the significance of the birthright – enjoying a double portion of the good land(sharing from the Poland camp 2010)

September 2, 2010 by aGodMan 15 Comments

In the second message from the 2010 Poland camp, entitled The Significance Of The Birthright (1) – A Double Portion Of The Good Land, I enjoyed this statement,

The good land, the land of Canaan, is the ultimate type of the all-inclusive Christ as the inheritance allotted to God’s people for their enjoyment.

In Genesis 1, God created man to possess the earth. In Genesis 12, the God of Glory appeared to Abram. Due to the fall of the created race (Adam), the birthright was shifted to the called race (Abraham). God’s goal is now the good land(not physically, but spiritually).

This is the all-inclusive good land of Christ – Christ Himself as our all-inclusive extensive good land. God is not satisfied with us wandering around meaningless in the universe; He wants us to enjoy a double portion of the good land. We must also save people from bondage and bring them into this enjoyment.

There is a wonderful verse in the Bible, in 1 Chronicles 4:10, which says:

And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, Oh that You would richly bless me and enlarge my border, and that Your hand would be with me, and that You would so keep me from evil that it would not grieve me! And God caused what he had requested to come to pass.

The Lord wants us to ask Him to broaden our thirst for Him, and to increase our enjoyment of the good land. We need to say to Him, “Lord, increase my hunger for You, and enlarge my capacity!” When you get Christ, you get everything! We are not too young to enter into the good land – rather, even from a young age, we must gradually possess Christ as our good land.

Whatever we do, we can experience Him as the double portion, and we must anchor ourselves in this good land. It is so easy to just turn back to it! Do we want to appear before the Lord empty handed? As we enjoy and labor on Christ as the good land, then we will have something to bring to Him and to the meetings.

Many times, we have to fight our way into the good land, and we have to fight to stay in it. We should stand for the Lord wherever we are. Although we may be mocked and judged, we want to be those who possess the good land. Whatever we need is in Christ!

Our Christian life is a life of valleys and mountains, and we will experience ups and downs. But we just need to turn back into the good land! Christ knew what to do in every situation because He fed on the butter and honey (a clear indication that He was feasting on God as His good land). We will know what to do in every situation if we just feast on Him! We will have the richest grace and the sweetest love from the Lord.

“…that Your hand would be with me.” To throw off the Lord’s hand upon us is to cast away and lose the birthright. We should keep praying to the Lord that He would never remove His hand from us. He is the reality of the good land.

Actually, our enjoyment of Christ will results in the building up of the church as the kingdom of God. [guest post, enjoyment from the 2010 Poland camp by sister Grace]
