This morning I enjoyed the fact that even though man fell in the garden of Eden, even though we are born fallen and we sin spontaneously, God in His mercy and according to His plan came as a man in the Lord Jesus and He opened the way to the tree of life!
In the garden of Eden, when man took of the wrong / forbidden tree, he not only got the poison into his being (thus becoming fallen in his entire tripartite being), but man was also excluded / cast out of the garden of Eden! When man was cast out of Eden, God put a cherub with a flaming sword to guard the way to the tree of life (Gen. 3:23-24).
The cherub signifies God’s glory, the sword, God’s righteousness, and the flaming fire signifies God’s holiness. The requirements of God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory block our way to the tree of life. It is only if we fulfill these requirements that we can again enjoy God as life (the tree of life).
On the one hand there was the problem of man’s sin and sinful condition, and on the other hand there were the righteous, holy, and glorious requirements that man had to meet in order to enter in and have access to the tree of life.
Hallelujah, through His death on the cross, Christ fulfilled all the righteous, glorious, and holy requirements of God, becoming the perfect sacrifice! When Christ’s flesh / human body was crucified and He died on the cross, He took care of all our sins and also – the veil that closed the way to the Holy of Holies (where God as the tree of life is) was rent from top to bottom (Matt. 27:51)!
Now the Lord opened a new and living way into God, so that we may enter into the Holy of Holies and take Him as the tree of life for our enjoyment. We are not qualified in ourselves, but Christ paid the price, and it is in Him and based on His sacrifice that we have access to the tree of life! Hallelujah, by His death on the cross, Christ opened the way for us to eat God as the tree of life!
Now that everything is done and prepared, we don’t have to wait – Christ opened the way, and He became the life-giving Spirit as the reality of the tree of life. This life-giving Spirit includes God, man, perfect human living with the perfect obedience to God, the all-inclusive death on the cross, the all-overcoming resurrection, and the ascension of Christ. All that we need is in this Spirit!
Even God’s righteousness, His holiness, and His glory – are all included in the wonderful all-inclusive compound life-giving Spirit. All we have to do now is to receive Him and enjoy Him today by calling on the name of the Lord – O, Lord Jesus (1 Cor. 12:3; Acts 2:17, 21)!
He is so available, and we can take Him in right now! When we call on the name of the Lord, we enjoy all His riches (Rom. 10:12), and we receive Him into us as the tree of life! When we continue to call on His name, we continue to enjoy God as life! So –
