The Rainbow around God’s Throne Signifies that Christ Became Wisdom to us from God

Ezekiel 1:28 Like the appearance of the rainbow that is in the cloud on a day of rain, such was the appearance of the brightness all around. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and I heard the voice of someone speaking.

Through the church God’s multifarious wisdom is being manifested and displayed to the enemy and to the whole universe, and for this Christ became wisdom to us from God, both righteousness and sanctification and redemption (1 Cor. 1:30).

It is a fact that all the believers in Christ can enjoy the continual transmission of Christ as the wisdom of God as their righteousness, sanctification, and redemption for their organic salvation so that they would be regenerated, transformed, and glorified for God to have a corporate expression in the church.

And this is seen in the rainbow around God’s throne in Ezek. 1:26-28 and Rev. 4:3. The rainbow colors are primarily blue, red, and yellow, which are also mixed to produce other colors.

Blue is the color of God’s sapphire throne, signifying God’s righteousness. Red is the color of the sanctifying fire, signifying God’s holiness. Yellow is the color of the glowing electrum, signifying God’s glory.

After the fall of man in the garden of Eden, God closed the way to the tree of life and set a cherubim with a flaming sword to guard it, so that man would not eat of it and live forever as a sinful man.

Because of man’s fall, God’s righteousness was offended, God’s holiness excluded man, and man came short of God’s glory.

But Christ became a man and through His death He fulfilled all the requirements of God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory, and He became to all those who believe in Him the wisdom of God as righteousness, sanctification (holiness), and redemption (glory).

Now whoever believes into Christ becomes in Christ God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory, and these divine attributes become his human virtues so that God would be expressed through the church.

In the New Jerusalem the foundations of the city are of different colors – the colors of the rainbow, signifying that the holy city is based on God’s faithfulness and righteousness; we all will become an eternal living expression of God, manifesting God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory as a rainbow for eternity! Hallelujah!

In the church life today we have a foretaste of this: first by knowing this, then by praying over these matters, and finally by allowing God to fill us with His presence of righteousness by giving Him the full opportunity to work in us as the fire of holiness for His splendor of glory to us!

The Rainbow around God’s Throne Signifies that Christ Became Wisdom to us from God

The rainbow around God’s throne also signifies that Christ became wisdom to us from God: both righteousness and sanctification, and redemption (Rev. 4:3; Ezek. 1:26-28).

Both in Ezek. 1:26-28 and in Rev. 4:3 we see that there was a rainbow around God’s throne, and this rainbow signifies, on the one hand, God’s faithfulness in not completely wiping out man due to his sins but saving a remnant, and on the other hand, it signifies that Christ became wisdom to us from God: both righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

The three primary colors of the rainbow are blue (which is the color of the sapphire throne, signifying God’s righteousness – see Ezek. 1:26, Psa. 89:14), red (which is the color of the sanctifying fire, signifying God’s holiness – see Ezek. 1:4, 13, 27; Heb. 12:29), and yellow (which is the color of the glowing electrum, signifying God’s glory – see Ezek. 1:4, 27; Heb. 1:3).

These three main attributes of God – righteousness, holiness, and glory – keep sinners away from God due to man’s fall. In Gen. 3:24 after Adam fell God put a cherubim to guard the way to the tree of life with a flaming sword, since God didn’t want man to live forever with his sinful nature.

The sword for killing indicates God’s righteousness (cf. Lam. 3:42-43; Rom. 2:5), the flame signifies God’s holiness (Deut. 4:24; 9:3; Heb. 12:29), and the cherubim signify God’s glory (cf. Ezek. 9:3; 10:4; Heb. 9:5).

Since we as sinful men couldn’t meet these requirements (Rom. 3:10-18, 33), we are not permitted in our sinful state to contact God as the tree of life.

In order to open the way to the tree of life, God became a man as the Lord Jesus Christ, satisfied the requirements of God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory through His death on the cross, and now whoever believes into Him becomes in Him God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory!

When we as believers eat the tree of life, we become the very attributes of God: we become God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory, and this is wisdom to us from God!

By His all-inclusive death on the cross, Christ opened a new and living way for us to enter into the Holy of Holies and partake of Christ as the tree of life, and we now have the right to the tree of life as we wash our robes in the blood of the Lamb (see Heb. 10:19-20; Rev. 22:14).

Because of our sin, we offended God’s holy being, we broke God’s righteous law, and we became short of God’s glory. But now there is a way back into God: we can apply the blood of Christ and believe into the Lord to have the right to enter into the city and become the ultimate mingling of God and man!

Now Christ Himself is signified by the rainbow of righteousness, holiness, and glory, and He is the covenant of God given to His people (see Isa. 42:6; Heb. 8:10-12). Through this covenant we inherit God and He inherits us, we enjoy Him as the inward law of life operating in us, we know Him in the way of life, and He forgives and forgets our sins as we confess them!

Christ today is wisdom to us from God, constantly transmitting Himself into us as righteousness that we might be reborn with God’s life in our spirit, sanctification that we might be transformed with God’s life in every part of our soul, and redemption that we might be transfigured by being saturated with God’s life in our body (see 1 Cor. 1:30; Rom. 8:10; 12:2; 8:23; Eph. 5:25-27).

Hallelujah! For eternity as the New Jerusalem we will be a rainbow testifying of God’s faithfulness to carry out His new covenant in making us exactly the same as He is as righteousness, holiness and glory; we will be a great display of Christ as God’s multifarious wisdom through us to the whole universe (see Rev. 21:10-20).

Thank You Lord Jesus for dying to fulfill all the requirements of God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory. Now there is a new and living way opened into God that we may wash our robes and enter in to eat the tree of life! Lord, keep us under the continual transmission of Christ as wisdom to us from God: both righteousness and sanctification and redemption! Make us Your glorious universal display of Your multifarious wisdom. Make us the same as You are in Your righteousness, holiness, and glory that we may corporately express You!

Manifesting the Spiritual Reality of the Rainbow in the Church Life Today

The spiritual reality of the rainbow around God's throne should be manifest in the church today — we need to allow God to fill us with His presence of righteousness by giving Him the full opportunity to work in us as the fire of holiness for His splendor of glory through us. (Witness Lee, Life-study of Ezekiel)

Our destiny is clearly set: we will become the rainbow city, the New Jerusalem with foundations layer-upon-layer as a rainbow, eternally testifying that God is faithful to save us, transform us, and glorify us to express Him corporately in His righteousness, holiness, and glory.

Today in the church life we need to have the spiritual reality of this bright rainbow by allowing God to work in us to burn away anything that doesn’t match God so that His holy nature would be manifested through us as bright gold shining.

We need to allow God to fill us with His presence of righteousness by giving Him the full opportunity to work in us as the fire of holiness for His splendor of glory through us.

When people come among us they should see the glorious shining rainbow of God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory expressed through us. This rainbow is a sign of God’s faithfulness in keeping His covenant that there will be no more judgement of death.

We must live under the new covenant and not believe in any failure, weakness, darkness, or negative thing; we are the covenanted people, and we have a verse of promise to meet every situation.Today we live under the new covenant and we do NOT believe in any failures, weakness, darkness, or negative thing. Hallelujah, as believers in Christ we are covenanted people, and we have a verse of promise in the Bible to meet every situation!

May we be those who refuse to believe in any failure we may have, any darkness we may be in momentarily, any weakness we may have at the present time, or any negative thing that may happen to us. May we believe in the word of God which is full of promises to us!

Here are a few of the promises in God’s word:

  • Every morning you have a New Beginning! Lam. 3:22-23 says, It is Jehovah’s lovingkindness that we are not consumed, For His compassions do not fail; They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
  • Do you feel condemned? There’s no condemnation! Rom. 8:1 says, There is now then no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
  • Are you weak or sick? His grace is sufficient! 2 Cor. 12:9 says, And He has said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness. Most gladly therefore I will rather boast in my weaknesses that the power of Christ might tabernacle over me.
  • Death is not the end: incorruption through the gospel is ours! 2 Tim. 1:10 says, But now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who nullified death and brought life and incorruption to light through the gospel.
  • Don’t worry: pray, talk to the Lord, and enter into God! Phil. 4:6 says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
  • Feeling weak? Be empowered in the enjoyment of Christ. 2 Tim. 2:1 says, You therefore, my child, be empowered in the grace which is in Christ Jesus.
  • Do you stumble? Ask the Lord based on His word to guard you from stumbling! Jude 24 says, But to Him who is able to guard you from stumbling and to set you before His glory without blemish in exultation.
  • Did you sin? Confess: He will forgive you and cleanse you! 1 John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  • Enter into the enjoyment of Christ! 1 Cor. 1:9 says, God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

…and many more other promises (please leave a comment with other promises of God in His word that you enjoyed and stand on).

God’s word is His will, His testament, and it is our prayer-book; whatever we need, we can claim by faith from our Father based on His word and He will give more Christ to us as the reality of what we need!

Pray the Bible back to God and He will do what He says in His word in you!

Lord Jesus, fill us with Your presence of righteousness. We give You the full opportunity to work in us as the fire of holiness to burn away anything that doesn’t match Your holy nature. Lord, may Your splendor of glory shine out through us. Keep us enjoying You in Your new covenant, taking Your promises in by faith and through prayer. Lord, do in us what You said You will do in Your word. We stand on Your promises and we claim Your promises by faith through pray-reading Your word back to You that You may do what You have said in Your word!

God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory are three divine attributes that keep sinners away from God….But the Lord Jesus came, died on the cross to satisfy the requirements of God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory, and was resurrected, and He is now our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption (1 Cor. 1:30). He is also now our glory. In ourselves we are short of God’s glory (Rom. 3:23), we are under God’s righteous judgment, and we are kept away by God’s holiness. But now, as believers, we are in Christ, and He has become our righteousness, holiness, and glory….Because we are in Christ, in the sight of God we look like righteousness, holiness, and glory.

Even the New Jerusalem has the appearance of a rainbow. The foundation stones of the New Jerusalem are of twelve layers, with each layer being a different color (Rev. 21:19-20)….The twelve layers of the foundation stones have the appearance of a rainbow in color….This rainbow signifies that the city is built upon and secured by God’s faithfulness in keeping His covenant. This rainbow will declare for eternity that when God judged sinners according to His righteousness, He did not destroy everyone but saved many from destruction as a testimony of His faithfulness. In eternity we, the aggregate of the saved ones, will be a rainbow testifying forever that our God is righteous and faithful. (Life-study of Ezekiel, msg. 12)

Here’s a list with more promises of God, as compiled and shared by many saints in Christ via Facebook:

Ephesians 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us.

The spiritual reality of this rainbow should be manifest in the church today~we need to allow God to fill us with His presence of righteousness by giving Him the full opportunity to work in us as the fire of holiness for His splendor of glory through us (1 Cor.1:30).

Those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers. (Rom. 8:29). Hallelujah! What a promise, to us and to Him; that He will have us, as many brothers, conformed to Him!

That we can live Him! “As the living Father has sent Me and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also shall live because of Me” (John 6:57). May we eat Him through out the day that we may live and express Him!

1 Corinthians 13:2 “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but do not have love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing”

Christ is the Light of the World
John 8:12 Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 12:46 I have come as a light into the world, that everyone who believes into Me would not remain in darkness.
