In Genesis chapter 2 we see a tree in the middle of the garden called, The Tree Of Life, in front of which man was placed. When God created man in His image and with His likeness, He intended that man would express Him and represent Him (Gen. 1:26) – and the way for man to do this, according to the record in Genesis, is by man taking in the tree of life!
God Himself presented Himself to man as life to be taken in by man, digested and assimilated by man, so that man would fulfill God’s purpose in creating man. First of all, God created man as a vessel to contain God as life (Rom. 9:21; 2 Cor. 4:7; 2 Tim. 2:21), then He put this man in front of the tree of life – which signifies the Triune God embodied in Christ as life to man in the form of food.
Praise the Lord – it is so good to see that by the fact that God placed man in front of the tree of life we understand clearly that God wants us to receive Him as our life by us eating God organically and assimilating Him metabolically so that God in Christ may be the very constituent of our being!
God didn’t give man a set of rules to follow, He didn’t tell man what to work for Him, etc – He just presented Himself as life to man! And just in case man may miss the tree of life, this tree was situated in the middle of the garden (Gen. 2:7)!
In the Old Testament man could not take God in as life, but in the New Testament Christ came and in Him was life (John 1:4)! In John 15:1 Christ is the vine tree – if we put this verse together with John 1:4 we see that Christ is the tree of life.
In John 10:10 we see that the Lord Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly. God became a man in the person of the Lord Jesus and He was processed through incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection, so that man may take Christ in as life and live by eating Him (John 6:51, 57, 63). Now Christ as the last Adam is the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45b) and He gives life to us whenever we call on His name.
God in Christ as the Spirit wants to come into us as life and fill us, saturate us, and permeate us with His life until we live Christ! When we eat of the tree of life by touching the Lord, exercising our spirit to call on His name, having fellowship with Him, or in many other ways to genuinely exercise our spirit, we enjoy the divine life contained in the tree of life, and we become more God’s expression!
The principle of the tree of life is dependence – we depend on life once we take this life in. If we eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, we become independent; but when we eat the tree of life, we depend on the Lord as our life. Christ is our life an dour life supply continually – we daily need to take Him in! We continue to eat Christ as the tree of life so that we may be satisfied with Him (Exo. 15:25) and filled with Him!
Christ imparts the divine life into us, He pleases us, and He satisfies us. This is what God intends for us, that we may take God in as life and be satisfied only with Christ as the tree of life! Thank You Lord Jesus – You are the tree of life! Keep us enjoying You as life! Save us from trying to do something for You first – may we first open to eat You as life, and then be one with Your life in us! Thank You for being processed and consummated to become our life supply, Lord… we truly depend on You! Lord, You are our life. Lord, You are the tree of life, so good for food and so available for us to eat! We open to You right now to eat of You! Lord, You are our real food!
