Seeing the Divine Move of the Divine Trinity in the Conception and Baptism of Jesus

...The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore also the holy thing which is born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:35

It is so amazing to see the divine move of the Divine Trinity in the book of Matthew, especially in chs. 1 and 3 with the conception, birth, and baptism of Jesus!

If we see the controlling vision of the divine economy with the divine dispensing of the Divine Trinity, we will realize that the Divine Trinity is moving throughout the Bible and also in our experience, and we can participate by being filled with the Spirit and clothed with the Spirit to accomplish God’s purpose. Hallelujah!

The entire Bible was written and composed with a controlling vision, which is that the Triune God is working Himself into His people to be their life and life-supply in order to saturate their entire being with the Divine Trinity.

It was not only the Father or the Son or the Spirit that reached man; it was and it is the entire Triune God in His Divine Trinity that reaches man to work Himself into man.

God dwells in unapproachable light, and He is holy, righteous, and glorious; how can we, human beings, contact God or be filled with God?

It is only in God’s economy and based on His eternal purpose and heart’s desire; He wants to be contacted, received, and enjoyed by man, so He went through a process.

God the Father was incarnated in God the Son, God the Son did everything in and by God the Spirit and for the glory of God the Father, and in His resurrection, He became the life-giving Spirit.

Wow, now God is not only somewhere up the heavens for man to worship; He can be contacted, received, and enjoyed, for He is not just the Spirit but the life-giving Spirit – He constantly and continually gives life to all those who come to Him to contact Him.

The entire Bible shows that the Triune God desires to work Himself into His people; beginning with man being put in front of the tree of life (a type of God as life to get into man in the form of food) and ending with the New Jerusalem where we see the river of life and the tree of life, God’s desire is the same.

When we come to the word of God, we need to be governed by the vision of God’s economy, realizing that the Triune God is dispensing Himself in His Divine Trinity into man.

In Psa. 36:8-9 we see that even in the Old Testament the Father is the fountain of life, the Son is the fatness of God’s house, and the Spirit is the river of God’s pleasures.

In the Old Testament, there was no way for man to receive God as life, for Christ did not yet come, but they could enjoy the types and figures which pointed to God’s desire.

In the New Testament, we enjoy the reality of all that God is and has by exercising our spirit; in our spirit, we enjoy the Father as the fountain of life, the Son as the fatness of God’s house, and the Spirit as the river of God’s pleasures.

Hallelujah for our dear Triune God dispensing Himself in His Divine Trinity into man!

Seeing the Divine Move of the Divine Trinity in the Conception and Birth of Jesus

But while he pondered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife, for that which has been begotten in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for [it is] He [who] will save His people from their sins. Matt. 1:20-21Based upon the controlling vision in the Bible, which is the vision of the divine economy with the divine dispensing of the Divine Trinity, we can see the Divine Trinity in the divine move and also in our experience in the book of Matthew.

In particular, in Matt. 1 we see the Divine Trinity in the divine move in the conception and birth of the Lord Jesus, the first God-man, our King-Savior.

In Matt. 1 the Holy Spirit (vv. 18, 20), Christ (the Son—v. 18), and God (the Father—v. 23) are present for the producing of the man Jesus (v. 21), who, as Jehovah the Savior and God with us, is the very embodiment of the Triune God.

This is the first step that God took in becoming a man. Even in the conception and birth of Jesus, our Savior, we have the Holy Trinity moving in operation to bring this forth.

We see here the virgin Mary and Jesus the Son of God being conceived by the Spirit; His name is God with us, God the Father with us.

The whole Triune God is present there in the incarnation of Christ. Matt. 1:20-21 reveal the divine conception of the Holy Spirit and the birth of Jesus (the Son); then, verse 23 tells us that this One was called by men, Emmanuel, which means “God with us” (God the Father with us).

The fact that God the Father is with us was the issue of the divine conception of the Holy Spirit and the birth of Jesus, the Son (Luke 1:35).

It was not only the Son of God that was incarnated, and the Father was in heaven and the Spirit was waiting somewhere to be called upon; rather, it was the entire Divine Trinity that was actively involved in the incarnation of Jesus Christ.

God the Son was the One who was born, produced; God the Spirit was the divine essence which was mingled with the human essence; the result was that God the Father is with us, for Christ was called by man, Emmanuel. Hallelujah!

This is related to us in our Christian life; by receiving this One, we have a new birth, and we are born again – we are born of God.

When we call on the name of the Lord, we receive Him as our life and our everything, and He becomes our Savior and our very life.

Today we as believers in Christ have the entire Divine Trinity embodied in the Son and realized as the Spirit living in us to be our life, our element, and our everything.

When we call on His name, Lord Jesus, He comes in to save us of our sins, and He is Emmanuel, God with us.

We are not alone; the Father is with us, the Son is in us, and the Spirit is with our spirit.

We can simply enjoy this One; as we enjoy this wonderful Christ as the mingling of God with man, we enjoy the entire Triune God.

Every day we need to remain under His divine Dispensing, for all that He is, all He has done, and all He has accomplished is for us to enjoy.

Praise You, Lord Jesus, for coming as God becoming man so that the Triune God may have a way to dispense Himself in His Divine Trinity into man. Hallelujah, the man Jesus was the embodiment of the entire Triune God, for He was conceived by the Spirit and born to be the Son of God and Emmanuel, God with us! Hallelujah, we can call on the name of Jesus and be saved! Oh, Lord Jesus! We love to call on Your name and enjoy Your presence. We love to be under Your divine dispensing every day, receiving and enjoying all that You are, all You have done, and all You have accomplished! Amen, Lord, we are here to enjoy You and experience You in Your divine dispensing!

Seeing the Divine Move of the Divine Trinity in the Baptism of Jesus and Experiencing being Filled in Spirit and Clothed with the Spirit

And having been baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon Him. And behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have found My delight. Matt. 3:16-17In Matt. 3 we read concerning the baptism of the man Jesus; the Son of God, Jesus, was standing in the water of baptism, the Spirit like a dove descended upon the Son, and the Father spoke out of the heavens to the Son (vv. 16-17).

This is a picture of the reality happening behind the scene, which is the Divine Trinity in the divine move in the baptism of Jesus.

The Lord said that He had to be baptised by John the Baptist; He had to fulfill the Father’s righteousness by being terminated in His being and germinated and anointed to carry out God’s commission.

He came to fulfill God’s righteousness, and after He was baptised, He had three things waiting for Him: an open heaven, a descending dove, and the speaking of the Father.

Here we see the Divine Trinity moving and operating as one. The Lord Jesus was already born of the Spirit (luke 1:35), having the Spirit of God within Him essentially for His birth.

Then, for His ministry, thirty years after His birth, the Spirit of God descended upon Him economically to anoint and commission Him to fulfill God’s commission on earth (Isa. 61:1; 42:1; Psa. 45:7).

Essentially for His daily living, Christ had the Spirit as the essence of His being; now, economically, the Spirit of God came upon Him as a dove economically to anoint Him as the new King and introduce Him to His people.

The Lord’s being baptized to fulfill God’s righteousness and to be put into death and resurrection brought Him the open heavens, the descending Spirit of God, and the speaking of the Father (Matt. 3:16-17); it is the same with us today.

As long as we remain in the death of Christ and live in the reality of baptism, living in a situation where we deny our natural human life, we will be germinated, for we’re not only buried with Christ but raised with Him too to walk in newness of life.

Here, in such a reality of our baptism, we enjoy the open heavens, the descending Spirit of God, and the speaking of our Father God.

Today we as believers in Christ have the essential Spirit within us for our living; also, we have the poured out Spirit of power for our ministry, our work.

It is the same one Spirit but in two aspects, for us to accomplish God’s economy.

By the descending of the Spirit of God like a dove upon Him, the Lord Jesus ministered in gentleness and singleness (typified by the dove), focusing solely on the will of God.

The Spirit's descending was the anointing of Christ, whereas the Father's speaking was a testimony to Him as the beloved Son. This is a picture of the Divine Trinity: the Son rose up from the water, the Spirit descended upon the Son, and the Father spoke concerning the Son. This proves that the Father, the Son, and the Spirit exist simultaneously. This is for the accomplishing of God's economy. Matt. 3:17, footnote 1, Recovery Version BibleThe fact that the Spirit descended means that the Son was anointed with the Spirit, and the fact that the Father spoke and recommended the Son was a testimony to Him as the beloved Son.

This is what we see in Matt. 3 concerning the Divine Trinity in the divine move in the baptism of Jesus Christ; this is also real and practical to us in our daily experience.

We believers in Christ can participate in the divine move of the Divine Trinity today by participating in the Spirit, the processed and consummated Triune God.

As we drink the Spirit and are being clothed with the Spirit, we are one with the Triune God for His divine move.

When we are filled with the essential Spirit within and clothed with the Spirit of power without, we are supplied and equipped to live in and with the Divine Trinity, and we will minister with the Divine Trinity for the fulfillment of His purpose.

What we see in the book of Matthew is not only facts that happened many years ago but something that we can enjoy and participate in today.

We can exercise our spirit today to live in the reality of baptism, and we can participate in the divine move of the Divine Trinity by being filled with the Spirit within and clothed with the Spirit without so that we may live a life for the fulfillment of God’s purpose.

Hallelujah for the divine move of the Divine Trinity seen in the baptism of Christ, the first God-man! Amen, Lord, keep us in the reality of our baptism in our daily living. We want to live in a situation where we deny our natural life and put to death anything of the natural man so that we may be germinated and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life. Amen, Lord, fill us with the Spirit of life inwardly and clothe us with the Spirit of power outwardly for the fulfillment of God’s purpose. We want to enter into and cooperate with the divine move of the Divine Trinity by exercising our spirit to be filled with the Spirit and clothed with the Spirit so that we may minister with the Divine Trinity for the fulfillment of God’s purpose!

    – Christ indeed was born of Spirit / When He came a man to be; / And before His service started, / With the Spirit filled was He. / Yet He still received the baptism / Of the Spirit from on high / When He came to start His service / And was clothed with pow’r thereby. (Hymns #272)
    – Of the Spirit born in spirit, / As the sons of God indeed, / We possess the Holy Spirit, / Dwelling in us for all need. / Yet we still need more of Him, Lord, / That we may be full of Thee; / May Thou fill us with Thy Spirit, / Give us life abundantly. (Hymns #271)
    – Baptized in the Holy Spirit, / In the Spirit we’re immersed; / All the church is born of Spirit, / All religion is dispersed. / In the Spirit, in the Spirit— / Brothers, this is all we need. / Now the church must be in Spirit, / Not in teaching, form, or creed. (Hymns #1123)
