We can Live a Life of Reality and Learn Christ because we are in Him who is True

But you did not so learn Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him as the reality is in Jesus. Eph. 4:20-21

As believers in Christ, we need to learn Christ and be taught in Him to live a life of reality; we can live in the reality that is in Jesus because we are in the true One, the One who is true! Hallelujah!

The whole world with the human living in the fallen being under the sun is vanity and chasing after the wind; reality is in Jesus, and when He came, He came full of grace and reality.

We all strive for and aspire to obtain reality, and we may try to be genuine and real in ourselves, but all we are is just vanity; reality is in a person and reality even is a Person, Jesus Christ Himself.

There is such a contrast between the reality in Jesus and the vanity of the fallen human mind.

In our mind, there is only vanity, and whenever we live in the soul or according to the flesh, we live a life of vanity.

But when we set our mind on our spirit, when we turn to the Lord and enjoy Him, reality is in our spirit, and we become men filled with reality.

We are hungry for reality.

In the godless walk of the fallen man, there is vanity; in the godly life of Jesus, there is reality.

When we read the Gospels we see a Person who lived not in the vain manner of life like those around Him; He lived a life of reality.

Even though He was put to death and He died young, only at thirty-three and a half years old, He lived a life of reality, and reality is found in Jesus.

Everything that Jesus did and said was reality; He didn’t misspoke, He didn’t sin, He didn’t do anything wrong, He never sought His own interest, He didn’t want His own glory, and He didn’t speak His own words.

His life, His living, His words, and His work, everything He did and said, it was all in reality, for He denied Himself and expressed God in man.

Only when we live in the organic union with such a One, when we live Christ by allowing Him to live in us, can we live a life of reality.

And we can live such a life – it is not impossible – for He lives in us! We have been regenerated with the divine life, and Christ as life has come into us to become our very life.

When we take Him as our life, when we contact Him and enjoy Him when we fellowship with Him and allow Him to live and be expressed through us, we live a life of reality, for reality is in Jesus.

We need to Learn Christ and be Taught in Him to Live a Life of Reality, for Reality is in Jesus

The elder to the chosen lady and to her children, whom I love in truthfulness, and not only I but also all those who know the truth. For the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever. 2 John 1-2In Eph. 4:21 we see this expression, “the reality is in Jesus”; this refers to the actual condition of the life of Jesus recorded in the four Gospels.

The nations have a godless walk, a life of vanity, a life in the vanity of their mind, but in the godly life of Jesus, there is reality.

Everything that Jesus did was in God, with God, and for God; His life was a life of reality, for He didn’t merely live a human life but He expressed God in the human life.

God was in the living of Jesus, and Jesus lived one with God; reality is in Jesus, and we believers in Christ are taught in Him, we learn from Him as the reality is in Jesus.

The essence of the life of Jesus was reality, for He always walked in reality, because the human life of Jesus was according to the reality, that is, according to God Himself.

Such a life, such a living, the life of Jesus according to reality, is the pattern for our life as believers in Christ (2 John 1-2, 4; 3 John 3-4).

We believers in Christ need to learn Christ and be taught in Him to live a life of reality (Eph. 4:20-21; 2 John 1; John 4:23-24).

He lived a life that was not only great but also fine; for example, when he fed the five thousand men with five loaves and two fish, He instructed His disciples to gather all the broken pieces left over so that nothing may be lost (John 6:12-13).

In every detail of the Lord’s living, whether He walked, He faced His opposers, He spoke the truth, He healed men, He was with the disciples, or He did something for God, in everything He did and said there was reality, with no trace of vanity.

We need to learn Christ and be taught in Him to live a life of reality.

Such a One is now the Spirit of reality in our spirit guiding us into the reality of all that He is.

He is the Shepherd of our soul caring for us, and He leads us to live a life of reality.

We may feel that we don’t live a life of reality, so we seek the Lord, we prayerfully read His word, and little by little He will lead us into living a life of reality.

The apostle John could testify in one of his epistles that he loved the saints in truthfulness. This truthfulness, in which we also worship God, is the divine reality constituted into us to become our genuineness, sincerity, honesty, integrity, and truthfulness.

The expression the reality is in Jesus [in Ephesians 4:21] refers to the actual condition of the life of Jesus as recorded in the four Gospels. In the godless walk of the nations, the fallen people, there is vanity, but in the godly life of Jesus there is the reality. Jesus lived a life in which He did everything in God, with God, and for God. God was in His living, and He was one with God. This is what is meant by the reality is in Jesus. We, the believers, who are regenerated with Christ as our life and are taught in Him, learn from Him as the reality is in Jesus. Witness Lee, The Conclusion of the New Testament, pp. 3426-3427This happened in the apostle John, and it will happen in you and in me; we are being brought into living a life of reality little by little, day by day.

Incrementally, daily, even moment by moment, we are brought into living according to the divine life in us, learning Christ as the reality is in Jesus, and living a life of reality.

As members of the Body of Christ, we should live a life of reality, as the reality is in Jesus; we need to live a life of expressing God.

What God wants to gain among us is not only the understanding and appreciation of the Lord Jesus and His wonderful human living but even a reproduction of such a life in our daily life.

The Lord wants to gain the reality of the Body of Christ in which all the members of the Body live a life of reality.

We want to not only have the doctrine of Christ and the revelation of the Body of Christ; we want to have not only the vision of Christ and living a life in the Body, but even enter into the reality – the reality of living Christ, living a life of reality, in which we express God.

We can honestly and even desperately pray to the Lord,

Lord Jesus, guide us as the Spirit of reality into all the reality of what You are. We want to learn Christ and be taught in Him to live a life of reality. Amen, Lord, we hunger for reality! We do not want to live in the vain manner of life of the godless people today around us. We yearn that the divine reality would be constituted into us as we learn Christ day by day. May there be an incremental growth in life and a gradual advancement in living a life of reality in our daily living. Amen, Lord, may all the members of the Body of Christ be brought into living a life of reality, as the reality is in Jesus! May we all live a life of expressing God by taking God as our everything and by allowing Him as truthfulness to become our genuineness, sincerity, honesty, and integrity!

We can Live in the Reality that is in Jesus because we are in Him who is True, in the True One!

We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we might know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:19-20The whole world lies in the evil one, but we as believers have been transferred out of this evil one and put in the True One, even in the True, the One who is truth itself.

We can live a life of reality – we can live in the reality that is in Jesus – because we are in Him who is true (1 John 5:20).

Right now, all believers in Christ who were regenerated with the divine life, are in the true God, in the reality.

We know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know Him; we not only believe into Him but also know Him intimately and personally by being in Him as the True One.

The True One has come, and we are in Him; we are immersed in Him, permeated with Him, and saturated with Him.

In our daily life with all the things happening outwardly, including the things that happen to us and are out of our control, may we open to the Lord inwardly and allow Him to saturate us and permeate us with Himself.

We can live a life of reality NOT by trying to be genuine and real; it is only by inwardly opening to Him, the One who is True, the One in whom we are, and allowing Him to work Himself into us as the reality.

Him who is true in 1 John 5:20 refers to God becoming subjective to us; the God who is objective is becoming the True One in our life and experience.

For us to be in the One who is true – the True One – is for us to be in His Son Jesus Christ, for the Lord Jesus, the Son of God, is the true God.

Through incarnation, Christ came to bring God to us as grace and reality so that we may have the divine life (John 1:14); now we can partake of God as love and light (see the gospel of John).

He shines on us and, as the Spirit of reality, He enlightens and empowers the faculty of our mind to apprehend the divine reality in our regenerated spirit (John 16:12-15).

Now we have the ability to know God; this is the ability of the divine life to know the true God (John 17:3) in our regenerated spirit (Eph. 1:17) through our renewed mind which is enlightened by the Spirit of reality.

The basic elements in the learning of Christ are reality and grace. In contrast to the Gospel of John where grace precedes reality, in Ephesians 4 before Paul mentions grace, that is, the supply, he presents the reality, that is, the principle, the pattern, and the standard. The reality is the shining of light; as members of the Body of Christ under the Head, we should learn Christ as the reality is in Jesus. Yet in order to live out this standard of the reality, we must have grace...In all things we need grace to live a life according to the reality that is in Jesus. Grace is our rich supply and enjoyment. If we have this supply and enjoyment, we will be able to live according to the standard of the reality. The Conclusion of the New Testament, pp. 3426-3427, by Witness LeeInwardly, He gives us an understanding and a vision of the reality in Jesus; also, He Himself has become a mold into which we were put at the time of our regeneration so that we may learn Christ as the reality is in Jesus.

We all need to learn Christ as the reality is in Jesus so that we may live a life of reality, a life of expressing God.

He is the Spirit of reality within us guiding us into all the reality of what He is, and He is also the mold into whom we are placed to learn Christ.

Both within and without, both inwardly and outwardly, we are in Christ; we learn Christ as the reality is in Jesus, and we can live by Him according to the mold into which we are placed by God.

How can we do this? It is only by grace; He has come to us to be our enjoyment and our everything in all the details of our daily life.

Especially in our speaking, we need grace; if we have grace in the aspect of our speaking, we will have grace in every other aspect.

In all things, we need grace to live a life according to the reality that is in Jesus. Hallelujah, the true One is the divine reality, and we are in Him!

For us to know the true One means that we know the divine reality by experiencing this reality, enjoying this reality, and possessing this divine reality.

Hallelujah, we can live in the reality that is in Jesus because we are in Him who is True! Thank You Lord for putting us into Yourself as the True One; we are no longer in the world who lies in the evil one – we are in the True! Thank You for coming to give us the divine life so that we may partake of God as love and light. Thank You for enlightening and empowering our mind by the Spirit of reality so that we may apprehend the divine reality in our regenerated spirit. Hallelujah, we have the ability to know the true God in our regenerated spirit through our renewed mind, enlightened by the Spirit of reality! Amen, Lord, we want to live a life of reality by being in You and by allowing You to saturate us and permeate us with Yourself as reality!

    – We have seen Christ is reality: / But it’s not sufficient just to see: / He in our experience must be / Everything to us. / We in prayer behold Him face to face, / In the Word and meetings know His grace; / But in daily life, in every place, / What is He to us? (Hymns #1178)
    – I know Thee even less; / In doctrine, shallowly; / True revelation lack / Of Thy reality. / Oh, may Thy living light, Lord, / Scatter all my night, Lord, / And everything make bright, Lord, / For this I pray to Thee. (Hymns #426)
    – In Thee the grace of God subsists, / God we enjoy in Thee; / His truth in Thee is also found, / His full reality. / In Thee God’s fulness we receive, / Which fills from grace to grace; / In Thee with God we’re mingled here, / Till one in every phase. (Hymns #56)
