Praise the Lord for the book of Galatians, where we see a contrast between Christ and the law – a real contrast between Christ and religion! God gave the law for a short period of time as a guide, an instructor, to bring His people to Christ – when Christ came, the law was over!
Now we no longer need to strive and struggle to keep the law – we just need to enjoy Christ, the living Person, who fulfills the law and is Himself the fulfillment of the law!
The Christ given to us by God is the all-inclusive One, and He is the One that God wants to be revealed in us, living in us, and formed in us. This is not a doctrine – this is something that can be experienced and enjoyed by us!
I really enjoyed this morning these three aspects of experiencing the indwelling Christ – by having Christ revealed in us, by having Christ living in us, and by having Christ formed in us!
- Experiencing the indwelling Christ by having Christ revealed in us (Gal. 1:15-16). It pleased God to reveal His Son in me – it is God’s utmost pleasure and delight to reveal the Son of His love in us! Nothing is more pleasing to God than the unveiling, the revelation, the revealing of the living Person of the Son of God into us! When Christ is revealed in us, the divine life is brought into us – and the more revelation we receive of the Son of God, the more He will live in us! We need to pray and tell the Lord to reveal more of His Son in us every day – it is God’s pleasure to reveal His Son in us!
- Experiencing the indwelling Christ by living Christ (Gal. 2:20). Our normal daily Christian life is a life of “no longer I but Christ” living. On the one hand, it is us that lives – but it is Christ who lives in us; on the other hand, we no longer live, but Christ is the One who does the living. Just as the living Father has sent Christ and Christ lived by the Father (John 6:57), so we who eat, enjoy, love, and are being infused with Christ also live because of Him! God wants us not to keep the law and be good moral ethical people, but God wants us to live Christ and have Christ living in us! Our natural man, the old I, is inclined to keep the law that it might be perfect (Phil. 3:6), but God wants us to live Christ so that He may be expressed in us! Therefore, the “I” needs to be crucified in Christ’s death and Christ live in us in His resurrection! Since Christ has come, the function of the law has been terminated – Christ must replace the law in all our life, for the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose! No longer I, but Christ living in me!
- Experiencing the indwelling Christ by having Christ being formed in us (Gal. 3:27). First, Christ is revealed in us – He is born in us, bringing the divine life into us. Then, we need to cooperate with the Lord to allow Christ to live in us in all our Christian life. Eventually and little by little, Christ will also be formed in us at our maturity(Gal. 4:19). We need to grow in Christ until we reach maturity until we are sons of full age – heirs to inherit God’s promised blessing, and mature in the divine sonship! Daily, as we allow Christ to live in us in more aspects of our life, giving Him more ground in our being in all our relationships, in the things we do, the things we say, etc – He is being formed in us. We begin to look like Christ more and more!
Praise the Lord for this wonderful indwelling Christ who is being revealed in us, living in us, and formed in us! We don’t just want to know these things or enjoy these things – we want to pray over these matters until the Lord makes them our experience.
May Christ be revealed in us, may Christ live in us, and may Christ be formed in us more today! [sharing inspired from the Life-study of Galatians (by brother W. Lee) as quoted in the Morning Revival on the Crucial Elements of the Bible]
Thank You Lord for coming into us to be our life and our everything. May it please God that even today Christ be revealed in us! We want to see the Lord more today – more of Christ! Also, Lord, no longer us but Christ! We want to allow Christ to live in us for the expression of God. Expose the law that we may see it as it is, just a child-conductor to Christ. Keep us enjoying this Christ until He lives in us and is being formed in us! Day by day, Lord, keep infusing us and transfusing us until Christ is formed in us!
