we were buried with Christ in baptism and now we live a new life with Him in resurrection

we were buried with Christ in baptism and now we live a new life with Him in resurrectionThis morning I enjoyed this particular aspect of the importance of the baptism and the meaning of baptism. When we were baptized, besides putting everything old behind, dying to the world / flesh / sin / the self / Satan / everything in the past, we also died to the law and now we are living to God!

We now walk in newness of life, having been buried with Christ! Here is the reference verse that I enjoyed so much – Romans 7:4:

So then, my brothers, you also have been made dead to the law through the body of Christ so that you might be joined to another, to Him who has been raised from the dead, that we might bear fruit to God.

I will not get into the “intrinsic meaning and implications of the baptism” in this sharing, but I just wanted to write this specific aspect I enjoyed about baptism – when we were baptized, we were put to death with Christ and then raised up with Him in resurrection to live a new life, even to be joined to Him.

Being under the law and condemned to death, we had no way out – as long as we are living, we have to obey the law, and we continually fail in doing this. BUT if we die, then the law has no power over us! We died with Christ = we died to “our old husband”, the law, and now we are “joined to Christ / married to Christ” to live a new life in resurrection!

In this new life, Christ is our Head – He is our Husband (Eph. 5:23). We now are learning how to submit to Him – by not trusting ourselves or doing things by ourselves, but realizing that He is in us and allowing Him to live in us.

No longer us, but Christ (Gal. 2:20) in the way that we are crucified with Christ and it is no longer us who live but Christ that lives in us. Christ is our life (Col. 3:4) and Christ is our person! We no longer live to ourselves, we no longer live to the law, and we no longer serve as slaves under sin – now we are joined to Christ (1 Cor. 6:17).

We used to be involved with the law and be under the law – now we are transferred into grace – we are involved with Christ, the divine Person who is our Redeemer, our Reconciler, and our Life-Savior. Instead of being under law trying to obey the law, we are now dead to law and living to God – even “through law we have died to law that we might live to God” (Gal. 2:19).

What a wonderful new life – learning to live by the divine life, taking Christ as our real life and person!

Lord, today, keep us contacting You – by denying ourselves and taking You in every moment. O, Lord Jesus, You are our life! O, Lord Jesus, You are our Person! We no longer live to the law – now we are dead to the law and living to God! Our life is now in resurrection together with You!
