Did you listen to podcast #19 on AgeTurners.com? The title is “The way to do the work of an Evangelist(1)” – Doing business for the Lord, doing the work of an evangelist, turning the age, being overcomers–these tasks may seem difficult and intimidating.
However, the ministry of the age has revealed the practical way to accomplish these things, and that way may be easier than you think. In this podcast Brother Tom Goetz introduces the first two steps of this way. You can download this short podcast as mp3 here. Please find below some enjoyment from this podcast from sister Grace.
Romans 12:1-2 says:
I exhort you therefore brothers, through the compassions of our God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be fashioned according to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.
Also, Romans 12:11 says:
Do not be slothful in zeal, but be burning in spirit, serving the Lord.
There are four main steps we need to take in order to do the work of an evangelist. The way has been laid out for us – it is the trained way. This is the way we can become evangelists – this is the way to turn the age. We have been given the greatest opportunity. In this podcast, the brother introduced the first two steps of “The Way to Do the Work of an Evangelist”.
1. We need to be stirred up and we need to stir up our first love for the Lord through repenting prayers.
We are in the age of the overcomers. At the end of the church age, there is a call to the overcomers. The overcomers achieve success. The age-turners are the overcomers and it is their success. The way to be the overcomers is to overcome the loss of the first love to the Lord. The Lord is more precious than anything. We need to stir up our first love through repenting prayers. We need to be vitalized. We often go to other things, other sources, such as friends, music or the internet. We try to satisfy ourselves in them. We need to say to the Lord: “Lord, we love you first. You are the best. Lord, we really love You.” It is so easy. It’s not hard to love Him.
We just have to say in repenting prayers: “Lord, I’m so sorry. I love the world. Lord, save me, rescue me from this barren situation.” Also, we need to set aside some time everyday to just love Him. I really enjoyed that Brother Tom mentioned this hymn in the podcast:
Give yourself to love the Lord.
Do not care for anything else;
Just love Him! Do not care!
Give yourself to love the Lord!
We just have to give ourselves to love the Lord. Nothing else matters but Him. He is our first love.
2. We need to make a thorough confession to the Lord.
How many people have we brought to the Lord since we believed into Him? How many have come in through us? We have to admit that there is not many. Sadly, there may be no one that we have brought. This is a situation of barrenness. We are in danger of being cut off from the vine, cut off from our enjoyment of Christ.
Our lack of fruit and our concern for ourselves only causes us to lose the freshness, the sweetness and the enjoyment of Christ. We are the strong, young, vital ones. We should be the most vital, the most active and the most living. The young ones are always the ones that have the vitality. In the church life, it should be the same way.
We should not be old, dead or barren, and the church should not be suffering from our barrenness. There are three big enemies that we are dealing with today: the enemy of deadness, lukewarmness and barrenness. This is where we should begin our confession.
Every day we should call on the Lord and tell Him we love Him and every day we should confess our deadness, lukewarmness and barrenness.
