After seeing the significance and application of the ark of the testimony with its propitiation cover and the table of the bread of the presence, this week we are getting into the deeper significance of the golden lampstand.
In our crystallization-study of Exodus we want to see not only the types and meaning of these items of the furnishings in the tabernacle but their crystallized significance and application to our Christian experience so that we may have particular experiences of Christ for the building up of the church.
This week we will focus not merely on “the golden lampstand” but on the intrinsic significance of the golden lampstand, the subjective experience of the golden lampstand, and the organic maintenance of the golden lampstand for a new revival.
The golden lampstand was uniquely designed by God and is full of significance; it signifies not merely the people of Israel (as the still represent themselves with this sign) but much more. The lampstand shows us that God is our life, we are the living of God, God lives within us, and for us to live is God; this is the center of the New Testament.
The lampstand was designed by God to be a type of Himself as the Triune God – the Father is typified by the gold, the Son is typified by the form, the shape of the lampstand, and the Spirit is typified by the seven lamps as the expression of the lampstand.
Furthermore, the lampstand signifies the church as the expression of the Triune God shining with the Spirit as the light and having the form of Christ as the expression of God: great is the mystery of godliness, God is manifested in the flesh corporately in the church!
The golden lampstand has the function to bear light, but at the same time it was designed as a tree with calyxes, cups, blossoms, and buds, and the light is the “fruit” of this living, golden, resurrection tree to express the Triune God.
So when God gave Moses the design of the golden lampstand He actually gave him a design of Himself! Now the Triune God is in us to grow in us, and as we grow with the growth of God we have Christ branching, budding, and blossoming out in us and through us to shine out the divine life in our being. Hallelujah!
Seeing, Knowing, and Ministering Christ to Others to Enter into a New Revival
The golden lampstand shows us a clear picture of God and His economy, and we need to see the intrinsic significance of the golden lampstand, enter into the subjective experience of the golden lampstand, and have the organic maintenance of the golden lampstand to have a new revival.
This whole week we will develop and enter into the significance, experience, and maintenance of the golden lampstand so that the Lord would bring us into a new revival that will change this age and bring Him back.
In order to enter into a new revival, we need to see the supereminent Christ according to the highest peak of the divine revelation, know the all-inclusive Christ for a God-man living, and minister the unsearchably rich Christ to others in shepherding them for the building up of the Body of Christ to consummate the city of God, the wife of the Lamb (Phil. 3:8, 10; Eph. 3:8-11; Rev. 21:2, 9-10). Witness Lee
We need to see the super-eminent Christ according to the highest peak of the divine revelation, having the excellency of the knowledge of Christ and counting all other things loss on account of knowing Him and experiencing Him (Phil. 3:8, 10).
We need to know this all-inclusive Christ in order to have a God-man living, living a life by His resurrection power and being conformed to His death so that Christ would live in us and be expressed through us (Phil. 3:10).
We need to minister the unsearchably rich Christ we have enjoyed and experienced into others in shepherding them for the building up of the Body of Christ: this Christ is so rich, vast, all-inclusive, and wonderful, and we are commissioned to announce His unsearchable riches as the gospel and enlighten all that they may see God’s economy (Eph. 3:8-11).
The result of this seeing, knowing, living, and ministering of Christ is that the church is built up to be the Body of Christ in this age and consummate in the city of God in the next age (Rev. 21:2, 9-10). If we see Christ, know Christ, live Christ, and minister Christ, there will be a new revival; this revival is not what we hear of in today’s Christianity but the final revival that will change this age from the age of grace to the age of the kingdom, a revival which will make us the bride of Christ and will cause Christ to return.
In order to have this new revival, we need to arrive at the highest peak of the divine revelation (which is the intrinsic significance of the golden lampstand), live the life of a God-man (which is to have the subjective experience of the golden lampstand), and shepherd others according to God in Christ’s heavenly ministry which is in cooperation with the apostolic ministry (which is the organic maintenance of the golden lampstand in Christ’s heavenly ministry through His cherishing and nourishing of us). Wow, Hallelujah!
Lord Jesus, grant us to see the supereminent Christ according to the highest peak of the divine revelation! Lord, we want to know the all-inclusive Christ for a God-man living! We want to cooperate with You in Your heavenly ministry to shepherd others according to God for the building up of the Body of Christ to consummate the city of God, the wife of the Lamb! Lord Jesus, may a new and final revival be brought in as we strive to arrive at the highest peak of the divine revelation, live the life of a God-man, and shepherd others according to God!
The Golden Lampstand Signifies the Triune God and the Church as God’s Expression
The golden lampstand was designed by God Himself, and it is like nothing else on earth; it is not merely a lampstand on which fire is burning in order to shed light but it has six branches with seven lamps, it is made by beating of one lump, and it looks like a tree with cups, flowers, blossoms, and calyxes.
We need to have a spirit of wisdom and revelation to understand the intrinsic significance of the golden lampstand which was designed by God Himself and portrays the goal of His eternal economy (Eph. 1:17; Zech. 4:1-6; Rev. 1:2, 9-12)! The golden lampstand firstly signifies the Triune God:
+ Gold, the nature of the lampstand, represents the divine nature which does not change or decay. God the Father with His divine nature is signified by the gold in the golden lampstand.
+ The shape or form of the lampstand symbolizes Christ, the image of God. God is invisible, but Christ is His image, His expression, His definition and explanation (see 2 Cor. 4:4; Col. 1:15).
+ The seven lamps are a type of the Spirit, even the seven Spirits of God before His throne (Rev. 4:5). The lamps are the expression of the lampstand, and the Spirit expresses the Father embodied in the Son.
According to the highest peak of the divine revelation concerning the golden lampstand, the Father is signified by the gold, the Son is signified by the shape, and the Spirit is the expression, as the indicated by the seven lamps.
Furthermore, in Revelation we see that the golden lampstand signifies the church: today the church is the expression of God, expressing the Father in His divine nature, the Son in His God-man living, and shining out with the Spirit as the expression.
How can we, men of clay and dust with a sinful fallen nature, become a golden lampstand to express the Triune God? By regeneration we had our sins washed away by the Lord’s precious blood, and we received the divine life and nature of God the Father.
Now all believers in Christ have the element of God in them, and this element needs to grow and be formed in us (Gal. 4:19). We need to be transformed into the same image of Christ from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit (2 Cor. 3:18), until we fully express the Triune God.
Hallelujah, we have God’s life and nature in us, and we are being transformed into His image to express Him as the golden lampstand!
Father, grant us a spirit of wisdom and revelation to understand the intrinsic significance of the golden lampstand, which was designed by God Himself and portrays the goal of God’s economy! Lord, cause us to realize what we are and what You want us to be: You want us to be Your corporate expression as the golden lampstand! Lord, transform us into Your image and conform us to Your shape and form so that we may be in reality the golden lampstand expressing the Triune God in the universe!

- Hymns on this topic to strengthen this burden:
# O Father of glory, now grant unto me / A spirit of wisdom, a spirit to see; / O give unto me the full knowledge of Him, / Enlight’ning the eyes of my heart deep within. (Hymns #1133)
# There are seven golden lampstands in the nature all divine— / Nothing natural does the Body life allow. / When we’re one and share God’s nature, / how the lampstand then does shine— / Hallelujah, it is brightly shining now! (Hymns #1226)
# It’s by our mingled spirit, Lord, / That we can shine with Thee, / And be a golden lampstand now / For all the world to see. / It’s not by forms or rituals, / Mere Christianity; / It’s by our Christ enjoyed as life / We all can shine with Thee. (Hymns #1262)
Paul travailed for the Galatians “until Christ is formed in you” (Gal. 4:19). It was not enough for Christ to be revealed in them (1:16) or even to be living in them (2:20). The gold had to take shape.
Our need now is transformation. “We all…are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit” (2 Cor. 3:18). To be transformed into the Lord’s image is from the Lord Spirit. The final expression of the golden lampstand is the seven lamps, which are the seven Spirits of God. hallelujah praise the Lord Jesus Amen.
