This week we are enjoying one item from the central line of the Bible – the Word of God. But what is most interesting is that the Word of God is not “something in itself” – the main thing about the Bible is that Christ is the Word of God!
We don’t come to the Word of God apart from Christ, and we don’t come to the Word of God to gain anything or see anything else but Christ!
In God’s economy Christ is the center, the Body is the line, and the New Jerusalem is the goal!
Everything in God’s economy is Christ, and Christ is the universal replacement for everything and everyone else in God’s eyes! So when we come to the word of God we see that Christ is the Word of God!
And the Word of God is for us to grow in life unto the building up of the Body!
The Word of God is for the building up of the Body of Christ: we are regenerated, fed, transformed, nourished, and even glorified by the Word of God so that we may be useful materials for the building up of the Body of Christ! Also, the goal of the Word of God is to prepare and bring in the New Jerusalem, which is the goal of God’s eternal economy!
This is the Central Line in the Divine Revelation – Christ is the center, the Body of Christ is the line, and the New Jerusalem is the goal!
Today we particularly enjoyed that Christ is the Word of life – God in Himself is life, but He is mysterious. No one has ever seen God; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him (John 1:18). In Christ was life, and this life was the light of men (John 1:4).
Christ as the Word of God conveys the eternal life and is the divine person of Christ as an account, a definition, and an expression of all that God is. Christ as the only begotten Son of the Father was, is, and always will be in the bosom of the Father – this dear only begotten Son of the Father is continually in the Father’s bosom to declare the Father!
The more Christ the Son as the Word of God speaks, the more the Father is declared, expressed, defined, and explained! Christ came to us as the Word of life – and this is mysteriously conveyed and explained somehow by the apostle John in 1 John 1:1-7, and especially in the first two verses,
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we beheld and our hands handled, concerning the Word of life(and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and report to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us).
When you read the above portion you will see how mysterious it is that God, who is the divine life, came to earth to be a man – and the people saw Him, touched Him, beheld Him, talked to Him, and have seen something of the Word of life in Him… and this is what those who see now testify of! In the beginning, was the Word-God and then at one point this Word became flesh – full of grace and reality!
If you want the divine life, it is contained and expressed in Christ as the word of life! The divine life was manifested in Christ as the Word of life – God was expressed in Him, and Christ spoke the word of life to men!
Today Christ still is the Word of life, ready to declare the Father and all that God is to us when we open to receive Him! Yes, God became a man and Christ had a substantial human nature – the divine life was manifested and was reported to us by those who have seen it!
Now we can see the divine life and we can receive the divine life by opening to the Lord and receiving Him as the Spirit into our spirit! A simple turn to Him and a sincere call on His name, O Lord Jesus! – brings the divine life into us!
[enjoyment from, The Central Line of the Bible (HWMR), with quotes from the life-study of 1 John by brother Witness Lee]
O Lord Jesus! We love You as the Word of life! You are the expression of the divine life of the Father! Lord, You are indeed the beloved Son in the bosom of the Father! You perfectly and wonderfully express all that God is in His divine life! Lord, we come to You as the Word of life to receive more life today! Thank You for becoming real to us as the Word of life – thank You for the divine life contained in the Word! We love You, Lord Jesus, living word of life!
