Course after course and dish after dish, this week we have been enjoying every day this wonderful Christ in the Gospel of Matthew. What an all-inclusive Christ! It is so good to forget about ourselves, forget about our problems and our situations, and just look away unto Jesus to enjoy Him, appreciate Him, and love Him!
To God, Christ is everything, and Christ is what God gives to us – God does not want to give us anything except Christ as our everything. Christ needs to become our everything – by us enjoying Him in all these aspects.
Christ is our heavenly King, the Shepherd of the sheep, and today we see more: Christ is the Lord of the harvest, Christ is the friend of the sinners and the wisdom of God, and Christ is the One who gives us rest! Our Christ is such – He is so much! Oh, what a Christ!
- Christ is the Lord of the harvest (Matt. 9:38). The work is not ours, it is Christ’s – it is Christ’s Body, His crop, His cultivated land. When we see a need for help in the church life, in the work, we need to first ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers. God knows the need, but His principle is that He needs man to pray to Him and be one with Him in what He wants to do. God has a plan to accomplish, and in His economy He requires His people to beseech, to pray, for His purpose to be accomplished. God needs His people to see His purpose and pray His heart’s desire back to Him – in this way, He will have a way to come in and accomplish what they have prayed according to His plan! We need to see a vision of Christ as the Lord of the harvest – and then we will first pray, whenever there is a need. When we pray to the Lord of the harvest, we truly honor Him.
- Christ is the friend of the sinners and the wisdom of God – Christ is not only the Savior and the Redeemer, but He is also the friend of the sinners, symphatizing with them and sensing their griefs, problems, and needs. Sinners loved to be around Him and they absorbed His words when He was around them. Also, Christ is the Wisdom of God (see Matt. 11:19 and 1 Cor. 1:24, 30). Whatever Christ did was done by the wisdom of God – which is Christ Himself. He did everything wisely, with no mistake or accident. And now we, as the kingdom people and the sons of wisdom, are justifying Him – by following Him as the wisdom of God! We as the kingdom people justify Christ whenever we are in our spirit – it is when we are in our spirit that Christ as the wisdom of God becomes our wisdom and we know when to go, when to stay, when to sing, when to cry, when to be happy, etc.
- Christ is the One who gives us rest (Matt. 11:29-30) – He calls us to come to Him if we are burdened and are loaded, and He will give us rest! How does He give us rest? We need to take His yoke upon us – His yoke is the will of the Father – and bear His burden – the work to carry out the will of the Father – and we will have rest for our souls… This is not to be regulated or controlled by any obligations of the law or religion, nor to be enslaved by any work, but to be constrained by the will of the Father! The Lord cared only for the Father’s will (John 3:34; 5:30; 6:38) and He fully submitted Himself to the Father’s will (even unto death, Matt. 26:39-42). In all the opposition He encountered, Christ was meek; in all the rejection He met, Christ was lowly in heart. Because all He cared for was the will of the Father, and because He fully submitted Himself to the will of the Father, Christ had rest in His heart regardless of the situation! When we come to Him as such a One, we will also have rest in our soul – by enjoying Him as the One who gives us rest!
Praise the Lord for such a Christ! He is the Lord of the harvest, He is the friend of the sinners and also the wisdom of God, and He is the One who gives us rest. Our reaction and our response when we see such a Christ is to open to Him, love Him, and pray over these matters – asking Him to be this One to us.
We want not only to KNOW Him as such a One, but also to EXPERIENCE and ENJOY Him as such a wonderful Person! [sharing inspired from the life-study of Matthew (by brother W. Lee), as quoted in the Morning Revival on The Crucial Elements of the Bible]
We love You, Lord! Save us from trying to cover all the needs in Your work by ourselves – keep us coming to You as the Lord of the harvest. Lord, the harvest is Yours! The crop and the work is Yours. Lord, thrust out workers into Your harvest! Amen! Lord, thank You we can come to You as the wisdom of God and as the Friend of the sinners. You are so approachable, so lovely, and also very wise! Lord, we come to You that You may give us rest for our souls…
What a Christ we have!
Amen. Our reaction and our response when we see such a Christ is to open to Him, love Him, and pray over these matters – asking Him to be this One to us. We want not only to KNOW Him as such a One, but also to EXPERIENCE and ENJOY Him as such a wonderful Person!. Amen.
