The Hannah Ministry: Pray for the Man-child to Bring in the Kingdom with Christ as the King

And she brought forth a son, a man-child, who is to shepherd all the nations with an iron rod; and her child was caught up to God and to His throne. Rev. 12:5

The first book of Samuel for a ministry that brings in the King with His kingdom; we may call this “the Hannah ministry”, which is different from the ministry of Peninah, for it is through the ministry of such like Hannah that the King with the kingdom can be brought in. Amen!

In particular, coming from the ministry of brother Watchman Nee, we see that these two – Hannah and Peninnah – each have a different ministry; they are both part of the people of God, and they both have a ministry.

Hannah was not only part of the people of God: she was inwardly motivated by God to be desperate to have a son, and her need matched God’s need.

The result of God inwardly motivating Hannah and her prayer was Samuel, a Nazarite, one who cooperated with God to the uttermost to change the age.

The way that Samuel was produced, his origin not being of man but of God, and the way that he lived indicates what kind of person we should be today and what kind of work we should do.

What the Lord is doing today is to terminate the age of judges in which everyone does what is right in his own eyes and some revivalists come in to bring God’s people to Him, to the age of the kingdom.

We are on the precipice of a new age: the Lord wants to end this age and bring in the age of the kingdom; however He won’t do it alone – He wants His overcomers, His Nazarites, to cooperate with Him.

We need to be those who cooperate with the Lord’s inner motivation to be made desperate by Him so that we may pray age-turning prayers and overcomer-producing prayers.

May the Lord grant us to be those who not only are Christians in a general way nor merely those who attend the meetings of the church frequently but to be the overcomers who render Him the cooperation He needs for Him to bring in a new age.

Christ as the King of glory wants to come, but He needs the Hannahs of today who pray desperately and the Samuels who cooperate with Him to bring in a new age with the King.

The Hannah Ministry: Turning the Age to bring Christ back as the King of Glory

And he had two wives; the name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other was Peninnah. Now Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. 1 Sam. 1:2 And when the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters. 1 Sam. 1:4 And so it happened year after year; when she went up to the house of Jehovah, the other provoked her this way; and she wept and would not eat. 1 Sam. 1:7Peninnah and Hannah represent two fundamentally different principles and two fundamentally different ministries (1 Sam. 1:2, 4, 7).

Hannah’s ministry was just to bring in the king, not to have many children, while Peninnah’s ministry was to have many children, that is, a ministry with much result.

This doesn’t mean that in the church life we don’t care for the gospel or the increase of the church; rather, we do care for this, but our focus is not on the increase but to bring Christ back as the King of glory.

Peninnah and her children represent the majority of the believers, the people of God, but none of them has anything to do with turning the age to bring Christ back as the King of glory (Psa. 24:1-3, 7-10).

There are many mega-churches in Christianity today, but if you listen to what they speak from the pulpit, it is a watered-down gospel, even a gospel that tickles the ears of the hearers, inspiring them and having no element of the cross, the death of Christ, or the Body of Christ.

We should be careful concerning our situation and our attitude in this matter because, as we see in Matt. 13, the small mustard seed that was sown in the earth and was supposed to grow as a small, easy-to-reach, and food-producing plant has become transmogrified into a great tree.

What Christianity is today is nothing but a great tree with a lot of organizations as branches, no fruit, and a lot of leaves, and in it, many evil people and things are happening (signified by the birds of heaven that settle on the branches).

Instead of being small and feeding others, Christianity has become something great, very much increased, but with nothing of life or related to the fulfillment of God’s purpose.

We do not want to be part of or become the great tree; no matter how much increase we get, we should always be a remnant.

We need to be those who have the Hannah ministry, not seeking mainly to have a great increase but seeking to bring in the King of glory.

Most Christians today have nothing to do with the bringing in of Christ as the king, and they do not know that the age is about to end.

None of them has anything to do with turning the age to bring Christ back as the King of glory.

We want to have the honor of being well-pleasing to God, for we want to cooperate with the Lord to bring Him back.

Hannah's way was not an easy way, and it was made even more difficult because of Peninnah's comparisons and tauntings. Those who want to be Hannahs must prepare themselves for persecution, scorn, weeping, and fasting. This ministry costs. A price has to be paid because all such ministry comes through testing and suffering; it has to be wrought into us. Others can eat and drink and look at their children, but here was one who fasted and wept. It is not a matter of how many we can save but a matter of God getting His company of overcomers. God wants to get a people who will be able to pray and bring in the kingdom. Collected Works of Watchman Nee, Vol. 46, Chapter 14In these last days, God’s eyes are set on those who can be the means of bringing in the King, Christ as the King of glory.

We need to ask ourselves, what is our ministry? Do we have a part in this special ministry, the Hannah ministry, which is the ministry of bringing in the King?

This is the new testament ministry, the ministry of the Spirit, the ministry of righteousness, and the ministry of reconciliation.

Hannah’s way was not an easy way, and it was made even more difficult because of Peninah’s comparisons and tauntings; those who want to be Hannahs must prepare themselves for persecution, scorn, weeping, and fasting.

The Hannah ministry is not something superficial or shallow; it is the way of the cross, and it involves persecution, scorn, weeping, and fasting.

Because we want to take the way of the Lord in the Lord’s recovery, some believers may speak evil things concerning us and may persecute us, even slander us either in print or online.

Peninnah persecuted and provoked Hannah, but Hannah only prayed; we may be persecuted and scorned, but all we do is pray, bring this to the Lord, and be desperate before Him concerning the desire of His heart, which is to end this age and bring in the King of glory with His kingdom.

May we receive the grace and mercy to be such ones, those who have the Hannah ministry and who pay the price to focus only on the hastening of the Lord’s return with His kingdom.

Dear Lord Jesus, we give ourselves to You to not only live a normal Christian life but hasten Your return and bring in the King of glory with His kingdom! Amen, Lord, grant us to have the Hannah ministry which is to bring in the King with the kingdom. Save us from merely being in the realm of Christianity without any focus on ending the age and bringing in the kingdom. May we focus not merely on the increase of the church or the increase in number in the church life; may our focus be on the hastening of the Lord’s return with His kingdom! Amen, Lord, keep our heart pure and single for You, bearing Your reproach and withstanding any opposition and persecution so that we may take this way, the way that brings You back!

Being those who Pray for the Man-child to bring in the Kingdom with Christ as the King

And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, Now has come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ, for the accuser of our brothers has been cast down, who accuses them before our God day and night. Rev. 12:10

Hannah’s prayer issued in the king with his kingdom, because she brought forth an overcoming Nazarite who directly brought in the king with his kingdom.

If you don’t have Samuel, you don’t have David; Samuel has to come first. Hannah prayed, and the overcoming Nazarite came in; this overcoming Nazarite was under God’s direction to anoint first Sau and then David to be king.

What the Lord is looking for today is the dispensational instrument that He can use to end this age and bring in the age of the kingdom.

But who on earth cooperates with Him for this? Who prays for the manchild to be brought in so that the kingdom would come in with Christ as the King?

Today it is not merely a matter of how many we can save and bring to the Lord but a matter of God getting His company of overcomers.

And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures and in the midst of the elders a Lamb standing as having [just] been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. Rev. 5:6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God. Rev. 2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall by no means be hurt of the second death. Rev. 2:11What God wants to get is a people who are able to pray and bring in the kingdom with Christ as the King and His overcomers as the co-kings. Amen!

Our prayer needs to issue not merely in more shepherding and care for the saints but in the producing of the overcomers so that the manchild would be brought forth.

But this is not an easy way; when David was anointed as king, he didn’t just start to rule but rather, went through a lot of persecution, trials, and jealousy from Saul, the king in Israel.

May the Lord enlighten us and strengthen us so that we may cooperate with Him for the producing of His overcomers, the manchild to bring in the kingdom with Christ as the King.

Hannah’s prayer was the means for the birth of Samuel; similarly, our prayers should result in the bringing forth of overcomers! Amen!

May we pray in oneness with the ascended Christ in His heavenly ministry in the stage of intensification for the producing of overcomers (Rev. 1:4; 3:1; 4:5; 5:6; 2:7, 11, 17, 26-29; 3:5-6, 12-13, 21-22).

As He is walking among the churches, Christ in His heavenly ministry is not only shepherding the churches according to God to trim the wicks and add the oil but He is also calling the overcomers.

He is calling those who, in whatever situation they are in, would overcome by being produced by Him as the sevenfold intensified Spirit to be the overcomers in that age.

In Hannah’s case, she came to the point where she could not go on without a son; she came to the point where she HAD to have a son.

The son in 1 Sam. 1 typifies the overcoming, corporate manchild in Rev. 12:5, the one who turns the age to bring in the King with His kingdom.

God’s most important dispensational move is seen in Rev. 12 with the man-child; this man-child is composed of Christ as the leading Overcomer and us as the following overcomers.

God wants to end the age of the church and bring in the age of the King with His kingdom, so He needs the overcoming, corporate man-child as His dispensational instrument.

This is His primary work; for this, He has been intensified sevenfold to intensify His organic salvation, produce the overcomers, and consummate the New Jerusalem.

If we see this, we will pray for nothing else but this. God is about to do His most important dispensational move by bringing forth the man-child, and we can participate in this ultimate move, the move that will end this age and bring in the King with His kingdom.

When God changes His attitude toward a certain matter, He makes a dispensational move. Every dispensational move brings in God's new way. His most important dispensational move is in Revelation 12. He wants to end this age and bring in the age of the kingdom. His purpose is not general and ordinary. How can He bring this age to a close and bring in another? He must have His dispensational instrument. This is what God wants to do today. The Glorious Church, pp. 156-157, by Watchman NeeThe rapture of the man-child brings an end to the church age and brings in the kingdom age; after this rapture there’s a “loud voice in heaven, saying, Now has come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ” (Rev. 12:10).

The universal bright woman in Rev. 12:2 gives birth to a man-child, which is the stronger part of the woman.

The woman was in travail, in the birth pangs, for she needed to deliver the man-child; as soon as he was delivered, he was caught up to God, the enemy was cast down, and the end of the age came.

Throughout the generations, God’s people have been suffering the travail of delivery, whether they realized it or not, for the man-child to be produced.

When the man-child is produced, God will rapture him to His throne, and He has a way to do what He wants to do, for this man-child will fight one with Him.

May we be the ones composing the man-child, and may we pray for the manchild to be brought forth to bring in the King with His kingdom, so that God will gain what He is after, the ending of this age and the bringing in of the age of the kingdom.

Lord Jesus, may our prayers result in the bringing forth of the overcomers. We want to pray in oneness with the ascended Christ in His heavenly ministry in the stage of intensification for the producing of the overcomers. Amen, Lord, what You need is the overcoming ones; we stand one with You on earth for this. Gain the man-child. May the man-child be brought forth even as Your people throughout the ages travails in birth pangs. Yes, Lord, may the man-child be brought forth and be caught up to God so that the enemy would be cast down and the kingdom of the world would become the kingdom of the Lord and of His Christ! Amen, Lord Jesus, may Your kingdom come! May this age end and Your kingdom come in!
