12 Ways to Engage in the Spiritual Warfare and Bring in God’s Kingdom

When there is a group of people in the church who are willing to allow Christ's authority to flow among them, this will bring Christ's kingdom to the earth.

When there is a group of people in the church who are willing to allow Christ’s authority to flow among them, this will bring Christ’s kingdom to the earth.

Because there’s a spiritual warfare going between God’s kingdom and Satan’s kingdom, and because we are on God’s side as His people, everything we do for God is in the nature of a warfare.

Preaching the gospel is actually delivering people from the authority of darkness (Acts 26:18). The purpose of the spiritual warfare and the purpose of any work we do for God is to bring in the kingdom of God.

Our baptism is a transfer out of the kingdom of Satan into the kingdom of the Son of God’s love (Col. 1:13). As long as we touch anything in the spiritual realm, we are touching the spiritual warfare.

Satan’s Strategy in the Spiritual Warfare

Satan’s work in this warfare is made clear in Rev. 12 – once he’s cast down on earth he will do a war with the saints.

Satan’s sole job is to fight against the saints of God! He does that day and night! He’s busy to deceive the world, to damage mankind, even to destroy man by sin, death, and all kinds of evil stratagems and devices.

He implanted his nature in the human body with its lust with passions, he is fortifying the fallen mind with its thoughts and strongholds, with all kinds of philosophies and isms, and he keeps the human spirit deadened and unexercised.

Satan’s work towards the saints is to torment and wear out the saints’ tripartite being, to shoot flaming darts in their mind, to buffet their body, and to oppress their spirit.

12 Ways to Engage in the Spiritual Warfare

Whether we like it or not, we don’t have a choice – we need to engage in the spiritual warfare going on in the universe. Below are twelve ways in which we engage in the spiritual warfare (list compiled and shared by bro. Minoru Chen).

  1. We must be those who are in full obedience to God, those under His ruling. No person that has a bit of rebellion in him can fight because he’s already in the enemy’s territory. We must be those who reign in life, who have Christ as the preeminent One in our being, and live under the throne of God.
  2. We need to be those who believe in the facts as shown in the word of God – we need to know the victory of Christ on the cross! We declare Christ’s victory, because it is the basis of this warfare. We are here not to fight but to maintain the victory, to keep Satan chained.
  3. We must be properly positioned in the heavenlies with the ascended Christ. We will not pray and fight from the earth – we are positioned to be in Christ in the heavenlies to tread over all the principalities and powers of darkness!
  4. We refuse to fight an individualistic way – we declare we are in the Body of Christ. The warfare is corporate, and the warrior in Eph. 6 is a corporate one, it is an army. Don’t try to fight Satan alone. Fight as a member in the Body.
  5. Be empowered in the Lord! Be strong, don’t be weak! These are not days to be weak; we need to empower ourselves! The strong One is in us!
  6. Put on the whole armor of God (Eph. 6:11-17). All the aspects of Christ, put them on every time you pray. Leave no part unguarded.
  7. We need to fight by standing. To stand means to withstand, to stand against, to resist, to keep the position of victory. It takes strength to stand. We will be unmovable in this warfare!
  8. Take the sword of the Spirit, our offensive weapon! This is the Word of God. We need to take the word, the operative word as the Spirit in this war! Don’t do something by yourself – the Word and the Spirit must accompany our prayer!
  9. Pray in the spirit! Don’t pray in your flesh, your soul, your self, or in your zeal. Pray in the Spirit – that’s what it is to pray in the name of Jesus. The Spirit is our authority and that Name is our power!
  10. Don’t forget to claim the blood of the Lamb – that’s how we overcome Satan.
  11. Don’t forget to declare the word of the testimony. We are strong young men because the word of God abides in us.
  12. Fight not caring for your life, for your soul life. Satan wants to put anxiety and fear in you to scare you with a host of things, but we overcome him by not loving our soul life even unto death.
