The Blood of the Covenant brings us into the Enjoyment of God as our Cup of Blessing

And similarly the cup after they had dined, saying, This cup is the new covenant [established] in My blood, which is being poured out for you. Luke 22:20

Thank the Lord for instituting the Lord’s Table for us to enjoy until He comes; we eat Him as the bread of life, His body broken for us, and we drink the cup of the covenant, His blood shed for us, so that we may partake of God as our portion. Hallelujah!

May the Lord have a way to uplift our appreciation of Him and our enjoyment of Him at the Lord’s Table meeting week after week!

The Lord’s Table is not merely a routine, a meeting where we have to call and sing certain hymns, then we need to partake of the bread and the cup, and then sing some more hymns.

May the Lord deliver us from any routine church life. May we come to the Lord day by day to enjoy Him as our spiritual food and our spiritual drink so that we may have an overflow of the enjoyment of Christ at His Table on the Lord’s Day!

Christ is our spiritual food day by day. Every morning, we believers in Christ wake up a little earlier to gather the manna, that is, to enjoy Christ as our unique heavenly food.

Though we may struggle with waking up in the morning, we all are learning to contact the Lord early in the morning by calling on His name and pray-reading His word so that we may eat Him and drink Him. We need the Lord as our daily food supply.

We need Him as the spiritual food that nourishes us and the spiritual drink flowing out of the cleft rock to quench our thirst! How encouraging it is to know that Christ is the rock that follows us to give us to drink the living water whenever we need it!

May we not remain thirsty in our Christian life, thus having all kinds of problems with God and with man; may we come to the Lord and ask Him to give us a drink!

We may think that the Lord gave us the living water yesterday, so we don’t need this living water today; even more, we may think that we shouldn’t bother the Lord again and again to give us to drink.

However, according to the Lord’s own words, He wants to be bothered by us. He wants us to ask Him to give us the good things, the Holy Spirit as the flowing water of life.

If we daily enjoy the Lord by eating Him and drinking Him, at the Lord’s Table on the Lord’s day, we will exercise our spirit and be in spirit, and we will have something of Christ to overflow to others also!

There will be much praising and worshipping, for there’s much of Christ that has been constituted and wrought into us throughout the week.

May we practice this day by day; may we practice eating Him as the bread of life and drinking the Spirit as the living water flowing from the smitten rock.

The Precious Blood of Christ Brings us into the Enjoyment of God with Many Blessings

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the fellowship of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the fellowship of the body of Christ? 1 Cor. 10:16

How we thank and praise the Lord Jesus for shedding His precious blood for us on the cross! By shedding His blood for us, we are redeemed.

We were lost in the world, sinful, far away from God, alienated from the life of God, enemies of God, and dead in sin, but the Lord Jesus came and died for us on the cross. His blood was shed for our sins, and by faith in Him, our sins are forgiven and washed away (1 John 1:9).

When we believe into the Lord Jesus and apply His precious blood, we are cleansed and washed from our sins. Praise the Lord!

Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have right to the tree of life and may enter by the gates into the city. Rev. 22:14 ...These are those who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Rev. 7:14Furthermore, the precious blood of Christ has opened the way for us to eat Him as the tree of life. Gen. 3:24 tells us that God placed a cherubim with a flaming sword at the east of the garden of Eden to guard the tree of life. The way to the tree of life has been closed due to man’s fall in sin.

But praise the Lord, Rev. 22:14 tells us, Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter by the gates into the city. Wow, Hallelujah!

The blood of Christ opened the way for us to come forward to God and enjoy Christ as the tree of life. We may have sinned and we may have many failures and mistakes, but when we repent and apply the blood of Christ, we have the right to enjoy Christ as the tree of life.

On the one hand, we will enjoy the tree of life for eternity, for this tree is growing alongside the river of water of life in the New Jerusalem, bearing new fruits each month.

On the other hand, we can have a share in the enjoyment of the tree of life today, for through the blood of Christ, we may partake of God in Christ as our life.

The blood of Jesus Christ also leads us to drink Him as the waters of life. In John 7:37 the Lord Jesus said that whoever is thirsty can come to Him and drink, and whoever drinks of Him, rivers of living waters will flow out of his innermost being.

Rev. 7:14 also tells us that we who wash our robes and make them white in the blood of the Lamb are guided by the Lamb to springs of waters of life (v. 17).

By faith in Christ and by applying the Lord’s precious blood, we can come to God and drink the rivhers of waters of life.

For eternity, we shall enjoy the living water through the blood of Christ, and today we are led to springs of waters of life by applying the Lord’s precious blood.

The enemy accuses us day by day, even after we confess our sins in the Lord’s light, that we are not worthy and that we should look at our problems, mistakes, sins, failures, and shortcomings.

We need to turn to the enemy and stand one with the Lord, based on His word, and overcome him by the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 12:11). The accuser will do his job to constantly accuse us, but we can apply the blood of Christ and prevail over him. Hallelujah!

May we know the power of the blood of Christ and apply this precious blood to our experience day by day.

Having therefore, brothers, boldness for entering the [Holy] [of] Holies in the blood of Jesus, Which [entrance] He initiated for us as a new and living way through the veil, that is, His flesh. Heb. 10:19-20Heb. 10:19-20 tells us that we have boldness to enter the Holy of Holies in the blood of Jesus, which entrance He initiated for us in a new and living way through the veil, that is, His flesh. Hallelujah!

Christ has done everything. He opened the way to the tree of life through His blood, and He even initiated a new and living way for us to enter into the Holy of Holies.

Now we need to have the boldness to enter the Holy of Holies in the blood of Jesus. His blood opened the way for us to come into the Holy of Holies to enjoy God and live in His presence.

May we come to the Lord daily, based on the precious blood of Christ, to enjoy Him, partake of Him, and remain in His presence to be infused with Him.

May we learn the power of the blood of Christ, may we experience the efficacy of the blood of Christ, and may we apply the blood of Christ to enter into the enjoyment of God and partake of all His riches.

In ourselves we are not worthy, and if we look at our condition and our situation, we will be disappointed.

But we need to look to the blood of Christ, apply the blood of Christ, enjoy the effectiveness of this precious blood, and come forward to God to enjoy Him!

The Lord’s blood opened the way, and now we can come forward to enjoy God with all His blessings!

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your precious blood. Thank You for shedding Your blood on the cross to redeem us. We believe into You and we apply Your precious blood today. Hallelujah, we can wash our robes in the blood of the Lamb and we can come forward to enjoy Christ as the tree of life! Amen, Lord, we do not look at our past, our condition, or our failures; we look at the blood of Christ and we apply this blood today! May our robes be washed and made white in the blood of the Lamb so that we may have the right to eat the tree of life and be guided to springs of waters of life. We come forward to You, dear Lord, based on Your precious blood. In ourselves we are not worthy, but Your blood washes us, cleanses us, and qualifies us. We have boldness in the blood of Jesus to enter the Holy of Holies to partake of all that God is! Hallelujah for the blood of Christ!

The Blood of Christ has become the Blood of the Covenant to be our Cup of Blessing

Similarly also the cup after they had dined, saying, This cup is the new covenant [established] in My blood; this do, as often as you drink [it,] unto the remembrance of Me. 1 Cor. 11:25The New Testament shows us clearly that we can enjoy God with all that He is, based on the blood of Christ shed for us on the cross.

However, we need to realize that the Lord’s blood is not only for our forgiveness, redemption, and salvation; even more, the blood of Christ has become the blood of the covenant to be our cup of blessing for us to drink. Wow!

In 1 Cor. 11:25 Paul reminds us of the Lord’s supper, when He took the cup and said to the disciples, This cup is the new covenant established in My blood; this do, as often as you drink it, unto the remembrance of Me.

The Lord Jesus shed His blood for our redemption and for us to have a way to enter into the enjoyment of God. This blood of Christ shed on the cross has become the blood of the covenant, even the cup of blessing which we can drink today. Hallelujah!

The cup denotes the blessing, which is God Himself as our portion (Psa. 16:5). The Lord’s salvation has become our portion, the cup of salvation that runs over, the content of which is God as our all-inclusive blessing (Psa. 116:13; 23:5).

God doesn’t just want to redeem us, wash us, and bring us in the right position for us to be cleansed and purified before Him. He wants to become our portion.

God wants to be enjoyed by us. For this, He made a new covenant, which He enacted with His own blood, the blood of Jesus Christ.

This new covenant is full of blessing; it was established by the Lord’s blood, which was shed for us on the cross for our redemption.

We can now take the cup of blessing at the Lord’s Table and remember the Lord by eating Him and drinking Him, for His blood was shed for us to become the blood of the covenant, and now we can partake of all that He is!

According to Luke 22:20, the cup of blessing – the blood of the covenant – is the new covenant or the title deed which was enacted by the blood of Christ and it testifies of the portion we receive from God.

Thank the Lord that the blood of Christ has instituted a new covenant, a better covenant (Heb. 8:6-13). The new covenant became the new testament after the Lord’s resurrection (9:16-17).

Now we can enjoy the Lord’s salvation simply by taking the cup of blessing and drinking the Lord Jesus as our blessing! Hallelujah!

May we be enlightened by the Lord to see that the blood Christ shed for us on the cross has become a covenant, and this covenant has become a cup, a portion, which is God Himself as our blessing for our enjoyment.

Now we can enjoy God by taking the cup of blessing. Christ took the cup of God’s wrath on the cross so that He may enact the new covenant in His blood and give us the cup of blessing for us to enjoy and partake of all that God is for our enjoyment. Praise the Lord!

And similarly the cup after they had dined, saying, This cup is the new covenant [established] in My blood, which is being poured out for you. Luke 22:20In this cup we have everything we need, for God gives us forgiveness, life, salvation, joy, peace, and all the spiritual, heavenly, and divine blessings.

On the negative side, we apply the blood of Christ to be cleansed and washed. On the positive side, we take the cup of blessing day by day, for the Lord shed His blood to enact the new covenant and be our enjoyment!

The blood of the covenant is not mainly for us to be forgiven of our sins; it is for God to become our portion. God wants us to enjoy Him, and He ordained us to enjoy Him as our portion.

The Lord Jesus said in Matt. 26:28 that this is His blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Luke 22:20 also says that this cup is the new covenant established in the Lord’s blood.

And in 1 Cor. 10:16 Paul says that this is the cup of blessing.

May we remember the Lord at the Lord’s table by exercising our spirit to take the cup of blessing and drink it, thus partaking of all that God is! God Himself has become our portion for our enjoyment!

Lord Jesus, thank You for the blood of the covenant which enacted the new covenant and became a cup of blessing for us to enjoy today! Hallelujah, God wants to be enjoyed by us, and Christ shed His blood on the cross for us to be qualified to enter into this enjoyment! Thank You, Lord Jesus, for becoming our portion, even the cup of salvation that runs over! We exercise our spirit today to drink the cup of blessing by calling on the name of the Lord! Hallelujah, God has become our all-inclusive blessing in the cup of salvation! Amen, Lord Jesus, we come forward to God based on the Lord’s precious blood shed for us on the cross. We come to enjoy You and partake of You. We take the cup of blessing and we enjoy You as our all-inclusive blessing. How we thank and praise You, dear Lord, for becoming our portion for our enjoyment! Hallelujah, at the Lord’s Table we can take the cup of blessing and enjoy God as our portion!

This cup is the new covenant, comprising all the rich blessings of the New Testament, including God Himself. The new covenant, a covenant of full blessing, was established by the Lord’s blood, which He shed on the cross for our redemption. According to Luke 22:20, the cup is the new covenant or title deed which was enacted by the blood of Christ and testifies of the portion we receive from God. The blood of Christ instituted a new covenant, a better covenant (Heb. 8:6-13), which became the new testament after His resurrection (9:16-17). The blood Christ shed on the cross has become a covenant, and this covenant has become a cup, a portion, which is God Himself as a blessing for our enjoyment. In this covenant God gives us forgiveness, life, salvation, and all spiritual, heavenly, and divine blessings.

The Lord’s blood redeemed us from our fallen condition back to God and back to God’s full blessing. Concerning the Lord’s table (1 Cor. 10:21), the bread signifies our participation in life, and the cup, our enjoyment of God’s blessing. Hence, the cup is called “the cup of blessing” (1 Cor. 10:16). In it are all the blessings of God and even God Himself as our portion (Psa. 16:5). In Adam our portion was the cup of God’s wrath (Rev. 14:10). Christ drank that cup for us (John 18:11), and His blood constitutes the cup of salvation for us (Psa. 116:13), the cup that runs over (Psa. 23:5). By partaking of this cup we have the fellowship of the blood of Christ (1 Cor. 10:16).

Christ shed His blood on the cross for our redemption, and by faith in His blood we are saved, we have entrance in the Holy of Holies, we are qualified to eat Him as the tree of life, and we are led to waters of life.

Even more, His blood is the blood of the covenant which has become a cup of blessing, and now God is our portion.

Amen, Lord, we apply Your blood today. We take the cup of blessing and call on the name of the Lord. Hallelujah, God is now our portion!

Yes indeed, we are brought back to our original place by His precious blood.

The price for our redemption has been paid. The righteous God judged us through the death of Jesus Christ for our judicial redemption.

The cup is therefore our portion in His house.

In general, the blood of Jesus Christ:

  • opens the way for us to come into the Holy of Holies
  • leads us to the waters of life
  • Cleansing us from all sins
  • brings us into all the divine blessings
  • Is for the forgiveness of sins
