It’s Not Good for God to be Alone: Victorious Christ is Matched by Victorious Church

For I am jealous over you with a jealousy of God; for I betrothed you to one husband to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. 2 Cor. 11:2

God has a heart’s desire to obtain both Christ and the church, the reality of Adam and Eve; it is not good for God to be alone – He needs a counterpart, the church, for He desires to have the victorious Christ plus a victorious church, and nothing but what comes out of Christ can be part of the church to make the church His counterpart.

In Genesis 1-2 we see the blueprint of God’s architectural plan, and in Revelation 21-22 we see a photograph of the fulfilment of God’s plan. In between, we see how God carries out His plan.

God desires to gain a people who love Him and are His counterpart. He didn’t create man merely to fellowship with man; He wants to enter into man as life and obtain a corporate man built up and prepared to be His counterpart, His bride.

This is what we see both at the beginning and at the end of the Bible. The Bible begins and ends with a couple; in the beginning, we see Adam and Eve and at the end we see the Spirit and the bride.

Even though man fell, God came to redeem man and court man, bringing man back to Himself.

We are those who have seen something of the wonderful Christ who expresses God, and we have been captured by Him. We now love Him, we open to Him, and we want to be one with Him.

We take the most excellent way today, the way of love, to do anything and be anything in the church. We love to come to the Lord in His word to open to Him, enjoy Him, and be infused with Him.

Actually, we love God because He first loved us. He loved us, He gave Himself up for us, and we simply opened to Him to have the love of God poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

Now we as believers in Christ simply love the Lord, open to Him, and allow Him to love us; we enjoy His love, and we are even filled with His love. We allow His love to flow in us and flow out of us.

The life we received from the Lord in our spirit at the time of our regeneration is a life of love; we learn to live by this life so that we may love the Lord and also love the brothers.

Just as God is love, so we are becoming love to become the same as He is in life, nature, expression, and function.

We put aside our natural love, allowing it to go through the cross, and we enjoy God as love, even allowing God as love to flow in us and be expressed through us.

Even as the Lord lived in this world, so we live today; we allow Him to flow in us and through us as love, loving the Lord and loving the brothers with Him as our love.

It is Not Good for God to be Alone: God is Perfect yet He Needs the Church as His Counterpart

...the likeness of Adam...who is a type of Him who was to come. Rom. 5:14 He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom... John 3:29

We need to see what God did do in order to produce a counterpart for Himself.

If we want to know who the bride of Christ and how we can be the bride of Christ, we need to read Genesis 1 and 2 with the exercise of our spirit and with our heart turned to the Lord so that we may see what God did to produce a counterpart for Himself.

Genesis 2 reveals a picture of Christ and His bride in the types of Adam and Eve. We need to see what the blueprint is for the church as the bride of Christ.

Adam typifies God in Christ as the real, universal Husband, who is seeking a wife for Himself (Rom. 5:14; cf. John 3:29; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 5:31-32; Rev. 19:7-9; 21:9-11).

Jehovah God created man and all the things on the earth and in heaven, but then He looked at man and said, It is not good for man to be alone; I will make him a helper as his counterpart (Gen. 2:18).

Man was perfect, but he was not complete. He was created in the image of God, so he represents God; this shows us that God is perfect, but He needs a counterpart.

When God said, It is not good for man to be alone, He was implying that it was not good for God to be alone. Adam’s need for a wife typifies and portrays God’s need, in His economy to have a wife as His counterpart.

God needs the church as His counterpart, His parallel. Although God in Christ is absolutely perfect, He is not complete without the church as His wife. Wow!

This is not a blasphemy; this is what the Bible really tells us. Adam is a type of Christ; when God said that it was not good for Adam to be alone, He said something about Himself, that it was not good for God to be alone.

We see this in Matthew 16 where the Lord Jesus took His disciples aside and asked them, Who do men say that I am? Then He asked them, What about you, who do you say that I am?

After Peter said that He is the Christ, the Son of the living God, the Lord Jesus said, But I also say to you that I will build My church (Matt. 16:18).

Where the revelation of Christ is, there is the revelation of the church. It is good to see Christ but we also need to see the church as the counterpart of Christ.

Christ adds to the revelation of Himself – He wants us to see the church, His counterpart, His bride.

Do we have a revelation of Christ? Do we see that He is both the Son of God and the Son of Man? This is wonderful! Now we also need to see the church, the counterpart of Christ.

For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh. This mystery is great, but I speak with regard to Christ and the church. Eph. 5:31-32What God desires is not only Christ but also the church. If we see this, we will rejoice before the Lord, for we are the church, the counterpart of Christ, and the Lord is working on us to make us the same as Christ in every possible way to match Him! Hallelujah!

It is not good for man to be alone; a young man may be perfect, but he is not complete until he marries his wife, who is his counterpart.

It is not good for God to be alone; God is perfect, but He needs the church as His counterpart to match Him and be one with Him.

God is absolutely and eternally perfect; however, in the Bible, we see that God is not complete. To say that God is not perfect is to speak a blasphemy, for He is eternally perfect.

But without the church, God is incomplete. Without the church, God is like a husband without a wife or the head without the body.

May the Lord shine on us and enlighten us in this matter so that we have a proper appreciation of who we are and what the church is in God’s economy!

May we realise that we are part of the church, the counterpart of Christ, and God desires for the church to match Christ as His wife, His bride!

Lord Jesus, shine on us to see what You are doing to carry out the blueprint of Your architectural plan as revealed in the Bible. May we see that God desires to gain a wife for Christ, a counterpart for Christ. Hallelujah, man was created in the image of God to be part of the counterpart of Christ! Amen, Lord, may we see that, just as it was not good for Adam to be alone, so it is not good for God to be alone! Hallelujah, our God is eternally and absolutely perfect, but He is not complete without the church! Wow, Lord, may we realise that God’s desire and heart’s intent is to obtain the church as the counterpart of Christ to match Christ. Amen, Lord, may we see a vision not only of Christ as the Son of the living God but also of the church as the counterpart of Christ! What a privilege it is to be part of the church today, being produced and built up to be the counterpart of Christ, the bride of Christ! Amen, Lord, we give ourselves to You today for Your building work. Make us Your counterpart!

God Desires to have both Adam and Eve – a Victorious Christ plus a Victorious Church

And Jehovah God said, It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper as his counterpart. Gen. 2:18

According to Genesis 2:18, God desires to have not just Adam but both Adam and Eve, as types of Christ and the church. God’s purpose is to have both Adam, typifying Christ, and Eve, typifying the church.

This was His heart’s desire from before the creation of man, for in Genesis 1:26 He didn’t say, Let him have dominion, but, Let them have dominion.

God desires them, both Adam and Eve, both Christ and the church; this is what satisfies God’s heart. Them, this is such a wonderful word, for this is what God desires.

God is almighty and powerful, and He created both Satan and later man; He could deal with Satan by Himself, but He wants “them” to deal with Satan, that is, Adam and Eve (and all men included in them) as a type of a victorious Christ and a victorious church.

...much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Rom. 5:17 Now the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. Rom. 16:20What God wants is a Christ who has overcome the work of the devil plus a church which has overthrown the work of the devil (Rom. 5:17; 16:20; Eph. 1:22-23).

On the one hand, Christ came to destroy the devil and his works; on the other hand, the church continues Christ’s victorious work and applies it to the enemy to be a victorious church.

This is why in Romans 16:20 we are told that the God of peace will crush Satan under our feet shortly. God’s purpose is to have a ruling Christ and a ruling church; this is what satisfies God.

He planned this for His own pleasure and He is gaining this for His own satisfaction. God desires to have Christ, and He is fully delighted in His Beloved Son; however, He also wants to gain the church as the counterpart of Christ.

The church God desires needs to be just like Christ, matching Him in every possible way; the church comes out of Christ, comes to Christ, matches Christ, and is the same as Christ but in a feminine form. Hallelujah!

God still allows the devil on the earth because He knows that a victorious Christ and a victorious church are here to deal with him.

Christ and the church have dominion over Satan and his kingdom, for the purpose of God is Christ and the church, His counterpart, would deal with Satan. Hallelujah!

Today we are the church, and we need to become the same as Christ in life, nature, expression, and function, in order to match Him in every possible way, and we will deal with the enemy with Christ’s authority.

Genesis 2:19-20 further tells us that from the ground God formed every animal of the field and every bird of heaven and brought them to Adam.

The man then gave names to all cattle and to the birds of heaven and to every animal of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper as his counterpart. God wants to gain a counterpart for Adam, but nothing created by Him can match him.

We may think that this story is so interesting, for man is so smart to name all the animals as they come to him.

But what God was doing is showing Adam that no animal can match him; no helper was found for man as his counterpart among the created animals and birds.

Even the dog, which today may be called man’s best friend, is not a counterpart for man. Why? Because the wife must be the same as the husband in life, nature, and expression! Amen!

This is why, among the cattle, the birds, and the animals, Adam did not find a complement for himself, one that could match him.

The church that Christ needs to match Him is nothing of the natural life or the created life; it is something that matches Christ, something that is just like Christ in life and nature, even in His image.

Now Jehovah God had formed from the ground every animal of the field and every bird of heaven. And He brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called any living animal, that was its name. And the man gave names to all cattle and to the birds of heaven and to every animal of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper as his counterpart. Gen. 2:19-20If there’s something in us that is not of Christ, if we say something or do something that does not match Him, Christ may say, That is like a horse or a peacock, but it does not match Me.

We may speak something for the Lord, but at the end of it we have the Lord’s feeling within, That was you expressing your knowledge of God; that was a peacock, not something of Christ. Oh Lord!

Sometimes we may say something in a strong way, and the Lord within us says, That was like a horse or an elephant, very strong; that was not something of Christ.

We believers in Christ need to live one spirit with the Lord and allow Him to infuse us with Himself so that we may become the same as He is.

Only what comes out of Christ and what is Christ in us can match Him as His counterpart. Only what Christ has wrought into our being and has constituted of Himself into us can match Him as His counterpart.

May we allow the Lord to operate in us and reconstitute us with Himself to make us a victorious church matching a victorious Christ!

Lord Jesus, thank You for regenerating us with the life of God to make us part of the church as the counterpart of Christ! Hallelujah, God desires both Adam and Eve to fulfil His purpose; He desires both a victorious Christ and a victorious church that matches Him! Amen, Lord, we praise You for being a Christ who has overcome the work of the devil; make us one with You to overthrow the work of the devil and therefore match You! Work Yourself into us. Reconstitute us with Yourself. Save us from living in ourselves and for ourselves. Save us from expressing ourselves. May we live by the divine life and may we allow the divine life to be expressed through us so that we may be the church as the counterpart of Christ! Amen, Lord, we want to match You as Your counterpart. Bring our whole being into You and infuse us with all that You are to make us the same as You are in every possible way! Hallelujah, the God of peace will crush the devil under the feet of the built-up church shortly! Praise the Lord for Christ and the church fulfilling God’s desire!

God desired to have both Adam and Eve [cf. Gen. 2:18]. His purpose is to have a victorious Christ plus a victorious church, a Christ who has overcome the work of the devil plus a church which has overthrown the work of the devil. His purpose is to have a ruling Christ and a ruling church. This is what God planned for His own pleasure, and He has performed it for His own satisfaction…God desired to have Christ, and God also desired to have a church which is exactly like Christ. God not only desired that Christ would have dominion; He also wants the church to have dominion. God allows the devil on earth because He said, “Let them,” Christ and the church, “have dominion” [1:26]. God purposed that the church, as Christ’s counterpart, should take part in dealing with Satan. If the church does not match Christ, God’s purpose will not be fulfilled. In warfare Christ needs a help meet, and even in glory He also needs a help meet. God requires the church to be the same as Christ in every respect. It is God’s desire that Christ should have a help meet.

Man is a type of God, the real, universal Husband. Before God had secured the proper man, He was alone. It was not good for God to be alone. Although God is absolutely and eternally perfect, He is not complete. To say that God is imperfect is to speak blasphemy. Our God is eternally perfect. Nevertheless, without the church He is incomplete. Without the church He is like a husband without a wife or like a head without a body. Therefore, when God said that it was not good for Adam to be alone, it meant that God Himself was incomplete and that it was not good for Him to be alone. Adam’s need for a wife typifies and portrays God’s need to have a complement. If we see this, every aspect of Genesis 2 will be clear.

When God said that it was not good for man to be alone he also referred to Himself, it was not good for God to be alone, He needs the church as His counterpart!

God desires to obtain a victorious Christ matched by a victorious church as His counterpart.

And only what comes out of Christ can match Him to be the church, His bride.

Lord Jesus, we love You. Thank You for making us part of the church. May we live one spirit with You today to be part of Your counterpart, Your bride!

Amen brother. God desires a Victorious Christ plus a victorious church.

He wants the church to be like Christ in every respect because His intention is that Christ would overcome the devil’s work and the church will overthrow the devil’s evil works.

The church is to be the great mountain that fills the entire Earth and scatters all the devil’s work like chaff.

Neither Christ nor we as the church are complete without one another.

Amen Lord Jesus, may we live one spirit with Yiu as Your counterpart.

It is not right for man to be alone as we can never be complete. In the same way God requires a counterpart.

He requires Christ and the Church to be like Christ in every aspect!

The blueprint of the building of the bride is seen in the typology of Adam as Christ and Eve as the church for God to have a counterpart – where victorious Christ who has overcome the work of the devil + the church that has overthrown the devil’s work represents God’s intention – “let them have dominion” (Gen. 1:26).

As the wife, we need to be the same as the husband Christ in life, in nature, and expression to compliment and match Him.

May we daily open to God in fellowship in spirit to infuse us with His desire and purpose.

Lord, constitute us with Your overcoming and victorious life to defeat the works of the adversary in our living! Have your way to be expressed thru us! In all our circumstances, may “Thy will be done!” Amen, make us, Lord, your matching bride!

Alright meet? “help meet” comes from the old English rendering of Genesis 2:18 (“an help meet for him”), where meet means “suitable, fitting, corresponding.”

As God desired for Adam to have a helper, a counterpart to match him because it was not good for him to be alone, so also Christ (whom Adam typified) needs the church as His counterpart.

God is eternally perfect but without church as His counterpart, He is incomplete.

He desires a victorious Christ and a victorious church to have dominion, to deal with Satan and be glorified!

Lord, You need us to match You in our life and living today to fulfill Your economy!

Adam’s need for a wife typifies and portrays God’s need, in His economy, to have a wife as His counterpart, His complement.

The third step of God’s procedure in fulfilling His purpose was to work Himself into man to make man His complement. Adam here typifies God in Christ as the real, universal Husband, who is seeking a wife for Himself (Rom. 5:14; cf. Isa. 54:5; John 3:29; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 5:31-32; Rev. 19:7; 21:9). Adam’s need for a wife typifies and portrays God’s need, in His economy, to have a wife as His complement. Gen. 2:18 footnote 1 on, man to be alone.

The wife must be the same as the husband in life, nature, and expression. Among the cattle, the birds, and the animals Adam did not find a complement for himself, one that could match him. Gen. 2:20 footnote 1 not found a helper.
