According to Heb. 7 and Rom. 8, Christ is interceding for us at the right hand of God and the Spirit is interceding for us in our spirit, with the goal that we may be saved to the uttermost, that is, that we may be glorified and be like Christ.
Christ died for us, He was resurrected, and now He is in the heavens at the right hand of God, interceding for us. He is now in ascension, at the right hand of God, being given by God the preeminence, the first place of honor.
God ascended and put Christ in the first and highest place of honor – our Christ today is in the highest heaven, holding the highest position at God’s right hand! And as such a One, He is our High Priest, interceding for us.
In God’s eyes, when Christ was resurrected, we were resurrected with Him; we were all regenerated at the same time, at the time of Christ’s resurrection from the dead (1 Pet. 1:3).
We may not be able to comprehend this with our limited human mind, but in God’s eyes and according to the Bible, we all were raised together with Christ, we all were regenerated at the time of His resurrection, and we all received the divine life when Christ resurrected. Hallelujah!
Through His death He took care of all the negative things in the universe, and in His resurrection He became a life-giving Spirit to impart Himself as life into us and make us His brothers, the members of His Body, and sons of God.
In His resurrection Christ imparted Himself into us as life, and then in His ascension He entered into perfection, into glory; now He is at the right hand of God, at the highest place of honor in the universe, interceding for us.
He is interceding for us not to merely “make it through the day” or get a better car, have a good family life, thrive in our career, have a peaceful Christian life, and be prosperous in what we are and do; He intercedes for us that we may brought into His perfection, into His glory.
Christ is interceding for us that we may be glorified and saved to the uttermost, so that we may be God’s corporate expression in humanity, His glorious manifestation on the earth.
Christ is Interceding for us at the Right Hand of God and the Spirit is Interceding for us in our Spirit
In the book of Hebrews we see that our ever-living Christ as our High Priest is interceding for us in the heavens, and in Romans 8 we see that He is also the Spirit interceding for us in our spirit.
On the one hand He is the heavens interceding for us before God, at the right hand of God; on the other hand, He is the Spirit in our spirit, interceding for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Are these two different intercessions? No, they are the same intercession: it is the same Lord Spirit who intercedes for us at two ends – at one end He’s the Spirit in us (probably initiating the intercession for us), and at the other end He’s the Lord Christ at the right hand of God (probably completing the intercession for us).
Since Christ is God, why does He need to intercede, and what is He interceding for? As God, He has no need to intercede, but as a Man He intercedes; as the Head of the Body, He is interceding for each of the members of His Body.
What is Christ interceding for? He is not interceding merely that objectively God would give us something or do something for us; the goal of His intercession in the heavens is to stir up the intercession in our spirit, so that we would respond to that intercession.
The heavenly intercession of Christ needs a response from us in our spirit. While Christ is interceding for us in the heavens, He as the Spirit is interceding in our spirit, and this is the same intercession.
His intercession in the heavens is to motivate our spirit and cause our spirit to respond and join His intercession. This is very deep and profound.
On the one hand Christ today is at the right hand of God in the heavens interceding for us (Rom. 8:34); on the other hand, He is in us, in our spirit, interceding for us and joining us in our prayer (2 Tim. 4:22).
He knows our case and situation; Christ intercedes for us according to God, for the fulfillment of God’s purpose. He intercedes for us to be glorified and brought into Christ’s perfection, so that we may be one with Christ for God’s corporate expression on earth in glory.
The goal of Christ’s intercession for us in the heavens and the Spirit’s intercession for us in our spirit is that we would be saved to the uttermost (as seen in Heb. 7:25-26), that is, be glorified (as seen in Rom. 8:34, 26-27).
How thankful we are to the Lord that, as our ascended Head, He is interceding for us before God in the heavens, and He is able to save us to the uttermost! How grateful we are to Him that, as the Spirit with our spirit, He intercedes for us with groanings which cannot be uttered, so that we may be glorified as sons of God!
Thank You Lord for being our ascended Head at the right hand of God interceding for us that we may be saved to the uttermost. Thank You for being the Spirit interceding in our spirit that we may be glorified as sons of God. Cause us to set our mind on the things which are above and be one with You in Your heavenly ministry. Lord, we want to respond to Your intercession in the heavens by being one with the Spirit’s intercession in our spirit. May our spirit be stirred up by Your intercession in the heavens and start to pray in oneness with the Spirit’s intercession in our spirit.
Christ is Interceding for us to be Glorified, be Saved to the Uttermost, and Overcome
What is Christ interceding for us in the heavens? Many pastors and Christian speakers have used the verses in Heb. 7:25-26 and Rom. 8:34 to comfort those who have lost someone or are going through suffering, telling them that Christ intercedes for them and for their loved ones.
But is this all He is interceding for? Some believers think that Christ intercedes for them to have a better material situation, a pay rise, a house, get rid of debt, be freed from suffering, get rid of a sickness, be freed from sin, etc. What is Christ interceding for right now?
According to Rom. 8 and Heb. 7, Christ is interceding for our glorification, that is, for us to be saved to the uttermost. Heb. 7 speaks of Him saving us to the uttermost, and Rom. 8 speaks of being glorified. Our being saved to the uttermost is our being glorified, and this is the goal of His intercession.
As the consummated and ascended God-man, Christ is the Head of the Body interceding for us that we could overcome any opposition and all kinds of circumstances.
He intercedes that we would be kept in union with Him in His unconditional love, so that we may be conformed to His image as the firstborn Son of God, and thus become His reproduction for the constitution of Christ’s Body (see Rom. 8:29, 34-39; 12:4-5).
Christ is interceding for us not necessarily to have a good house, a good job, a good wife, etc but for our perfection by being conformed to the image of His Son. This requires a lot of processes and undergoing, so He intercedes for us. His unconditional love enables us to conquer all the perils and troubles.
God doesn’t spare us from suffering, trials, and troubles; He allows them to come to us, but in all these things we more than conquer through Him who loved us.
As we pass through difficulties, tribulations, trials, and hard situations, Christ is interceding for us; He loves us, and He enables us to overcome all these circumstances so that we may be conformed to the image of the Firstborn Son of God.
Hallelujah, Christ is interceding for us that we may brought on to perfection, that is, glorification, to become the reproduction of the glorious God-man Jesus for the constitution of the corporate and organic Body of Christ!
As the pneumatic Christ – Christ as the Spirit – He intercedes for us by being within us in the heavenlies, in our spirit; as the ascended Lord, Christ is interceding for us in the heavens. He intercedes for us at all time, both in the heavens and in our spirit, so that we may overcome, be saved to the uttermost, and be glorified.
We need to realize that, since God is for us, nothing can defeat us; rather, both good and not-so-good things that happen to us – they all work together for good, to make us the Lord’s overcomers, His saved-to-the-uttermost ones, the glorified sons of God!
Thank You Lord for being the Head of the Body interceding for us that we may overcome opposition and be kept in union with You in Your unconditional love so that we may be conformed to the image of Christ! Thank You for interceding for us to be saved to the uttermost, that is, to be glorified and made the same as Christ in His glorious image for God’s corporate expression! Hallelujah, if God is for us, who can be against us? Everything works out for good to us, so that we may overcome, be conformed to Christ’s glorious image, and be saved to the uttermost!

# Savior, hail! enthroned in glory, / Where for us Thou dost abide; / We, by faith, do now adore Thee, / Seated at Thy Father’s side. / There, for us Thou now art pleading, / There Thou dost our sorrows share, / Ever for us interceding, / Till in glory we appear. (Hymns #114)
# What He is of God and of Man as the Son, / We now may enjoy since with Him we are one; / Our High Priest and Captain—salvation is He! / He’ll cause us to grow in His glory to be. (Hymns #1129)
# Every day, may I rest, knowing that each bequest, / Matches my daily need exactly; / Jesus Christ intercedes for me, / A member of His body. / Lord, grant me a heavenly, corporate view; / That all of my growth and prayers to You, / Little by little, day by day, / Would cause building up into You. (Song on Christ’s praying for us)
He, as the ascended Lord of all, as the consummated and ascended God-man and as the Head of the Body, intercedes at the right hand of God in the heavens for us that we, His many brothers and members, who are the many God-men, could overcome the oppositions and any kind of circumstances and be kept in union with Him in His unconditional love, so that we may be conformed to the image of Him, the firstborn Son of God, as the prototype, to be His consummated mass reproduction for the constitution of His corporate and organic Body (Rom. 8:29-39). Christ has different statuses. In the status of the pneumatic Christ, He intercedes within us in the heavenlies. In the status of the ascended Lord, He is interceding for us in the heavens, not in the heavenlies. He intercedes for us so that we may overcome everything in our surroundings. If God is for us, who can defeat us? According to Romans 8:29-39, nothing can defeat us, and we can overcome. (Crystallization-study of the Epistle to the Romans, pp. 25-26, by Witness Lee)
Amen!!!
Hallelujah!
Thank You Lord for Your interceding to keep us in union with You.
