In the Lord’s recovery today we need to pay our full attention to the mingled spirit, the Spirit mingled with our spirit, and we should live, act, and have our being in the spirit so that we can truly reign in life and build up the church as the Body of Christ consummating in the New Jerusalem. Amen!
We need the Lord’s particular mercy that He would shine on us, especially as we aspire to serve the Lord, that we would serve Him not according to and in our natural ability and strength but in the resurrected ability.
As believers in Christ and saints in the church life, we need the Lord’s mercy and His shining. He needs to shine on us and expose, rebuke, and convict us; we need His light that slays the natural man and judges it.
As He shines on us, as we are under His speaking and shining, we simply need to agree with the light and say Amen to His speaking.
The Lord cannot accept anything of the natural man, no matter how much it tries to please God.
He simply does not appreciate but rather hates anything that comes of the efforts of the flesh to please God and out of the natural man with its natural strength and ability.
When we have the Lord’s true light, His shining, and when we open to HIm and do not close our being in any way, the Lord will have a way to expose us and even purge the natural man with its natural strength and ability.
May the Lord shine upon us and also shine within us. May He touch us as only He can do, and may He expose our natural being.
It is His mercy that we can be under His light, and it is His grace that we can turn our hearts to Him and say Amen to His speaking.
What a mercy it is for us to have the Lord’s shining and see our natural man, our natural being, our natural disposition, our natural ability, our natural wisdom, our natural enthusiasm, our natural fervour, and our natural endeavour to please God.
Everything that is natural in us needs to be exposed, and we need to confess it before the Lord as He shines on us.
It is such a mercy for us to have the Lord’s shining on our natural being and for us to simply agree with the light and confess before the Lord!
As we confess the things that the Lord’s light exposes, He applies the cross and puts to death our natural man, and we deal with them in the Lord’s light.
If we don’t deal with the natural man and the natural ability, however, our work for the Lord and our service to Him in the church life will mar the Lord’s recovery and damage the church life.
In the case of Solomon, the kingdom of God was affected, for he led the children of Israel into idolatry, and he himself indulged in the lusts of the flesh with no restriction.
May we be with the Lord in an intimate way and speak to Him honestly, allowing Him to speak to us in a straightforward way.
May our ears be open to the Lord and our inner being be attuned to His word so that He may shine, expose, judge, and purge anything of the natural being with its ability.
As He shines and exposes, we agree with His light and we choose to live, walk and have our being in and according to the mingled spirit so that we may reign in life.
Christ became a Life-giving Spirit and Mingled Himself with our Spirit to be Everything to us
Our Christian life is fully wrapped up with God and in particular, with Christ; this Christ is the life-giving Spirit.
As believers in Christ, we are those who not only accepted the Lord as their Savior but even more, received Christ as life into them.
By opening to the Lord and receiving Him into us, the Spirit came into our spirit to mingle Himself with us.
In resurrection Christ became the life-giving Spirit as the consummation of the Triune God (1 Cor. 15:45).
Through the incarnation, God became a man, and through death and resurrection, this One became a life-giving Spirit.
When we open to receive the Lord under the hearing of faith, the all-inclusive Spirit enters into our spirit and mingles with our regenerated spirit.
A wonderful, mystical, mysterious union takes place when we believe into the Lord; whether we feel it or not, whether we know it or not, when we call on the name of the Lord, He as the Spirit mingles Himself with our spirit. Hallelujah!
Now we believers in Christ are mingled with God, for in spirit we are mingled with the divine Spirit. God and man, man and God, become one in the mingled spirit, and the two spirits are mingled together as one entity (1 Cor. 6:17; Rom. 8:16).
This mingled spirit is the key to our Christian life; this is the place we can flee to.
The only safe place in the whole universe for us to be in is our mingled spirit. the only safe place for us to flee to so that we do not live or remain in the natural man is the spirit that is mingled with the divine Spirit.
The old creation is everywhere, being very prevailing and obvious; but we believers in Christ can run to the high tower of our mingled spirit.
We need to run to the high tower of our spirit and take refuge there.
This may sound “spiritual” and “lofty” but it is very practical and applicable; we can simply call on the name of the Lord and exercise our spirit to contact the Lord.
Today God the Spirit is the all-inclusive Spirit, the compound Spirit, the anointing Spirit, the revealing Spirit, and the consummated Spirit as the consummation of the processed Triune God to be the bountiful supply for our daily life (Phil. 1:19; Exo. 30:22-25; 1 John 2:27; 1 Cor. 2:10; Rev. 22:17a).
The Triune God went through a process to become this bountiful, all-inclusive, compound Spirit to be our rich supply and enjoyment in our daily life.
Yes, by disposition we are in a certain way and yes, our natural being has certain natural abilities and strengths, and it seems that in ourselves we can’t overcome them.
But when we turn to our spirit, when we live in the spirit, and when we walk according to the spirit, the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ strengthens us to live Christ and magnify Christ, and others see Christ in us.
May we learn to spend time in our mingled spirit.
We shouldn’t focus so much on our natural man, our natural ability, and dealing with the natural man; we should rather turn to our spirit, choose to be in spirit, and remain in the realm of our mingled spirit.
On one hand, He has come into us to be the all-inclusive, bountiful Spirit with a rich supply for us to enjoy and live by.
On the other hand, He is the anointing oil that anoints us and leads us to know the Lord and do His will (1 John 2:20, 27).
He has been compounded with the Spirit, the death of Christ, the effectiveness of Christ’s death, Christ’s resurrection, and the power of Christ’s resurrection.
Now He comes to us wherever we are and He anoints us, He adds Himself to us, and He subjectively leads us by infusing us with what He is to reconstitute us with Himself in all things.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for becoming the life-giving Spirit as the consummation of the Triune God to come into us and mingle Yourself with our spirit! Hallelujah, we are now one spirit with the Lord, for He came into us as the Spirit and mingled Himself with us! Amen, Lord, keep us in our spirit today. Keep us in the high tower of our spirit where the bountiful supply of the Spirit is! Amen, Lord, we want to enjoy and experience You as the all-inclusive Spirit, the compound Spirit, the anointing Spirit, the revealing Spirit, and the consummated Spirit as the consummation of the processed Triune God! Hallelujah for our mingled spirit!
Pay Full Attention to the Mingled Spirit and Live, Walk, and have your being In and According to the Spirit to Reign in Life for the Body of Christ
After seeing the history of Solomon and how he failed to enjoy the good land to the uttermost even though he had a God-given gift of wisdom, we need to pay our full attention to the mingled spirit.
The all-inclusive Christ as the reality of the good land is in our mingled spirit, and for us to serve the Lord and please Him, we need to live in spirit, walk in the spirit, and have our being in and according to the spirit.
On the one hand, Christ today is in the heavens as the heavenly High Priest (Heb. 4:14), a Minister in the heavens (8:1-2), the Mediator of a new covenant (9:15), and the Executor of the new testament (9:16-17).
On the other hand, He is in our mingled spirit as the Spirit, and He joins us to heaven so that we may enjoy Him as the heavenly supply and live a heavenly life on earth.
The way for us to follow Christ is to remain in our spirit, live in the spirit, walk in the spirit, and have our being in the mingled spirit.
When we do this, when we pay our full attention to our mingled spirit and live in the spirit, we will spontaneously live Christ, magnify Christ, and be one with Christ (Phil. 1:20-21).
The issue of such a life, the result of living in the mingled spirit, is the Body of Christ, the church.
May we pay our full attention to our mingled spirit.
May we look away from our flesh, our self, and our natural man with its natural ability, and may we look unto Jesus, the One who is mingled with us as the Spirit in our spirit.
The teaching of the Bible urges us and inspires us not to try to perfect ourselves to please God but to live in spirit, walk in the spirit, and do everything according to the spirit (Rom. 8:14).
It is when we live according to the spirit that we no longer fulfil the lusts of the flesh.
In the way we style our hair, the way we speak to our spouse, and the way we deal with our children and with our neighbours, in all things we need to be according to the spirit.
When we visit others for the preaching of the gospel, we shouldn’t contact them according to the flesh or in our natural ability but according to the mingled spirit.
When we meet with the saints, as we sing, pray, praise, and prophesy, we need to do all things in spirit and according to the spirit.
In the Lord’s recovery today, we should pay our full attention to the mingled spirit and live, walk, and have our being in and according to this mingled spirit.
We should pay attention to the Spirit mingled with our spirit; we need to live according to the mingled spirit so that we may truly reign in life (Rom. 8:4; 5:10, 17).
This mingled spirit is the beginning of the Body of Christ and will consummate in the New Jerusalem (Eph. 1:17; 2:22; 3:5, 16; 4:23; 5:18; 6:18; Rev. 21:10).
On one hand, we need to reject the natural life and the natural ability.
We need to simply repudiate it, reject it, and refuse to live by that life and exercise that natural ability, but live by the divine life.
To do this, we need to experience the cross of Christ to die to ourselves and to the natural man, and we need to be conformed to the death of Christ by the power of His resurrection.
Everything that is natural needs to be put to death in this way.
On the other hand, we need to endeavour to live in the mingled spirit and live by the divine life.
We have been crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20), and it is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us.
We need to live by this Christ, co-live with Christ, so that we would live, serve, work, bear responsibility, do all things and have our being in the mingled spirit.
We should no longer do things in our natural man but in the new man, in the mingled spirit. No longer do things in the natural ability but in the resurrected ability.
Lord Jesus, we want to pay full attention to our mingled spirit, the Spirit mingled with our spirit. Amen, Lord, we want to live, walk, and have our being in and according to the mingled spirit. We turn to You today, dear Lord; we want to live in spirit and do all things in the mingled spirit. Amen, we want to be those who truly reign in life by living in the mingled spirit and receiving the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness. Keep us in our spirit today so that we may do all things through the cross and by the Spirit so that we may build up the church as the Body of Christ consummating in the New Jerusalem!

- Hymns on this topic:
– If we die we’ll live with Christ, / If we suffer we shall reign; / Only thus the prize of glory / Can the conqueror attain. / Oh, how sweet, on that glad morning / Should the Master say to thee, / “Yes, my child, thou didst go with me / All the way to Calvary.” (Hymns #481, stanza 3)
– O Lord, Thou art the Spirit now / That gives us life and quickens us, / With all Thy riches strengthening, / O how divine and glorious! … / Lord, teach me how to exercise / My spirit now to contact Thee, / That in Thy Spirit I may walk / And live by Thy reality. (Hymns #493, stanzas 1 and 5)
– I am crucified with Jesus, / And He lives and dwells with me; / I have ceased from all my struggling, / ’Tis no longer I, but He. / All my will is yielding to Him, / And His Spirit reigns within; / And His precious blood each moment / Keeps me cleansed and free from sin. (Hymns #564, stanza 2)
The Spirit was there in eternity and is mentioned in Genesis 1:2, but in John 7:39 this Spirit had not been consummated because Jesus had not yet been glorified. Through the processes of death and resurrection Christ was glorified (Luke 24:26) and became the lifegiving Spirit. Second, 1 Corinthians 15:45b says, “The last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.” This divine, all-inclusive Spirit enters into our spirit and mingles with our regenerated spirit, causing God and man, man and God, to become one in the mingled spirit. Third, 2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “The Lord is the Spirit.”… The Lord here is the crucified and resurrected Christ, who in His resurrection became the Spirit. As we behold Him, we are transformed into His image by the Lord Spirit (v. 18). Fourth, the book of Revelation speaks of the “seven Spirits” (1:4; 3:1; 4:5; 5:6). The life-giving Spirit, who is the pneumatic Christ, the consummation of the Triune God, is intensified to be the seven Spirits. Fifth, Exodus 30:23-25 speaks of the holy anointing oil, composed of olive oil, signifying the Spirit of God, compounded with four spices: myrrh, cinnamon, calamus, and cassia, signifying respectively the death of Christ, the effectiveness of Christ’s death, Christ’s resurrection, and the power of Christ’s resurrection. The anointing oil signifies the compound anointing Spirit (1 John 2:20, 27). Life-study of 1 & 2 Kings, p. 129
The Spirit of God was there from the beginning (Gen. 1:1-2), but at the time the Lord spoke this word, the Spirit as the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9), the Spirit of Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:19), was not yet, because the Lord had not yet been glorified. Jesus was glorified when He was resurrected (Luke 24:26). After Jesus’ resurrection, the Spirit of God became the Spirit of the incarnated, crucified, and resurrected Jesus Christ, who was breathed into the disciples by Christ in the evening of the day on which He was resurrected (John 20:22). The Spirit is now the “another Comforter,” the Spirit of reality promised by Christ before His death (John 14:16-17). When the Spirit was the Spirit of God, He had only the divine element. After He became the Spirit of Jesus Christ through Christ’s incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection, the Spirit had both the divine element and the human element, with all the essence and reality of the incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection of Christ. Hence, the Spirit is now the all-inclusive Spirit of Jesus Christ as the living water for us to receive (vv. 38-39). John 7:39, footnote 1, Recovery Version Bible
