Christ Died for our Sins, the Righteous on Behalf of the Unrighteous, to Bring us to God

Thank You Lord Jesus for dying for my sins on the cross! As the reality of the trespass offering, Christ died for our sins – the Righteous on behalf of the unrighteous – so that He may bring us to God. Thank You Lord for dying for my sins!

We are sinners, we have the indwelling sin in our flesh, and whenever we live in the flesh or the natural man, all we do is sin. The Bible is clear that all men have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23).

We need to stand with the word of God and let the Lord’s light shine on us to realize that we are sinners, we sin, sin dwells in our nature, and even after being regenerated with God’s life, it is still so easy for us to sin.

And even if we don’t sin in a big way, like getting drunk or committing fornication, we commit trespasses, that is, we go beyond and pass over our right in place or action so that we cause harm to other people.

Whether we sin in a big or small way, whether our sins are seen or not seen, whether our trespasses our obvious or not obvious, and whether we are conscious of our sins or not, we sin, we trespass, and we need to take Christ as our trespass offering.

Christ died for our sins – He as the righteous One died on behalf of the unrighteous, so that He may open a new and living way for us to enter into God and enjoy God.

Christ came as the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world (John 1:29). He died on the cross as the Lamb of God to deal with sin in our nature and sins in our conduct. Christ died for our sins so that He may take away sin from the human race.

Through His death on the cross, Christ fulfilled the requirements of God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory. He as the Lamb of God was slain, and His perfect sacrifice on the cross was what satisfied and appeased the Father God, so that we may be redeemed and brought back to God.

God waited for thousands of years for Christ as the perfect sacrifice to come, and when Christ as the Lamb of God offered Himself up on the cross, God put on Him all the sins of the world, and He even made Him sin on our behalf.

As an offering for sin, Christ satisfied God, and as a sacrifice, He accomplished redemption for our sins.

And this was not something accidental or something “put together in the last-minute” by God to save us from sin. Rather, Christ as the redeeming Lamb was foreknown before the foundation of the world, that is, before the creation of the universe, but was manifested for our sake. Wow!

Christ was slain from the foundation or the world – God foreknew that man would fall, He foreknew Christ, and He foreordained Christ to be the Lamb of God; then, in time, Christ died for our sins. Hallelujah!

As the Reality of the Trespass Offering, Christ Died for our Sins on the Cross

1 Cor. 15:3 For I delivered to you, first of all, that which also I received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. The first thing that the gospel says is that Christ died for our sins (1 Cor. 15:3).

Christ’s death for our sins, His burial for our termination, and His resurrection for our germination with life – all of which were according to the prophecies of the Old Testament (see Isa. 53:5-8, 10-12; Psa. 22:14-18; Dan. 9:26; Isa. 53:9; Psa. 16:9-10; Hosea 6:2), are the basic items among the first things of the gospel.

The last of these items is the most vital in the gospel, for it is the positive aspect of the gospel in that it imparts life to us that we may obtain life and live Christ.

When we hear the gospel, we believe into the Lord, and we realise that it is us who should have died, but Christ died for our sins on the cross. The fact that Christ died for our sins means that He died a vicarious death – He died as our Substitute.

The wages of sin is death, but Christ came and died for our sins; He died on our behalf, so that we won’t die but believe into Him and draw near to God, enter into His presence, and enjoy God.

It is us who should have died, for we all have sinned and we are unable to satisfy the requirements of God’s holiness, righteousness, and glory. But Christ came and died in our stead – He died for our sins, so that we may be redeemed from sin and come to God to enjoy Him.

As our Savior, He represented us to die for our sins in order to accomplish redemption (Matt. 1:21; Luke 2:11; Acts 13:23; 1 Tim. 1:15; Titus 2:14). He is Jehovah our Savior, He came to save us from our sins, and He redeems us from sin to make us His people, His believers, the church.

He is the Savior of all the sinners. His name is salvation, and when we see what He did for us and believe into Him, we are saved and have eternal life. If we are to be those who live and walk under the crucifixion of Christ, we need a deeper understanding of Christ’s death.

He gave Himself to save us from all lawlessness, and through His death our sins are taken away. We love the Lord Jesus, our Saviour, we love to call on His name, and we just thank Him from all our heart for what He has done for us. We all can tell the Lord in a personal way,

Thank You Lord for dying for my sins on the cross. I should have died there, but You came and died for me. You are my Substitute, and You died a vicarious death on my behalf. Lord Jesus, You are my Savior. I believe into You, I love You, and I thank You for what You have accomplished for me on Calvary. Lord Jesus, I take You as my Substitute, I lay my hands on You, and I am saved from sin and sins. You are my trespass offering. I love You. I come forward to God based on Your sacrifice on the cross to just enjoy God!

Christ Suffered Once for Sins, the Righteous on behalf of the Unrighteous, to Bring us back to God

1 Pet. 3:18 For Christ also has suffered once for sins, the Righteous on behalf of the unrighteous, that He might bring you to God, on the one hand being put to death in the flesh, but on the other, made alive in the Spirit. As the reality of the trespass offering, Christ also has suffered once for sins, the Righteous on behalf of the unrighteous, so that He may bring us to God (see 1 Pet. 3:18).

Unlike the priests in the Old Testament who had to repeatedly and daily offer up sacrifices for sin, Christ suffered once for sin, and He offered Himself to God as a sacrifice for sin so that we may be brought back to God.

Once is all it took, and the Righteous One died on behalf of the unrighteous. Christ suffered for sins – He died for the acts we commit in our outward conduct (Heb. 9:28); He offered Himself to bear the sins of man.

Christ didn’t die as a martyr for a good cause but as a Substitute for us – Christ died for our sins, the Righteous on behalf of the unrighteous, and His death was for redemption, not for martyrdom.

Christ, the righteous One, was judged on behalf of us, the unrighteous; the righteous God judged the righteous Christ so that the barrier of sins would be removed, and we would be brought back to God. Because His death has removed all the barriers of sins and unrighteousness, we have a way to reach God.

Christ died for our sins – He bore up our sins on the cross so that our sins might be forgiven by God (1 Cor. 15:3; Heb. 9:28). Also, Christ became sin and took away the sin of the world so that the problem of our sin might be solved (2 Cor. 5:21; John 1:29; Heb. 9:26).

He died as our Substitute; He bore our sins, and the righteous God judged Christ on our behalf according to His righteousness, so that the barrier of sins and unrighteousness may be removed. This was to redeem us from our sins back to God and from our unrighteous manner of life back to the righteous God.

Now there’s no more barrier between us and God: by believing into Christ, repenting of our sins, and confessing our sins, the barrier of sins and unrighteousness has been removed.

There is now a new and living way opened into God, and we as redeemed sinners have direct access to God. Once we were fare away from Him, but we are now brought back to God.

Christ paid the price – Christ died for our sins, the Righteous on behalf of the unrighteous, and we have access to God to enjoy God and partake of God based on the sacrifice of Christ on the cross.

Lord Jesus, thank You for suffering once for sins, the Righteous on behalf of the unrighteous, that You might bring us to God. Thank You for dying for our redemption on the cross so that we may be brought to God. Hallelujah, all the barriers between us and God are removed, for the sacrifice of Christ has removed all sins and unrighteousness! We can now come forward to God, have access to God, and enjoy God! Thank You Lord Jesus for dying for us on the cross to bring us back to God!

Christ Bore up our Sins in His Body and Suffered the Judgment for us on the Cross

Isaiah 53:5-6 But He was wounded because of our transgressions; He was crushed because of our iniquities; The chastening for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we have been healed. We all like sheep have gone astray; Each of us has turned to his own way, And Jehovah has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him.As the reality of the trespass offering, Christ bore up our sins in His body on the tree, in order that we – having died to sins – might live to righteousness (1 Pet. 2:24).

According to Isa. 53:6, when Christ was on the cross, God took all our sins and put them upon Him as the Lamb of God. Christ has been offered once to bear the sins of many (Heb. 9:28), and He died once to bear our sins, suffering the judgment for us on the cross (Isa. 53:5, 11).

He died on the cross for us, suffering the fire of God’s judgment, so that we may live to righteousness. We all were like sheep, going astray, each of us turning to his own way, but Jehovah has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him (Isa. 53:6).

He was wounded because of our transgressions, He was crushed because of our iniquities, and by believing into Him – by His stripes, we are healed (Isa. 53:5, 11). When Christ carried up our sins onto the cross and died, He terminated us, and this termination can keep us from sin.

When we experience Christ in His death, we are kept away from sin so that we might live to righteousness. Christ’s death has drawn a separating line between us and sins, and now through His death we are being kept away from sins.

Thank You Lord Jesus for bearing our sins in Your body on the cross. You suffered God’s judgment on our behalf on the cross, and You were crushed for our iniquities, bearing the burden of our sins. Thank You for being wounded because of our transgressions and for bearing all our iniquities. You are our trespass offering. Your death has drawn a separating line between us and sins. We love You, Lord, and we want to experience You to be saved from sin and be kept away from sins!

Hi brother, I enjoyed this morning this verse from Heb 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

Hebrews 9 elaborates on how the sacrifices were unable to perfect our conscience (v9) and Hebrews 10 talks about how the law came short of perfecting behaviour by purifying people from sin (10:1-2 also 7:18-19). But praise the Lord for such a divinely human Sacrifice…and such a High Priest! Now we can approach God with a clear conscience and with boldness. What a blessing!

Rom. 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall by no means account sin.

Praise the Lord that as the reality of the trespass offering Christ died for our sins, the righteous on behalf of us the unrighteous. He died in the flesh but was made alive in the spirit, in order to bring us to God. Through incarnation Christ brought God to man, through death and resurrection He brings man to God!

On the cross Christ bore our sins. According to Isaiah 53:6, when Christ was on the cross, God took all our sins and put them upon this Lamb of God. Hebrews 9:28 says that Christ has been “offered once to bear the sins of many.” Christ died once to bear our sins, and He suffered the judgment for us on the cross (Isa. 53:5, 11).

First Peter 2:24 tells us that Christ “bore up our sins in His body on the tree, in order that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness.” The tree in this verse denotes the cross made of wood, a Roman instrument of capital punishment for the execution of malefactors, as prophesied in the Old Testament (Deut. 21:23; Gal. 3:13).

Literally, in 1 Peter 2:24 “having died to sins” means “being away from” sins; hence, “having died to” them.

When Christ carried up our sins onto the cross and died, that death accomplished many things. The death of Christ terminated us, and this termination can keep us away from sin. Through Christ’s death we can be kept away from sins so that we may live to righteousness.

Christ’s death has drawn a separating line between us and sins. Now through His death we are being kept away from sins. (The Conclusion of the New Testament, pp. 764-765, by Witness Lee)
