Being Trained by the Lord Jesus to be Jesusly Human living a Divinely Human Life

For God’s building we need to be the most human of people, those who are “Jesusly” human.Because the humanity of Jesus is the only material qualified to be in the building of God, we need to be Jesusly human, that is, the most human of people, those who are under the Lord’s training to let Jesus live in them.

The Lord’s death on the cross terminated our old man, crucifying it and nailing it to the cross, and in resurrection we were regenerated by God and the humanity of Jesus was implanted in our spirit. Through Christ’s redemption we are brought back to the proper humanity – an uplifted, resurrected humanity, which is the humanity of Jesus.

We were created in God’s image and according to His likeness to be filled with God’s life so that God may be expressed through us in our humanity.

However, because of the fall of man, sin came in and ruined, damaged, and corrupted our humanity; now our humanity is no longer a suitable material for God’s building, that is, we cannot express God through our fallen humanity.

Therefore, Jesus Christ came and regenerated our redeemed, God-created humanity in His resurrection, and the divine element uplifted the regenerated humanity.

In His death Christ terminated our old man, and in His resurrection He regenerated our God-created humanity (which was redeemed by Him) to make it a regenerated and uplifted humanity.

After being regenerated with God’s life to be a new man, we still have our humanity, but it is no longer the fallen and sinful humanity but it is a resurrected and regenerated humanity. It is through this humanity, a new humanity, that God can be expressed.

When it is no longer the old man living but Christ living in us, and the life we live in the flesh is in faith, in the organic union with Christ, we live out the humanity of Jesus. This humanity, the humanity of Jesus in our spirit being lived out in us, is for God’s building; this humanity is the uplifted, resurrected humanity of Jesus.

This means that, the more we advance with the Lord, the more we take Christ as our life, and the more we experience Christ, the more human we become – but we become not naturally human but Jesusly human!

This is what we need to be today for God’s building: we need to be Jesusly human for God’s building, for God’s corporate expression!

We need to be Jesusly Human – Human in a Jesus way – for God’s Corporate Expression

2 Cor. 4:10-11 Always bearing about in the body the putting to death of Jesus that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who are alive are always being delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. It is very hard to find believers who no longer live in their fallen humanity (which may be improved, cultivated, and refined) but live the humanity of Jesus.

Whether formal Christians, fundamental Christians, inner-life Christians, or free Christians, no matter what kind of Christians we are, it is not easy to see the humanity of Jesus.

The One sitting on the throne of God in Ezek. 1:26 has the appearance of a man and the glory of God; the goal of God’s salvation and His purpose is to obtain a man, a proper man, who lives the same way that Jesus lived – and for this we need to be Jesusly human.

We are not speaking of being more human, “letting our hair down”, going to the beach, engaging in sports, watching TV, etc to be “more human”; what we speak of is being “Jesusly human”, human in a Jesus way.

We shouldn’t bring anything natural into the realm of the church, into the realm of Jesus. We need another kind of humanity – not the fallen humanity nor the cultivated or refined humanity, but a new and holy human nature, the humanity of Jesus.

Andrew Murray in his book, The Spirit of Christ, spoke of how Jesus perfected a new human nature which is not just human but also divine; it is humanity, yet it is something divine. For God’s building we need to be the most human of people, those who are Jesusly human.

We need to let the death of Jesus operate in us so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our body (2 Cor. 4:10-11). We need to have the highest human life, a life lived out according to the eternal life given to us by God (1 Tim. 6:12).

God gave us His divine life so that we may live Him out, but the expression of that living out of God is very human.

The Lord Jesus expressed God not in an extraordinary or super-human way but in a normal way, in His daily living; He denied His own humanity (which was perfect and sinless) and lived by the life of the Father.

For the testimony of Jesus we need the highest human life, a life lived out according to the divine life given to us by God. By the divine life we need to have a human life that reaches the highest standard. In our living we should be “Jesusly human.” We should aspire to have a glorious testimony of the Christ in whom we believe and whom we serve and honor. Then we shall be a shining, golden lampstand. This is our declaration concerning human living. Witness Lee, Life-study of Titus, p. 29

He brought His humanity through death, resurrection, and ascension, and He has perfected a new kind of humanity, the humanity of Jesus, a humanity in resurrection. This humanity is in our spirit, and as we live by the divine life, we live out the humanity of Jesus.

Our need is to be Jesusly human – not just human but human in a Jesus-way.

The apostles spoke of this repeatedly as they wrote their epistles. Paul wrote the second epistle to Timothy on the matter of the mystery of godliness – God manifested in the flesh; in this epistle he speaks of a lot of practical aspects of our humanity.

He spoke of how the elders, older men, younger women, masters, slaves, rich men, etc should be and behave in the church life.

In Titus 2:1-8 Paul speaks concerning an orderly human life and family life, which is the highest human life. It is only by living by the divine life that we can reach the highest standard and can be Jesusly human.

We all should aspire to have a glorious testimony of the Christ in whom we have believed and whom we serve and honor, so that we may be His shining, golden lampstand.

Thank You Lord for giving us the divine, eternal life of God. We want to live according to the eternal life in our spirit so that we may have the highest human life, a life just like the Lord Jesus. Save us, Lord, from trying to be “more human” or “more spiritual”; we want to be Jesusly human, human in a Jesus way, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in us for the corporate expression of God. We aspire to have a glorious testimony of the Christ in whom we believe and whom we serve and honor!

Being Trained by the Lord Jesus to be Jesusly Human living a Divinely Human Life

[The Lord's] training was to help the disciples realize that they were mingled with the Triune God, that they were no longer merely human but divinely human, even “Jesusly human.” They were no longer separate from the Triune God, but they could now live a life in which they were one with the processed Triune God. They were no longer merely men but God-men, divine men, with the Triune God as their intrinsic essence to become their divine being. Witness Lee, God's New Testament Economy, p. 184What does it mean to be Jesusly human? How does such a person live, behave, speak, and look like? It is helpful to look at the Lord Jesus and see the way He lived in the Gospels, but we may be discouraged when it comes to our living, thinking we can’t live the same way the Lord did.

After the Lord resurrected and before He ascended publicly to the Father, He stayed for forty days with His disciples to train them to live a divinely human life.

The number forty usually denotes a period of testing; the Lord Jesus tested and trained His disciples to live not only with His invisible presence (He was no longer physically with them all the time – but He was with them as the Spirit) but also to live one with the Triune God, who is now the Spirit with their spirit.

The Lord Jesus trained His disciples to know that He had become them – He entered into them and He brought them into Him. This kind of training was to help the disciples realize that they were not just men – they were men mingled with the Triune God, so they shouldn’t merely live in a human way, in a natural way, but in a divinely human way, even in a “Jesusly” human way.

The disciples were no longer men but God-men, divine men, men who had the Triune God as their intrinsic essence to become their divine being, and now they could live a life in which they were one with God.

As believers in Christ, we need to be discipled and trained by the Lord to realize that He entered into us and He brought us into Himself.

By believing into Christ, He entered into us, and we were brought into Him; now our being and living is not just in the human realm but also in the divine realm, for we are both human and divine.

We need to be discipled by the Lord to realize that we are mingled with the Triune God, and therefore we are no longer merely human but divinely human, even Jesusly human.

We need to be Jesusly human in our daily living, not living by our natural life as we used to be but living by the divine life in our spirit, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our body.

We need to be trained by the Lord to realize that we’re no longer merely men but God-men, divine men, men with the Triune God as our intrinsic essence to become our divine being (Eph. 3:14-17). Now we can live a life in which we are one with the processed and consummated Triune God (2 Cor. 13:14; 1 Cor. 6:17; 15:45b).

The Lord’s invisible presence is with us, and wherever we go we need to practice living in His presence and be persons living by the divine life to be Jesusly human.

We need to let the Lord train us to be divine persons on this earth, those who live in the divine and mystical realm – yet are Jesusly human for the corporate expression of God.

Lord Jesus, train us to know that You have entered into us and that we are in You, so we no longer are merely human but divinely human, even God-men! Hallelujah, we are mingled with the Triune God to be God-men, and our daily living should be no longer by the natural human life but by the divine life in our spirit. Thank You Lord for coming into us to be the intrinsic essence of our being, and now we can live a life in which we are one with the processed and consummated Triune God!

In Titus 2:1-8 Paul speaks concerning an orderly human life. In particular, he speaks of the family life. These eight verses give us the foundation of a proper human life in the divine life. We in the Lord’s recovery should live such a human life. Praise the Lord brother for this revelation. We have been shortchanged in all manner in Christianity for a long time. But today we can celebrate and partake the greatest miracle of salvation. It took the Lord six days to create the entire universe, but He spent 40 days to train His disciples to practice His presence, to live and behave in this life, and to be persons in this life. They had to be trained the presence of the Triune God was within them. This is wonderful and great news for us, that we can be divine persons on this earth.
