Whenever we subject ourselves to the Triune God, taking Him as our Head, we enjoy the flow of the water of life within us
As believers in Christ we have the throne of God set up in the center of our being, and whenever we enthrone the Lord and take Him as the Head, there’s a river of water of life flowing within us. In our daily life with all the day-to-day activities and things, we need to enthrone the Lord in the center of our being and we will enjoy the circulation of the divine life within our being.
In our relationship with the Lord we need to have a clear sky with a throne above it. Starting from when we wake up in the morning we need to contact the Lord and tell Him,
Lord, thank You for a new day for me to take You as my Lord. I enthrone You in the center of my being. I subject myself to Your headship this whole day. Lord, set up Your throne in my life. Bring my whole day with my daily life under Your throne. May there be a throne set up in my being with a river of water of life proceeding from the throne! I want to drink the living water, eat the tree of life, serve You in newness of spirit, see Your face, and have Your name inscribed on my forehead! Keep me under Your throne today!
Throughout the day we can turn to the Lord and take Him as our Head in things big or small, while taking decisions about this and that, and even while having a break. What we want is to have the circulation of the divine life in our being, and this circulation is uninterruptedly flowing when we enthrone the Lord and give Him the preeminence.
If we don’t enthrone the Lord, we feel dry and empty; but as soon as we turn to Him in our spirit and come to the throne of grace, we will receive mercy and find grace for timely help (Heb. 4:16). May we be those who experience the throne of God and of the Lamb in the New Jerusalem – in our daily life today!
Enthroning the Lord in the Center of our Being to Enjoy the Flow of Life in us
As believers in Christ, seekers of God, and lovers of the Lord, we need to be those who experience the New Jerusalem with its many characteristics and features today. The center of the New Jerusalem is the throne of God and of the Lamb (Rev. 22:1); in the center of our being we need to have the throne of God set up.
Our living today on earth is NOT for ourselves, for our satisfaction, or for our human living; we today live on earth for the accomplishment of God’s purpose. We need to come to the Lord in our spirit and enthrone Him in all the aspects of our daily life, our family life, our marriage life, our work life, and our church life.
If we enthrone the Lord in the center of our being, there will be a rich flow of life within us. Whenever we enthrone Christ, we are filled with life and supplied with all we need to live the Christian life and the church life. The water of life is proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb!
This water of life is the life-giving Spirit, whom Christ was not yet before His resurrection (John 7:38-39). God the Father has purposed, He then became the Lamb who redeemed us (John 1:14, 29), and through death and resurrection He became the flowing life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45; 2 Cor. 3:17).
Now God is a flowing God with the Father as the source, the Son as the springing up, and the Spirit as the flow of life, and He wants to flow within us and out of us. How can the Triune God flow in and out of us as life? It is by us having Him on the throne in our being.
It is not a small thing to have the Triune God flowing in us. When we open to Him, take Him as our Head, and enthrone Him in our being, the Triune God flows in us as the One who purposed, the One who redeemed, and the One who is the life-giving Spirit.
The cause for us feeling dry and empty is that Christ is not on the throne in our being. If God and the Lamb are not on the throne in our being, there is no flow of the divine life. But when God is on the throne in our spirit, the love of God, the grace of Christ, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit flow within us from the throne of grace in our spirit to richly supply us (2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 4:16).
When the throne of God is set up in us, when we enthrone the Lord in the center of our being, we will have the flow of living water proceeding from the throne, the tree of life growing on both sides of the river, and we will serve the Lord, see His face, and have His name inscribed on our foreheads (see Rev. 22:1-5).
What the Bible Tells us about Enthroning the Lord in our Being
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come forward with boldness to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace for timely help.
There are many verses and portions in the Bible telling us both directly and indirectly what does it mean, how to, and what happens when we enthrone the Lord in our being. We can see that whoever takes Christ as his Head, enthrones God in his being, and is under the authority of the Triune God enjoys the flow of the living water in his being and is under God’s blessing.
The record of Joseph’s life in Genesis is a record of a person under the rulership of the Spirit. He allowed God to rule in his being, and he was qualified to rule over all Egypt. We need to allow the Spirit to rule in us. Joseph dealt with his brothers in a sober way, wisely, with much discernment, because he was under the rulership of the Spirit within.
In Ezek. 1:23-26 we see that the four living creatures had above their heads a clear sky like awesome crystal and a throne set up above it. In our fellowship and coordination in the church life, and in all the aspects of our Christian life, we need to have a clear sky between us and the Lord, and Christ needs to be on the throne above this sky. This throne is actually a Person – Christ as God’s ruling presence. Whenever we enthrone Christ in our being, we have a sapphire throne in us and we have the position, the situation, and the atmosphere of God’s ruling presence in us.
In Matt. 1:1 we see that Christ is the son of David, the son of Abraham. David represents the kingship, and to Abraham was given the promise of the blessing. If we take Christ as our king, we will enjoy Him as our blessing, the blessing of Abraham. The more we are under God’s ruling, the more we enjoy God in Christ as the Spirit to be our all-inclusive blessing. How can we enjoy the blessing of Abraham? By enthroning Christ and taking Him as the king inwardly.
In Rom. 14:7-9 we see that whether we live, we live to the Lord, and whether we die, we die to the Lord; He died and rose that He might be the Lord of all! The Lord Jesus died and rose from the dead so that He might be our inward subjective Lord, king, God, and Master. He wants to be the ruling presence of God within us, out of whom the river of water of life flows.
The way to enthrone the Lord in our being is to NO LONGER live to ourselves – no longer live under our own control, direction, and governing, and no longer caring for our own aims and goals. To live to the Lord is to be determined to gain the honor of being well-pleasing to Him by being absolutely under God’s control, direction, and governing, and we care uniquely for His aims and goals. When we are under God’s throne we are under His direction and goal, and we live to fulfill His requirements and satisfy His desires, completing what He intends.
In Heb. 4:16 we are told to come forward with boldness to the throne of grace so that we may receive mercy and find grace for timely help. Footnote 1 in the Holy Bible Recovery Version helps us understand WHERE is the throne of grace and HOW can we come to the throne of grace,
Undoubtedly, the throne mentioned here is the throne of God, which is in heaven (Rev. 4:2). The throne of God is the throne of authority toward all the universe (Dan. 7:9; Rev. 5:1). But toward us, the believers, it becomes the throne of grace, signified by the expiation cover (the mercy-seat) within the Holy of Holies (Exo. 25:17, 21). This throne is the throne of both God and the Lamb (Rev. 22:1). How can we come to the throne of God and the Lamb, Christ, in heaven while we still live on earth? The secret is our spirit, referred to in v. 12. The very Christ who is sitting on the throne in heaven (Rom. 8:34) is also now in us (Rom. 8:10), that is, in our spirit (2 Tim. 4:22), where the habitation of God is (Eph. 2:22). At Bethel, the house of God, the habitation of God, which is the gate of heaven, Christ is the ladder that joins earth to heaven and brings heaven to earth (Gen. 28:12-17; John 1:51). Since today our spirit is the place of God’s habitation, it is now the gate of heaven, where Christ is the ladder that joins us, the people on earth, to heaven, and brings heaven to us. Hence, whenever we turn to our spirit, we enter through the gate of heaven and touch the throne of grace in heaven through Christ as the heavenly ladder. (Heb. 4:16, footnote 1)
In Rev. 2:12-13 we see the church in Pergamos, a church who was not a miniature of the New Jerusalem but was in union with the world, married to the world. God knew where this church dwelt – where the throne of Satan is. Satan’s throne is the world. We are not immune to the world; rather, many things from this world want to replace the Lord on the throne in our being. We need to tell the Lord,
Lord, save me and save all the saints from being married to the world in any way! May nothing apart from You be on the throne in the center of my being. May Your throne be the capital in my being so that there would be a river of water of life flowing in me!
If we overcome worldliness, we are rewarded with the hidden manna (the Christ we eat, digest, and assimilate with no distance between us and the Lord), a white stone (we are being transformed and justified), and a new name (the interpretation of our experiences of Christ).
In Rev. 22:1-5 we see the throne of God out of which proceeds the river of water of life, the tree of life growing on both sides of the river, serving God, seeing His face, and having His name on our foreheads. When we enthrone Christ in our being and subject ourselves to His headship, the river of life circulates in our being and we enjoy the tree of life supplying us.
Then, we serve the Lord in a new and living way, in the enjoyment of the river of life and the tree of life under the throne. We serve Him, we see His face, and His name will be on our forehead. As we enthrone the Lord, drink the water of life, and eat the tree of life, we are becoming God in life and nature but not in the Godhead – and we will reign with Him forever and ever! Hallelujah, what a destiny we have!
Lord Jesus, give us a clear sky like awesome crystal between us and You. May there be nothing between us and You and between us and the saints. Be enthroned in our being. We want to have God’s ruling presence in us and live in the position, situation, and atmosphere of Christ being enthroned in our being. We take You as our Head, our Lord, our King, our God, and our Master. We come forward to the throne of grace in our spirit to receive the flow of life that supplies us inwardly. Have a free way to flow in us from the throne set in the center of our being!
