Because sin is in our fallen human nature, after regeneration we still need to take Christ as our sin offering and as our trespass offering.
We cannot say that we have no sin, for sin is in our very nature, and the indwelling sin is with us until the day of our rapture or the day of our death (1 John 1:8). Also, we cannot say that we don’t sin, but as the Lord’s light shines on us in our walk with Him, we exercise to confess our sins, and He is faithful and righteous to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
We need to take Christ as our sin offering every day.
The sin offering signifies that Christ was made sin for us in order that through His death on the cross sin might be condemned. The more we realise our sinful condition and situation, the more we come to the Lord and take Him as our sin offering.
Christ, the only One person who walked this earth that was without sin, was made sin for us on the cross, so that we may be saved from sin and be identified with Him as our sin offering.
He came in the likeness of the flesh of sin yet without the sin in the flesh, and He offered himself as a sacrifice for our sins.
Christ came as God incarnated, the Word who became flesh, in the likeness of the flesh of sin, and when He was on the cross, God not only put all our sins on Him but He also made Him sin, judging sin, the world, the flesh, Satan, the old man, and the ruler of the world in Him. What an amazing fact!
All the negative things in the universe were dealt with by Christ as the sin offering as He died on the cross. Christ came as the reality of the bronze serpent which Moses lifted up in the wilderness. The bronze serpent didn’t have the poison of the serpent but only its likeness, and whoever looked at it lived.
Christ came in the likeness of the flesh of sin, and He was lifted up on the cross for us all to believe into Him, and whoever believes into the Lord shall be saved and have eternal life.
Praise the Lord, we can take Christ as our sin offering every day by believing into Him and laying our hands on Him to be identified with Him all the time. What a miracle that we, sinners who are born in sin and have the indwelling sin, can believe into the Lord, take Him as our sin offering, and become the righteousness of God in Him. Hallelujah!
He who knew no sin was made sin so that we may take Christ as our sin offering and be made God’s righteousness in Him and have eternal life!
We need to take Christ as our Sin Offering by Laying our Hands on Him to be Identified with Him
When someone in God’s people would sin or when they were made aware of their sin, they had to bring a sin offering and lay their hands on the head of the offering (Lev. 4:3-4). The laying on of hands signifies identification with the offering.
Christ died on the cross and became our sin offering, and now we need to lay our hands on Him and be identified with Him as our sin offering. Even after our regeneration, we still need to take Christ as our sin offering, for we still have the indwelling sin in us.
Actually, even more now that we are being made aware of our sin daily, we need to take Christ as our sin offering. As we pray and lay our hands on Him to be identified with Him as our sin offering, all our sins and problems are being given to Him, and all that He is and has accomplished is being dispensed into us.
Christ as the sin offering has taken care of our sin, the indwelling sin in our nature (see Rom. 7:17; Lev. 4; Isa. 53:10; Rom. 8:3; 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 9:26). Our sins, our trespasses, have been taken care of by Christ as our trespass offering (Lev. 5; Isa. 53:11; 1 Cor. 15:3; 1 Pet. 2:24; Heb. 9:28).
We need to realise that, after our regeneration, we still need to take Christ as our sin offering as indicated in 1 John 1:8 (we cannot say we have no sin in our nature) and as our trespass offering as indicated in verse 9 (we daily commit sins, and we need Him as our trespass offering).
Every day we need to lay our hands on the Lord’s head through prayer to be identified with Him as the sin offering, and we should remain in this identification with Him all day long.
We need to take Christ as the sin offering every day and even every moment. For this, we need to exercise our spirit not only in a loud way to be released but in a deep way through prayer to lay our hands on Christ and be identified with Him.
This requires us to exercise our spirit through proper prayer so that we may be one with Christ in an experiential way, and the Spirit will apply to us the reality of Christ as the sin offering.
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, He bore up our sins on His body on the tree, He offered Himself once for all to bear the sins of many, and He bore our iniquities.
He made Himself an offering for sin, He was even made sin for us to condemn sin in the flesh and to make us the righteousness of God in Him, and He was manifested for the putting away of sin.
Christ is qualified to be our sin offering, and we as believers in Christ who still have the indwelling sin in us need to take Christ as our sin offering by exercising our spirit through proper prayer to be identified with Christ.
Lord Jesus, we take You as our sin offering. We lay our hands on You and we are identified with You through faith. Lord, You died not only for our sins but also for the putting away of sin. We admit that we are sinful and that the indwelling sin still works in us. Lord, we need You as our sin offering. We exercise our spirit to be one with You, and in You our sin is judged and put away. Keep us identified with You today to live in oneness with You. Keep us experiencing You as the reality of the sin offering.
Learning to Take Christ as our Sin Offering and Enjoy the Efficacy of the Sin Offering
When Christ died on the cross as the sin offering many wonderful things happened: sin was condemned, the old man was dealt with, Satan as sin was destroyed, the world was judged, and the ruler of the world was cast out.
We need to learn to take Christ as our sin offering day by day and enjoy the efficacy of the sin offering in our experience.
Taking Christ as our sin offering means that sin in the nature of fallen man is condemned (Rom. 8:3), that our old man is dealt with (6:6), that Satan as sin itself is destroyed (Heb. 2:14), that the world is judged, and that the ruler of the world is cast out (John 12:31).
All these are accomplished facts – Christ accomplished them on the cross, and now by faith we exercise to believe and stand on all these accomplished facts. Jesus did it all!
Right now we still have our flesh, the totality of our fallen human nature which is one with Satan and in which Satan dwells; the flesh is altogether one with sin (Rom. 8:3), and sin is altogether one with Satan.
Satan is one with the world, and the world is one with the prince of this world. All these five things are together and are even one: the flesh, sin, Satan, the world, and the prince / the authority of the world.
What we see today in the world is this struggle for power: men struggle for power in society, believers struggle for power in the church, and even in the family life people struggle for power. In every nation and even in every person there’s a struggling for power; everywhere there’s competition, rivalry, and struggle for power.
This struggle for power is the result and issue for the flesh, sin, Satan, the world, and the prince of the world. The word ruler in the ruler of this world implies authority or power and the struggle for power (Luke 4:5-8; cf. Matt. 20:20-21, 24; 3 John 9).
Sin involves a power struggle – in us there’s a struggle of who is on top, who wins; when we want to do the good according to the law of God, evil is present, overpowers us, and causes us not to do the good that we want.
The law of sin is a spontaneous power, strength, and energy to struggle with God and do things against God’s will and law (Rom. 7:23; 8:2).
We were born in sin to be children of the devil, his subjects, and there’s a power struggle in our being; to sin is to have a power struggle with God, to exert energy to struggle with God, disobey Him, and do something else.
This is to miss the mark, to be in error. In our members there is a law, the law of sin and death, which operates in us to fight the law of good in our mind, and this law always defeats and captures us, bringing us into death when we try to fight it.
But praise the Lord, when we turn to our spirit we find another law, the law of the Spirit of life, which operates automatically to defeat the law of sin and of death!
When we turn to our spirit and take Christ as our sin offering, sin in our fallen nature is condemned, our old man is dealt with, Satan is destroyed, and the world is judged! The efficacy of the sin offering is great and far-reaching, and we simply need to exercise our spirit to take Christ as our sin offering day by day!
Lord Jesus, we exercise our spirit to take You as our sin offering so that the sin in our nature would be condemned, our old man would be dealt with, Satan would be destroyed, the world would be judged, and the ruler of the world would be cast out! Hallelujah, Christ as our sin offering deals with all the negative things in the universe and in our being, and we can exercise our spirit and take Him as our sin offering! Lord, may we learn to take You as our sin offering day by day and enjoy the efficacy of the sin offering daily!

Amen…hallelujah…Christ is our sin offering deals with all the negative things in the universe and in our being.
Just by laying our hands on Christ and taking Him as our sin offering all these facts become our reality!
Thank You Lord Jesus for being our sin offering! We lay our Hands on You this morning and take You as our sin offering.
The sin offering also signifies that God, sending His own Son in the likeness of the flesh of sin and concerning sin, condemned sin in the flesh on the cross of Christ (Rom. 8:3). Christ became flesh; that is, He came in the likeness of the flesh of sin (John 1:14). Furthermore, God made Christ, who did not know sin, sin on our behalf on the cross (2 Cor. 5:21). While Christ was on the cross, He was judged in the form of the serpent for our sin (John 3:14). In this way God condemned sin in the flesh on the cross of Christ.
The efficacy of the sin offering is not just in the fact that it deals with sin. The result is far greater. In the sin offering, the fallen man, the old man, included in the flesh of Christ, is dealt with (Rom. 6:6); sin in the nature of fallen man is condemned (Rom. 8:3); Satan, sin itself, is destroyed (Heb. 2:14); the world is judged; and the prince of the world is cast out (John 12:31). This is the revelation in the holy Word concerning the efficacy of the sin offering.
In dealing with sin, Paul was eventually brought to something deeper—not merely to sin itself but to the law of sin (Rom. 7:25; 8:2),…[which] is simply the spontaneous power, strength, and energy to struggle with God….Whenever we have even a little thought of being for God, something within us rises up to take us over. This is the law of sin….This made Paul a wretched man (Rom. 7:24). This is the law of sin as the deeper meaning of sin.
We should not take Christ as our sin offering in a superficial way. Rather, we should take Him as our sin offering to a deeper extent. This will remake our entire being. (Life-study of Leviticus, pp. 172-174, 181-182, by Witness Lee)
