We need to know what the Triune God has done for us and highly regard the work of the Triune God – the work of the Father, the work of the Son, and the work of the Spirit.
We need to keep God’s Sabbaths, that is, we need to realise that the work of God was done entirely by Himself so that we may enjoy it. God did all the work of creation, we had nothing to do with anything related to this work. God did all the work of redemption, we had nothing to do with this.
God did all the work, God is doing all the work, and we simply need to see this, know this, and highly regard the work of the Triune God. This means, practically, that we don’t need to “work on ourselves to be better”, neither should we try to improve ourselves or do a work for God to please God.
Everything is done by God, and even in our salvation, as we work out our own salvation, He is the one who works out both the willing and the working for His good pleasure. We need to learn to receive, regard, respect, and enjoy what God has done and not try to do something for ourselves.
We all need to learn – we need to learn what God has done for us, what He is doing for us, and what He will do for us, and we need to enjoy His work, enter into His work, and be one with God in His work.
God desires to gain a people who expresses Him and represents Him – we need to see this and let Him do this in us. God’s work requires our cooperation, not our initiation or work with our effort.
God just wants us to see what He has done and what He is doing, enjoy His work, and enter into His rest and enjoyment, so that He may do His work in us.
Many times, however, we may not be willing to allow God to do His work in us, so we struggle and strive to do things for God, not appreciating what He is doing for us and in us. God wants us to stop our doing, be replaced by Christ, and keep away from the taste of anything other than Christ.
The way to enjoy Christ as the unsearchably rich One is by taking Him as our real Sabbath rest and stopping ourselves with all our living, doing, and activity to receive Him we our life, person, and replacement.
When we stop ourselves by turning to the spirit and contacting the Lord in everything, we will experience Christ we the power of resurrection to be transformed and soar in the heavens, far above every earthly frustrations (see Isa. 40:28-31).
We need to Know what the Triune God has Done for us and Highly Regard the Work of the Father
If we study the New Testament diligently with the proper understanding, we will realise that God does everything, and we simply need to enjoy His work and cooperate with Him.
There are at least 61 aspects of the work of the Father, 97 aspects of the work of Christ the Son, and 103 aspects of the work of the Spirit in the New Testament. If we would daily read the Bible and enjoy, highly regard, and appreciate the work of the Triune God, we will stop our doing, stop trying to do this or be that, and we will simply allow the Triune God to operate in us.
Yes, on the one hand we need to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, but on the other, it is God who operates in us both the willing and the working. Hallelujah!
The Lord Jesus said in John 5:17 that the Father is working; we can see that the Father is working in eternity past, in His old dispensation, in His new dispensation, and in eternity future, in many aspects!
The work of the Father includes:
The Father chose the believers before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4). Hallelujah, before we were born – even before the foundation of the world, the Father chose us, selected us, to be His sons, the believers in Christ! From among numberless people God selected us in Christ.
The Father predestinated the believers unto sonship (v. 5). We were not only chosen by God but we were also predestinated to be His sons, those born of God with His life and nature to enjoy all the riches of His divine life.
The Father sent His Son in the likeness of the flesh of sin (Rom. 8:3). Though we were dead in sins and offenses, the Father sent His Son in the likeness of the flesh of sin and concerning sin, and He condemned sin in the flesh, so that we may be redeemed.
The Father came in the Son and working within the Son (John 5:17, 24, 30). The Son didn’t just come by Himself; the Father came in the Son and with the Son, and the Father worked in the Son and as the Son. The Son did the work, but it was the Father doing His work in the Son. The Father was the Initiator and the One doing the work.
The Father passed through death in the Son (Heb. 9:12; Acts 20:28; 1 John 1:7). The One who died on the cross was not just Jesus, but Jesus the Son of God; the blood that redeemed us was not just the blood of Christ, but the blood of Christ, the Son of God. The Father was there in the Son passing through death.
The Father raised up Christ from the dead (Acts 2:24). On one hand Christ raised Himself from the dead, for He could not be held by death, but on the other, God the Father raised up Christ from the dead, for He approved Christ’s work and justified us in Christ’s resurrection.
The Father seated Christ in the heavenlies, subjecting all things under His feet, and giving Him to be Head over all things to the church (Eph. 1:20-23). Hallelujah! God the Father raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the heavenlies on the throne, far above all things, and He subjected all things under His feet, giving Him to be Head over all things to the church!
The Father is calling, forgiving, justifying, reconciling, receiving, regenerating, washing, sanctifying, and glorifying the believers (Rom. 8:30, 33; 5:10; 14:3; 1 Thes. 2:12; 5:23; Heb. 8:12; 1 Pet. 1:3; 1 John 1:9). God called us, He forgives us, He justifies us, He reconciles us to Himself, He receives us to Himself, He regenerates us, He washes us of our sins, He sanctifies us, and He will glorify us. All these are the works that the Father does for us and in us!
The Father sent forth the Spirit of His Son into the believers’ hearts (Gal. 4:6). When we believed into the Lord, God the Father sent forth the Spirit of His Son in our hearts; this Spirit is the Spirit of sonship, and in this Spirit mingled with our spirit we call, Abba, Father!
The Father causes all things to work together for good to those who love God and who are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28). Amen, all things are being caused to work together for good for us if we love God; God works all things for good for His believers, according to His good pleasure.
The Father crushes Satan under the believers’ feet (Rom. 16:20). Soon, very soon, God will crush Satan under our feet; as the church is built up and prepared, God will crush the enemy under the built-up church! Hallelujah!
The Father is bringing many believers into glory (Heb. 2:10). God the Father brings many believers into glory; He has already glorified Christ, the first God-man, and now He is bringing us, the many reproductions of Christ, into the same glory that Christ has entered into.
Thank You Father for Your work! Thank You for choosing us before the foundation of the world and predestinating us unto sonship. Thank You Father for sending Your Son in the likeness of the flesh of sin; You came in the Son and worked in the Son, and You passed through death in the Son. Thank You Father God for raising up Christ from the dead and seating Him in the heavenlies, giving Him to be Head over all things to the church! Thank You Father for calling us, forgiving us, justifying us, reconciling us, receiving us, regenerating us, washing us, sanctifying us, and glorifying us! Thank You Father for sending forth the Spirit of Your Son in our hearts, and thank You for causing all things to work together for good for us, according to Your purpose! Amen, Father, thank You for crushing Satan under the feet of the built-up church, and thank You for bringing us into glory! Hallelujah!
Knowing the Work of the Triune God and Enjoy the Work of God the Son – the Work of Christ
Hallelujah for our Lord Jesus Christ! He has done so much for us, and we are eternally grateful to Him for what He has accomplished!
We need to realize that Christ has done all the work, and even in working in us, He is doing all the work; all we have to do is enjoy Him, be open to Him, and enter into His work by resting in Him and with Him.
There are at least 97 aspects of the work of Christ as revealed in the New Testament, and here are some of them:
Christ brought God into man and making God one with man (John 1:1, 14). When Jesus was born, something amazing happened: God was born in man, God was brought into man! The incarnation of Christ was not only for the producing of the Savior; it was for bringing divinity into humanity. God became a man, God was brought into man, and God was made one with man in Christ’s incarnation. Christ accomplished the great work of making God one with man; God made the two – God and man – one person with two natures, divinity and humanity.
Christ served people (Matt. 20:28). He came not to be served but to serve; He came to serve man even by laying down His life for man. He put away the outward form of His majesty and splendor, took the form of man, lowered Himself even to be a slave, and He served us.
Christ sowed the seed of the kingdom (13:19, 24, 37). He preached the gospel of the kingdom and, by His speaking and His being, He sowed the seed of the kingdom. He Himself is the kingdom of God, He is the Sower, and He is the seed of the kingdom. He came to sow Himself as the seed of the kingdom in our heart.
Christ undid the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). For this Christ, the Son of God, was manifested, that He would undo the works of the devil. Whatever the devil has done, Christ came to undo, bring to naught, and terminate.
As the Lamb of God, Christ took away the sin of the world (John 1:29). He came not as a strong bull or a mighty king but as a Lamb, and He laid down His life; by His death on the cross, He took away the sin of the world. This is the work of the Triune God – the work of Christ.
Christ destroyed the devil, who has the might of death (Heb. 2:14). Christ undid the works of the devil, and through the cross He destroyed the devil, the one who has the might of death. Hallelujah, this is an accomplished fact, and it will be applied very soon!
Christ is rebuilding God’s temple, making it a corporate one (John 2:19-22). He came as the tabernacle of God, even as the temple of God; through His death the temple of God was enlarged to include millions of believers, and thus it became a corporate temple. Christ rebuilt God’s temple and made it a corporate one. Hallelujah!
Christ became the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45b). Christ not only became a man and mingled God with man, but even more, in His resurrection Christ became a life-giving Spirit. So now He can impart life into us whenever we call on Him and open to Him. This is part of the work of the Triune God – the work of Christ!
As the Lord, Christ exercises His sovereignty over all for the accomplishment of the divine economy (Acts 2:36). He makes sure all that God has planned and willed in His divine economy is being carried out, and He sovereignly arranges all things for God’s economy to be fulfilled.
Christ is building the church (Matt. 16:18). His death released His divine life, in His resurrection He became a life-giving Spirit and produced the church, and today He is building His church. He builds the church with Himself as the element and basic factor by adding Himself to us.
As our High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek, Christ is interceding for us (Heb. 5:10; 7:24-26). He is our High Priest, and He always lives to intercede for us that we may live a life for God’s purpose and we would cooperate with His heavenly ministry for the building up of the church as the Body of Christ.
As the Ruler of the kings of the earth, Christ ruling the whole world that the gospel may spread and the church may be produced (Rev. 1:5). Hallelujah! He is the Administrator in the divine government in the universe, carrying out God’s governmental activities over all thing son this earth.
His view in doing this is that all the situations on earth may serve the purpose for the fulfilling of God’s plan and His promises that His divine economy might be accomplished.
There may be news of war, speculations, and opinions, but the fact is that the Lord Jesus is the Lord of lords and the King of kings, and He exercises His lordship over all the leaders of the earth and all situations to spread the gospel, build up the Body, and bring this age to a close!
Praise You Lord Jesus for all the work You have accomplished! Thank You for bringing God into man and making God one with man. Thank You for coming to serve us and for sowing the seed of the kingdom of God in our heart. Lord, You are undoing the works of the devil, and You took away the sin of the world. Thank You Lord for destroying the devil, who has the might of death! Hallelujah, Christ is rebuilding God’s temple, making it a corporate one to include all the believers in Christ. Thank You Lord for becoming a life-giving Spirit. We praise You as the Lord who exercises His sovereignty over all for the accomplishment of the divine economy. Lord, You are building up the church, and You’re our High Priest interceding for us. We praise You Lord for being the Ruler of the kings of the earth, ruling the whole world that the gospel may spread and the church may be produced!
