We can Maintain the One Accord by Prayer, the Spirit, and the Word for God’s Move

These all continued steadfastly with one accord in prayer... Acts 1:14

We can maintain the one accord by prayer, the Spirit, and the Word for God’s move; like the early disciples, we need to toil in the Word of God, labour in prayer, and be diligent in dealing with the Holy Spirit so that we may maintain the one accord. Amen!

This week in our morning revival, we come to the topic, Maintaining the One Accord by the Three Substances of the Power in the Lord’s Recovery – Prayer, the Spirit, and the Word. Amen!

Thank the Lord that we believers in Christ are the continuation of Christ, His reproduction, His life-increase and His spread! We are His full growth, His rich surplus, even one with Him as our glorious Head! He is the Head of the Body, and we are the Body of the Head.

What a mercy that we believers in Christ can be included in the continuation of Christ! We are the continuation of Acts, for we are continuing Christ today.

As Christians, those regenerated by God with His life and nature, we are writing the history of God, for God in Christ lives in us, and we are Jesus living again on the earth today. As the continuation of the book of Acts, we must have the continuation of the one accord.

We have the oneness of the Spirit; we simply need to practice it by having the one accord. The one accord pulls down the oneness to where we are in a practical way.

If we have the one accord, we have the master key to every blessing in the New Testament.

May we not only understand this but even more, pray over these matters and be those who maintain the one accord in our daily living and in our church life.

How do we maintain the one accord? According to what we see in the book of Acts and in the entire Bible, we maintain the one accord by three substances: prayer, the Spirit and the word.

The three substances of power in the Lord’s recovery are prayer, the Spirit, and the Word of God.

We have seen the need to have the one accord; now we need to see how we can maintain the one accord.

On the one hand, the one accord is the application and practice of the oneness, and it is something in our soul, for we need to be attuned in our soul to be in the same mind, same opinion, and same speaking to be in one accord.

On the other hand, we need to maintain the one accord, even to become of one accord and remain in the one accord by means of the prayer, the Spirit, and the Word.

It may not take that long to get into the one accord; it took the early disciples ten days to be in one accord. However, maintaining the one accord and remaining in one accord is a lifelong process.

We can Maintain the One Accord by Prayer, the Spirit, and the Word for God’s Move

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

How can we maintain the one accord? According to the divine revelation in God’s word, especially in the book of Acts, we can see that to maintain the one accord, we need to have prayer, the Spirit, and the Word for God’s move.

We can maintain the one accord by prayer, the Spirit, and the Word for God’s move. We need to be those who are toiling in the Word of God, labouring in prayer, and being diligent in dealing with the Holy Spirit.

The way we cooperate with the Lord to maintain the one accord is by means of the prayer, the Spirit, and the Word.

These three matters are the three substances of power in the Lord’s recovery. If we read the book of Acts, we see these three outstanding matters which are to maintain the accord.

The Lord Jesus told them that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them, and they will be His witnesses throughout the earth (Acts 1:8).

Then, the one hundred twenty continued steadfastly with one accord in prayer (1:14). When they prayed, they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness (4:31). The disciples decided to continue steadfastly in prayer and the ministry of the word (6:4).

The word of God grew, and the number of disciples in Jerusalem multiplied greatly (v. 7; 12:24; 19:20).

The disciples of Christ and those who believed into the Lord Jesus continued in prayer, in the Spirit, and in the Word for the move of God on the earth.

After they were released from prison, being imprisoned for the faith, they went back to their own people, prayed a marvellous prayer, the earth where they were gathered together was shaken, they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and then they spoke the word with boldness.

Again and again, as the disciples were practicing the church life, living the Christian life, and preaching the gospel, they were in one accord by means of prayer, the Spirit, and the word for God’s move. Today we need to take the same way to maintain the one accord.

We can practice the oneness of the Body of Christ and have the one accord, and we need to maintain the one accord.

The way we take today to carry out God’s move on the earth to fulfil His New Testament economy needs to be entirely by three main substances – prayer, the Spirit, and the Word.

And when they had so besought, the place in which they were gathered was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31Throughout the entire New Testament, we see that there are only these three main ways for us to carry out God’s economy.

If we look at Christianity today, many Christian groups and denominations take a different way than what we see in the New Testament.

They think they need to take this way or use this particular practice or gimmick in order to gain the young people or present an updated version of the Word of God to meet the needs of the people today.

But the Bible clearly tells us that we need to take one unique way for the Lord’s move – prayer, the Spirit, and the Word. We need to pray in one accord, be filled with the Spirit, and speak the word of God.

We need to give ourselves to be filled with the Spirit by means of much prayer, and when we speak to others, we need to speak the Word of God and nothing else.

If we use any other way except prayer, the Spirit, and the Word to carry out the gospel or the church life, there will be some side effects, including dissension and damage to the one accord.

May we come back to the divine revelation in God’s word and take time to practice what the Bible says.

Even if we are tempted to use some interesting ways or different practices to care for the young ones or draw more new ones, even if it may seem awkward to take the genuine way, we still need to take the way of prayer, the Spirit, and the Word. We can tell the Lord,

Lord Jesus, we want to maintain the one accord among us by means of prayer, the Spirit, and the Word. Amen, Lord, keep us enjoying You today. Keep us in prayer, even praying in one accord in spirit. Fill us with Your spirit. Fill us inwardly and clothe us outwardly with the Spirit. Oh Lord, we want to go one with You and care for others, preach the gospel, and build up the church by speaking Your living word! Save us from using any other way than prayer, the Spirit, and the Word to carry on the gospel or the church life. Save us from using any gimmicks or worldly ways to draw new ones or shepherd the young ones. Amen, Lord, may we know and use the three substances of power in the Lord’s recovery – prayer, the Spirit, and the Word! May we be those toiling in the Word, labouring in prayer, and being diligent in dealing with the Holy Spirit! May we pray in one accord, be filled with the Spirit, and speak only the word of God for You to have a way in us and among us!

We must Pray that we might have the Spirit as the Power to Spread the Word of God

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God. Col. 3:16

May the Lord bring us back to the divine revelation in God’s word concerning the way we can maintain the one accord. It takes time and patience in this matter, for we have to labour and toil.

The biblical way to maintain the one accord is not natural, nor is it by default; it is something we need to learn, mainly by denying ourselves and putting aside our own ways.

We must pray that we might have the Spirit as the power to spread the word of God (Acts 6:7; 12:24; 19:20; cf. 1 Tim. 5:17-18).

This means that we need to take time so that we may get ourselves saturated, constituted, and even soaked with the holy Word of God in the Bible (Col. 3:16).

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness, but be filled in spirit. Eph. 5:18 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52The word of God needs to dwell in us richly. If we are burdened to preach the gospel, we must get into the Word and be persons who know the Word.

Maintaining the one accord has to do with our daily living and with our inner being. We need to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly in all wisdom.

Not only the leading ones, who are counted worthy of double honour if they labour in the word, but we all as the saints in the local churches, need to pray to have the Spirit as the power and we must be filled with God’s word to speak it.

How can we care for others if we don’t have God’s word dwelling in us richly? We don’t shepherd others with things or with our own personal ideas; our cargo needs to be the Word of God.

We don’t preach the gospel by using loud music to attract others or Christian theatre or other things like this; we simply take the way of prayer, the Spirit, and the Word.

We need to get ourselves immersed in the Word of God, saturated with the Word of God, and soaked with the holy Word. We need to be constituted with the Word.

Not only those who serve the Lord with their full time but we all, those who live the Christian life and have a family, a job, and many responsibilities in the human realm, need to take time to be in the Lord’s word.

It is a blessing for us to take at least half an hour every day to be in the Word of God. We need to find ways to be in the Word, be saturated with the Word, and be filled with the Word of God. The word becomes the power.

We should ask the Lord to bring our whole being into the light and be dealt with Him to become persons of power (Eph. 5:18; Acts 2:38; 5:32b; 4:8, 31; 13:9, 52). This means that we need to be filled with the Spirit within and without, essentially and economically!

If we want the power to spread the Word so that we can flow the Lord out to bless the church, we need to pay the price.

We can’t just ask for the divine power; what we need is to go to the Lord, remain in His presence, and ask for His shining.

We need to spend much time with the Lord not just speaking to Him and pouring our heart before Him but even more, being quiet before Him, allowing Him to have access to our inner being.

Most of us have a time with the Lord daily, but do we have the habit to allow the Lord to shine on us and have access to our whole being?

We may be so busy with work or family matters, or we may be quite involved with the Lord’s work, but there should be no excuse for us not to have time with the Lord.

We need to be diligent to deal with the Holy Spirit by coming to the Lord and asking Him to shine on us.

We need to allow Him to shine on our words, our relationships with others, the way we treat our spouse and the people around us, our looseness, our sins, and our shortcomings.

Such times with the Lord to open to Him should be frequent.

And Peter said to them, Repent and each one of you be baptized upon the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 And we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him. Acts 5:32In a sense, we need to even forget about our working for the Lord or serving Him, even not put our gospel service and the increase of the church on the first place but rather, be before the Lord. We are all short in this matter.

In Acts 2:38 and 5:32, we see the need to repent, be baptised for the forgiveness of sins, and will receive the Spirit. If we want to have the fullness of the Spirit as the blessing, we need much repentance.

We may even repent with tears before the Lord. God gives the Holy Spirit to those who repent and to those who obey.

The early disciples could not have maintained the one accord if they had different ways, means, agents, or substances for them to carry out the Lord’s move on this earth.

For us to maintain the one accord, we all must learn to do the same thing by the same way (Acts 1:14; 4:31). We must not think of taking a way other than prayer, the Spirit, and the Word; any other way will cause dissension and division.

We need to pray and open to the Lord; we must even toil in prayer. We must be in the Word of God, being saturated and soaked with the Word.

And we need open to the Lord to allow Him to point out all our shortcomings, impurities, and any sinfulness. He needs to purify us and chastise us, so that when we open our mouth, we will speak the word with power.

Whatever will come out of our mouth will be powerful, for we will be cleansed and purified, and the Spirit fills us. How much we need to open to the Lord concerning this matter, for we want to be those who maintain the one accord!

Lord Jesus, we want to maintain the one accord by praying so that we may have the Spirit as the power to spread the Word! We give ourselves to You, dear Lord, to be saturated, constituted, and even soaked with the holy Word of God! Oh Lord, we want to get into Your word and be persons who know the Word. May the word of Christ dwell in us richly in all wisdom. Saturate us and permeate us with Your word. Shine on us, Lord. Bring our whole being into the light. We open to You. May we be dealt with by You to become persons of power. May we be filled with the Spirit within and without, essentially and economically. Oh Lord, we just open to Your shining today. We repent for our shortcomings, our looseness, our being improper, and our not expressing You. We give You more access to our inner being. Oh Lord, we want to be a channel of life and blessing to our family, to those around us, and to the church. We take the way of prayer, the Spirit, and the Word so that You may freely flow through us as we maintain the one accord in the church life!

We should not use anything other than prayer, the Spirit, and the Word to carry on the gospel or the church life. Otherwise, we should be prepared for some side effects like dissension, which will damage the real one accord. It may seem very awkward to take the genuine way. It takes time and patience; we have to labor and toil. Let us toil in the Word, labor in prayer, and be diligent in dealing with the Holy Spirit. This is worthwhile. We have to spend much time to get into the Word; we have to get ourselves saturated, constituted, and even soaked with the holy Word. We must also get ourselves constituted with our contact with the Lord. We have to contact Him day by day and hour after hour; then we will be the right person. If you are burdened to preach the gospel, you must get into the Word and be one who knows the Word. A person may be a manager of a bank or a college professor, but he still has to spend time in the Word…For you to go out to contact people, you need to know the holy Word. Then use all your available time to pray to contact the living Lord.

Brother, we believers can only fulfill God’s economy by 3 means: prayer, the Spirit and the Word. We must be those who toil in the Word, labour in prayer, and deal with the Holy Spirit.

Eph. 4:1-3 I beseech you therefore, I, the prisoner in the Lord, to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, bearing one another in love, being diligent to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace.

As the continuation of the book of Acts we must take no other way to be in and maintain the one accord, than to toil in prayer, labour in the word and be diligent in dealing with the Holy Spirit.

Then, as such persons, filled in spirit within and without we will be empowered to preach the gospel, to speak the word of God with boldness.

Lord, have mercy on us to be such persons in Your recovery to take no other way than prayer, the Spirit and the word! Amen Lord. Attune us that we may live in one accord in the Body!

Amen, attune us Lord.

Like the early disciples, we must carry out the movement of God’s economy through three main substances, prayer, spirit and the word, doing the same thing in the same way to avoid division. I appreciated it.

The word today concerning prayer is that we must leave ourselves open to let the Lord come in and expose us to the light.

Lord bring our entire being into the light and expose our real condition and saturate us through prayer so that when we speak every word is powerful and attuned
