In the book of Danie we see the principle of the Lord’s recovery with Daniel and his companions who were overcomers absolutely one with God in their victory over Satan’s devices; they were victorious over the changing of their names and also over the demonic diet offered by the king.
Lord Jesus, make us like Daniel today. Make us Your overcoming saints. We want to pursue You, know You, enjoy You, and express You with our companions. Oh Lord, overcome in us. We want to take Daniel and his companions as our patterns in the Lord and overcome in this age for You to have a way to change this age! We give ourselves to You today, Lord, to overcome by being one with You in all things so that we may have the victory over Satan’s devices! Amen!
This week we come to the book of Daniel to see The Victory of the Overcomers Seen with Daniel and His companions.
We need to have a new beginning with the Lord day by day, even to consecrate ourselves to Him afresh to be closer to Him, to prepare His bride a little more today, and to be His overcomers so that we may bring Him back.
God wants to dispense Himself in His Divine Trinity into us to gain a corporate God-man for the fulfillment of His eternal economy.
We see this with Noah, Daniel, and Job; the Triune God wants to work Himself into us by dispensing Himself into us so that we may be filled with Him and express Him corporately on the earth.
We want to be the Lord’s overcoming saints on the line of life to fulfill the economy of God, even as Noah, Daniel and Job were in their days.
Noah, Daniel, and Job are patterns of living an overcoming life on the line of life to fulfill the economy of God. We want to be the Noahs, Daniels, and Jobs of today.
No matter how dark this age is, and we definitely live at the end of this age when it is darker than ever, God wants to gain some overcoming saints.
No matter how dark was the age in Noah’s time, but Noah found favour in the sight of Jehovah. No matter how dark and degraded the situation was in Danie’s time, but Daniel overcame.
He rejected the devilish diet and he overcome by being one with God in his victory over Satan’s devices. Similarly with Job, he touched God and saw God, and he overcame, being fully on the line of life.
May we live and work according to the vision of the age so that we may change the age today for the fulfillment of the eternal economy of God.
May we remain open to God’s dispensing so that we may experience Him, enjoy Him, and express Him for the fulfillment of His divine economy.
Daniel and His Companions were Overcomers Absolutely One with God in their Victory over Satan’s Devices
If we read the book of Daniel we will be impressed with Daniel and his companions, for they were overcomers absolutely one with God in their victory over Satan’s devices (Dan. 2:13, 17; cf. Rev. 17:14; Matt. 22:14).
The principle of the Lord’s recovery is seen with “Daniel and his companions”. Daniel had three companions – Hannaniah, Mishael, and Azariah, who were overcomers in their age, being absolutely one with God in their victory over the devices of the enemy.
In Daniel’s days it seemed that God had been defeated, for His people was defeated and brought into captivity, the temple was torn down, and there was no one who expressed God.
But Daniel and his companions were still overcoming where they were. Praise the Lord!
In the book of Daniel in the first six chapters we see the victory of these young descendants of God’s degraded elect over Satan’s devices.
Daniel and his companions were in captivity in Babylon, but they overcame
- the demonic diet (1:3-21),
- the devilish blinding that prevents people from seeing the great human image (the totality of human government throughout human history) in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream (ch. 2),
- the seduction of idol worship (ch. 3), the covering that hinders people from seeing the ruling of the heavens by the God of the heavens (ch. 4),
- the ignorance concerning the result of the debauchery before God and the insult to His holiness (ch. 5), and
- the subtlety that prohibited the faithfulness of the overcomers in the worship of God (ch. 6). Wow!
Satan attacked God’s people so much, and he had many devices, but Daniel and his companions overcame. This is the principle of the Lord’s recovery.
We need to live absolutely one with God in our daily living to overcome Satan and his devices, even to be victorious in the Lord!
In his devilish tempting of Daniel and his companions, Nebuchadnezzar changed their names, which indicated that they belonged to God, to names that made them one with idols (Dan. 1:6-7).
The most fundamental temptation and device of the enemy was to change their names; they changed their names showing that they belonged to God to names that made them one with Satan.
The name Daniel, meaning “God is my Judge,” was changed to Belteshazzar, meaning “the prince of Bel,” or “the favorite of Bel” (Isa. 46:1).
The name Hananiah, meaning “Jah has graciously given,” or “favored of Jah,” was changed to Shadrach, meaning “enlightened by the sun god.”
The name Mishael, meaning “Who is what God is?” was changed to Meshach, meaning “Who can be like the goddess Shach?” The name Azariah, meaning “Jah has helped,” was changed to Abed-nego, meaning “the faithful servant of the fire god Nego.”
Daniel and his companions were not only in captivity but the enemy wanted to change their names to make them one with the evil one and his idols. Oh Lord!
A name represents a person and an element; the most basic device of Satan is to change our names. But praise the Lord, in His recovery we have our names changed back.
As we live absolutely one with God to overcome Satan and his devices, our names are changed to things related to God and His economy.
We are given names by God to reflect what God is doing in us. He wants to inscribe on us the name of our God, the name of the city of our God, and the Lord’s new name; these names will be upon our forehead.
No matter how much Satan wants to change our name and make us one with him, our name remains the name that God gives us.
In chapter 5 of Daniel we see that, during the time of king Belteshazzar, Daniel’s name is Daniel, a man of the Most High. Hallelujah! We have to live one with the Lord to keep our name given by God, our God-man names!
Lord Jesus, we love You and we want to overcome one with You! Amen, Lord, make us absolutely one with You today to overcome any of Satan’s devices and schemes. Make us like Daniel and his companions today who were absolutely one with God in their victory over Satan’s devices. Oh Lord, we give ourselves to You to enjoy You, partake of Your riches, be in Your living word, and live one spirit with You! May we overcome any demonic diet and any blinding that prevents us from seeing what You are doing today, especially that You want to return, destroy human government, and bring in the kingdom! May we overcome any seduction of idol worship and anything that hinders us from seeing the rule of the God of the heaven! Amen, Lord, may we live one spirit with You today to be Your overcoming believers! May we not take the names that the enemy gives us to make us one with Him but live absolutely one with You to overcome Satan’s schemes and devices! Hallelujah for Christ, the overcoming One in us!
Being Overcomers over the Demonic Diet by Eating the Tree of Life to be One with God and Rejecting the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil
In Daniel chapter 1 we see that Daniel and his companions were selected to be among the few from the captives from Israel to be in the king’s house.
The king told the chief of his eunuchs to bring some of the sons of Israel, including some from the royal seed and from the nobility (Dan. 1:3-4).
Among these were the young overcomers whom God used to gain the victory over Satan’s devices – Daniel and his companions.
Satan probably thought that he defeated God, for the people of God were defeated and taken into captivity, and there was no longer any place on earth for God to gain worship.
God’s elect had been defeated, and God’s purpose on earth had suffered loss. But God was not disappointed nor was He defeated; He still had some overcomers – Daniel and his companions.
God was sovereign; He arranged for these dear young ones to be taken to Babylon, and there they overcame by being absolutely one with the Lord.
The first thing they overcame was related to eating. As soon as the king brought them into his house, he gave them his best food and clothing, even the food from the king’s table.
Such food was unclean, for it was offered to idols. Daniel, therefore, could not eat such food, for if him and his companions would eat it, they would be defiled.
Nebuchadnezzar’s devilish temptation was first to seduce the four brilliant young descendants of Gods defeated elect, Daniel and his three companions, to be defiled by partaking of his unclean food, food offered to idols.
The first temptation Satan brings our way is always related to eating.
This brings us back to Genesis 1-2 where we see that God was very concerned for man’s eating; God put man in the garden of Eden, and in the middle of the garden there was the tree of life, and there was also the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
God wanted man to eat of the tree of life by putting man in front of this tree, and He forbid man from eating of the tree of knowledge.
Now in Daniel 1 we see the same situation: Daniel and his friends were placed before two trees. If they partook of the choice food of the king, they would have eaten of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
To Daniel and his friends, that choice food was actually the wrong tree, and by eating of that food, they were attached to Satan and even became one with Satan.
Wow, what a view they had of the matter of diet! When we eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, we are attached to God and we are even one with God. But when we eat of the tree of life, we are attached to God and we are one with God!
Daniel and his companions refused to eat Nebuchadnezzar’s unclean food and instead chose to eat vegetables; in this way, they were actually rejecting the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and taking the tree of life.
Today we have the same choice. The world freely offers us so much food, even the choice food. The entertainment, the social media, the sports, the news, and so many aspects of this world which seem to be not evil but quite interesting, all these are “the king’s choice food.”
We as believers in Christ need to choose the tree of life (Rev. 2:7). We need to refuse to eat the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and eat of the tree of life.
The food this world has to offer is unclean and is offered to idols. Sometimes they may even call the more prominent singers, actors, or sports players as “stars” or “idols.”
There are idols in the world, and we don’t only eat the things this world offers us but even more, by eating these things we are associated with Satan, we are attached to Satan, and we are one with Satan for his purpose.
What a pernicious person he is, and how deceiving are his devices and schemes!
May we see that there is the tree of life in our spirit, in the word of God, and in the church life, and may we choose to be on the line of life today!
May we choose to eat not of the defiling food that Satan as the ruler of this world offers us but of the tree of life, of God in Christ as life, so that we may be attached to God and be one with God!
May the Lord make us like Daniel and his companions today, the overcomers who are absolutely one with God to overcome the demonic diet!
Amen, by eating the tree of life we can overcome the demonic diet and be one with the Lord in an absolute way to be His overcomers today!
Lord Jesus, we choose to be Your overcomers today! We choose to be Your overcoming saints, Daniel and his companions, in this age! Thank You, Lord that, even when it seems that Your people is in captivity and Your worship is cut off, You still have some people who overcome and express You! Hallelujah, God is never defeated: He always has some overcoming saints who find grace in His eyes and are absolutely one with Him to overcome in their age. Make us such ones today. Oh Lord, may we overcome the demonic diet in this world today. May we be victorious over the demonic diet offered to us freely by the ruler of this world. Lord Jesus, we choose to partake of the tree of life and we reject the tree of the knowledge of good and evil! Amen, Lord, we want to take You in as life and depend on You as life, and we reject the demonic diet offered by the ruler of this world! Hallelujah, when we eat the tree of life, we are attached to God and we become one with God! Amen, Lord, may we be absolutely one with God in this age to be His overcomers who end this age! Amen!
