Jesus was also the Son of God, having divinity, there was the eternal element there, and the blood of Jesus is now eternally effective. Praise the Lord!
As a man, Jesus had genuine human blood. As God, He had the element that gives eternal efficacy to His blood.
This is why today we can believe into the Lord Jesus and have His redemption be applied to us, for He didn’t just die as the perfect man to redeem us but also as the Son of God, giving eternal efficacy to this wonderful redemption.
Praise the Lord, the blood the Lord Jesus shed on the cross was not only the blood of Jesus as the Son of Man but also the blood of Christ as the Son of God!
For this reason, the redemption Christ accomplished on the cross is now eternal, for it is the God-man who accomplished this redemption!
If Christ were just a man, He could not have redeemed us all, and He could not have shed His blood to purchase the church. But Christ is both God and man, and as God, His blood has eternal efficacy and His redemption is an eternal redemption! Praise the Lord!
Hebrews 9:12 tells us that Christ obtained an eternal redemption, for His blood is the blood of the God-man with human blood and eternal efficacy!
Today we can believe into the Lord Jesus and have the eternal redemption of Christ applied to us, and we can be purchased by God to be part of the church, which God has purchased with His own blood!
How we love the Lord for this! How we praise God for His eternal redemption!
And how amazing it is to see the Divine Trinity in this matter, for God purchased the church through His own blood, which is the blood of Jesus, and Christ offered Himself to God on the cross through the eternal Spirit. Wow!
So Christ on the cross offered Himself to God through the eternal Spirit, God purchased the church, and Christ shed His blood; all these are to purchase the church! Praise the Lord!
Hallelujah, God obtained the church through His own blood! Thank You, Lord, for becoming a man with human flesh and blood so that You can shed Your blood and purchase the church. Thank You for coming through incarnation to mingle God with man and divinity with humanity. Hallelujah, Jesus Christ is the God-man, having genuine human blood and also having the divine element to obtain an eternal redemption! Wow, Lord, we praise You for dying for us on the cross to purchase the church with God’s own blood! Hallelujah, the One who died for us on the cross was Jesus the Son of Man, having genuine human blood, and He was also Christ as the Son of God, having the divine element in Him! Praise the Lord, Christ has obtained an eternal redemption for us, and the blood of Jesus is eternally effective today for us to apply and enjoy. Amen, Lord, may we see that the blood shed by the Lord Jesus on the cross is eternal blood. May we realise the preciousness of the church, which God has purchased with His own blood!
Apply the Eternally Effective Blood of Christ and Treasure the Church as God Does
Acts 20:28 tells us of the fact that God purchased the church with His own blood.
When we realise what this means, when we see that God went through the processes of incarnation, perfect human living, crucifixion, death, resurrection, and ascension so that God may purchase the church with His own blood, we will treasure the church as God does.
To God, the church is the most precious thing. He considers the church so precious that He came to die for the church and obtain it with His own blood.
It’s like the parable given by the Lord Jesus where a man digs and finds a treasure in a field, and then he goes and sells all he has to purchase that field and have that treasure (Matt. 13:44-46).
We may think the church is precious, but do we see how precious the church is in the eyes of God? God didn’t count the cost, didn’t cut any corners, and didn’t just pay the price of His time or energy; He paid the price of His own blood to purchase the church. How precious is the church to God!
If we see the preciousness of the church before God, we will treasure the church as God does.
We will also give ourselves for the church, spending and being spent on behalf of the saints, for we consider the church as being very precious.
Paul wasted himself upon the Lord and on the church (1 Thes. 2:8), giving everything he had and was for the saints to be shepherded, cared for, and brought on to maturity.
He preferred to die and be with the Lord, for he was in prison and knew that he might never get out of there, but for the progress and joy of the saints’ faith, he remained with them (Phil. 1:23-25).
He wanted the saints to enjoy the Lord, experience Christ, and be built up together, for Paul cared for the church. Amen!
Also, if we see the effectiveness of the Lord’s precious blood shed for us on the cross, we will treasure and apply the blood of Christ today.
1 John 1:7 tells us that, if we walk in the light as Christ is in the light and as God is light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from every sin.
We may treasure the church, and we may want to do many things for the church, but first of all, we need to walk in the light.
We simply need to walk in what God is, abiding in the Lord and being one with Him. As we walk in the light as He is in the light, He shines on us, exposes our sins and trespasses, and we simply confess our sins.
1 John 1:9 tells us that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We simply need to come to Him again and again throughout the day, and we need to learn to habitually walk in the light.
As we walk in the light by exercising our spirit to contact the Lord in all things, the eternally efficacious blood of Christ cleanses us and washes us from all our sins. We confess our sins and He forgives us of our sins.
Thank the Lord for the blood of Jesus, the Son of God and the Son of Man, which was shed on the cross. His blood was shed for our sins, and this blood redeemed us back to God from everything else.
We simply need to apply the blood of Jesus, a genuine man who died for the redeeming of God’s fallen creatures, with the divine surety for its eternal efficacy!
Hallelujah, the blood of Jesus is eternally effective, all-prevailing in space and everlasting in time.
In this age, we can apply the precious blood of Jesus, and we can be cleansed and washed from all our sins so that we may enjoy more fellowship with the Lord and with one another.
Lord Jesus, we love You and we love the church. May we treasure the church even as You do, realising that the church is so precious to You that You purchased the church with Your own blood! Wow, God purchased the church with His own blood, for He saw the preciousness of the church and gave up everything to gain her! Amen, Lord, may we be those who are one with You today to treasure the church, care for the church, and give our all for the church. We come to You, Lord, and we want to walk in the light so that we may have fellowship with one another and so that the blood of Jesus may cleanse us from every sin. Hallelujah, the blood of Jesus is eternally effective, and we can apply this precious blood today! Amen, Lord, we thank You for Your eternal redemption. We apply the precious blood of Jesus so that we may continue to walk in the light, have fellowship with one another, and do all things for the building up of the church!

Acts 20:28 footnote 5 on, His own blood, Recovery Version Bible.
God the Father purchased the church with His own blood, the blood of Jesus Christ, God incarnated to be a man.
Hallelujah, because God became a man, He has human blood, and because He is also God, His blood is eternally effective!
We can now apply the blood of Christ and continue to have fellowship with one another, walking in the light.
Amen, when the God-man, Jesus Christ died on the cross, He died as a man shedding His blood and a God who had the divine element mingled with Him.
The blood He shed is eternally effective and could not be accomplished merely by man.
What is limited for man is unlimited for God and what is temporal for man is eternal for God.
To establish the New Testament, God in incarnation mingled with man to become a God-man, constituted with divinity and humanity.
So, the blood shed to redeem fallen man was not only that of the man Lord Jesus, but also of the Son of God, even God Himself.
By the blood of His Son, we have been redeemed by God, purchasing us with His own blood of worth, the eternal blood, as the guarantee of its eternal efficacy in this His new and better covenant.
May we learn daily to exercise to apply His blood in which we have our defence against Satan’s darts, our sanctification, fellowship with God and man, the overcoming victory over the enemy, and our peace.
Today in the church we have been redeemed with an eternal redemption, Jesus the Son of God – the God-man, having shed His own blood on the cross for us, through which He obtained the church.
Because His blood is of a man mingled with God, consisting of a genuine man with the divine element, it has eternal efficacy.
Hallelujah for this precious blood that is updated day after day, we give it the value that God gives it and even speaks better than Saint Abel …
1. We will sing to the Lord with our spirit,
We will sing to the Lord from within,
We will sing hallelujah to Jesus;
And be blent into oneness with Him.
2. We have been many years in religion,
We have been many years in our mind,
We have been many years in emotions,
Always seeking, but never to find.
3. Now we’re learning to turn to our spirit,
Now we’re learning to take Christ as life;
Now we’re learning to feed upon Jesus
And be freed from all struggling and strife.
4. Hallelujah for life in the Spirit,
Hallelujah for newness within.
When we turn from our mind to our spirit,
We enjoy all the riches of Him.

Amen Lord !!!
Amen, Lord apply your blood to us today..
We need to see that the blood shed by Jesus on the cross is eternal blood with eternal efficacy.
As a God-man, Christ had genuine human blood mingled with the divine element of God.
As human beings, we need genuine human blood for our redemption but we also need blood that is eternal so that our redemption can be an eternal redemption.
Someone who is just a man cannot die for billions of others.
Therefore, in Christ’s redemption there is the eternal & unlimited element of God Himself. How awesomely wise is our God.
His thoughts & ways are far beyond human thoughts & ways. It’s a fearful thing to think we can question God’s thoughts & ways.
God has purchased and obtained the church through His own blood. Praise the Lord!!
Through incarnation our God, the Creator, the eternal One, partook of blood and flesh and became mingled with man.
As a result, He was no longer only God; He became a God-man, who had blood and was able to die for us.
When the Lord Jesus, the God-man, died on the cross, He died not only as man but also as God.
The blood was not only the blood of the man Jesus but also the blood of the God-man.
Amen. Hallelujah for the blood of Jesus!
Thank You, Lord, for purchasing us for Your church.
