As believers in Christ, we are living creatures who are learning to maintain a clear sky between us and the Lord, and above this clear sky there’s a throne – we need to see a vision of the throne of God for the divine administration throughout the universe.
As we are learning to coordinate with the saints and have a clear sky toward the Lord, on the one hand we speak for God by being one with Him, and on the other, we stop to listen to His voice.
The four living creatures had four wings: with two they covered their body (signifying us being covered by the grace of God, overshadowed by God’s grace), and two wings are stretched straight to touch the other’s wings.
When they move, they use two wings, and the sound of their move was as the voice of the Almighty – they had God’s speaking in their move. But when a voice came from the clear heavens above them, they stopped, lowered their wings, and listened.
This is a type of our coordination in the church life: on the one hand we have fellowship and coordination with the saints in a straight, frank, and sincere way, and the Lord’s speaking is in our speaking and in our move. On the other hand, when the Lord speaks, we stop, listen to His voice, and spend time to be filled with His living word.
As living creatures we need to know not only how to speak for the Lord but also how to listen to God’s voice. We need to come to the Lord, lend Him our ears, and even let Him open our ears and instruct us in His word; as His servants, we love the Lord our Master, we love the church, and we love all the saints – we don’t want to go out free!
We want to be like Mary, sitting at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word in a humble position, and being quiet inside so that we may receive His word and be infused with His intentions.
We need to sit at the Lord’s feet, putting ourselves in a humble position and even negating ourselves, being quiet within, so that we may hear the Lord’s words.
The Lord’s speaking is vital to our living and move as believers, so when He speaks, we need to stop and listen, then we can move one with Him, speaking His words and accomplishing His purpose.
Seeing a Vision of the Throne of God for His Administration throughout the Universe
Above the clear sky – the expanse, the firmament – over the living creatures there was a throne, and there was One upon the throne. We need to see a vision of the throne of God for the divine administration throughout the universe.
John was called up to the third heavens to see the things that must take place, and immediately he was in his spirit (Rev. 4:1-2); the way for us to see a vision of the throne of God for His divine administration is by being in our spirit.
When we are in our spirit, there is a throne set up in our being, and there is One on the throne – it is not us who is on the throne, but Christ. When we are in our spirit, we are genuinely dethroned, and God is on the throne in us.
The book of Revelation unveils God’s universal administration; this book reveals that the universe operates according to God’s administration (Rev. 4:2, 5).
In Revelation 4 is the scene in the heavens, its center being the throne of God, on which God sits, ready to execute His universal administration for the fulfillment of His eternal purpose….In chapter 5 is the same scene in the heavens after Christ ascended there. He was recommended to the apostle John as the Lion of the tribe of Judah by one of the elders, but He appeared to John as a Lamb. As the Lion, He is the Fighter against the enemy; as the Lamb, He is the Redeemer for us. He fought to redeem us, and He won the battle over the enemy and accomplished redemption for us. To the enemy He is a Lion; to us He is a Lamb. Hence, He is the Lion- Lamb. (Rev. 5:6, footnote 1, Recovery Version Bible)
In the Epistles, the throne of God is the throne of grace, where we can come and receive the supply for the timely need; in Rev. 4-5 the throne of God is the throne of divine authority. God’s throne is related to His administration, which is a matter of His economy (Eph. 1:10; 3:9).
God on the throne is behind every scene; He is the ruler over all things, and He rules over everyone and everything (see Isa. 6:1). Countries may hold elections to “choose their next president”, but God is in control, and He rules over everyone and everything.
In 2 Chronicles 18:33 it was seemingly a man at random drawing a bow and shooting an arrow which killed the king, but it was actually God who was in control.
Everything in the world situation is decided on the throne, and nothing can happen outside the rule of God’s throne (see Job 1:6-12; 2:1-6; Luke 22:31-32).
For example, Job went through much suffering, and things didn’t make sense to him; but through all these, he was stripped of his physical things, ethical attainments, and human integrity, so that he may be filled with God.
He was perfect and upright but he didn’t have God in him. At the end, Job lost everything but he gained God; in all these things, God was in control, and He ruled over everything.
Lord Jesus, grant us to see a vision of the throne of God for the divine administration throughout the universe. We want to be persons in our spirit to have a clear sky with a throne above it, having God on the throne ruling in us. May the vision of the throne of God dethrone us and enthrone God in our being. Lord, may we see that God on the throne is behind the scene, ruling over everyone and everything. May we trust in God’s ruling, enthrone God in our being, and realize that nothing can happen outside the rule of God’s throne!
Being under a Crystal Clear and Expansive Sky, and being under the Throne of God all the Time
As believers in Christ, we need to have a crystal clear and expansive sky, and above this sky we should have the throne of God, with God on the throne in our being. The throne of God is the center of the universe, and it is where the Lord is.
Where is God today? Where is the Lord’s presence today? It is with the throne of God. Where is the throne of God? It is in the heavens, and it is also in our spirit.
The throne of God is the third heaven, but His throne is also in our spirit; therefore, we need to be under the throne of God all the time.
We need to exercise ourselves to have a conscience void of offense, having a clear, clean, and pure conscience; then, a throne will be set up in our being above the clear sky, and we will be under the ruling of the throne of God.
Because we are under the Lord’s throne, we don’t need law enforcement, police men, or law courts to rule over us, for we are under God’s rule. When we are about to say something, the Lord within us on the throne may not agree; even as we open our mouth to speak, we may swallow our words, for the Lord is ruling in our being.
At other times, we are about to be angry or lose our temper, but we realize that we are under the ruling of the throne of God, and we are subdued.
Many times, as we are on Facebook or playing on our phone, we may have an inner registration that bothers us, not allowing us to waste time and not agreeing with us spending time on these things.
We need to make sure we have a clear sky, and there will be a throne above it. However, if our sky is cloudy or darkened, we may not see the throne, and we may behave loosely, according to our taste and convenience.
Many times believers behave like those in the world, seeking their preference, speaking their own things, and spending time in activities that waste their energy and time, simply because they don’t have a clear sky.
If we don’t have a clear sky, we are in darkness and not under the throne of God; the result is that we may go where we want to go, speak what we want to speak, and not express Christ.
When we were saved, we were liberated from sin, the world, and Satan; however, in another sense we were brought under the throne of God, and we have no liberty at all. Praise the Lord, we can be under the clear sky and under the ruling of God on the throne within us!
Lord Jesus, we want to be under a crystal clear and expansive sky with the throne of God above it. We enthrone You in our being, Lord, and we give You the preeminence in everything. May our daily living with all its activities be under the rule of the throne of God above the clear sky in our spirit. Amen! Lord, save us from living in darkness and thus ignoring the throne of God. Save us from living like those in the world, in rebellion to God’s throne. May we be under the throne of God all the time, maintaining a clear sky in our spirit!

# Upon the throne, the center / Of government divine, / God reigns, and with His purpose / Brings everything in line. / God’s headship and His lordship / He only can maintain / As King within His kingdom, / O’er everything to reign. (Hymns #941)
# Today we must learn to submit to His throne, / How to have a strict life and His government own; / His authority then we’ll be able to share, / o’er the nations to rule with God’s Son as the heir. (Hymns #947)
# Reign over me, Lord Jesus; / Oh, make my heart Thy throne; / It shall be Thine, dear Savior, / It shall be Thine alone. / Oh, come and reign, Lord Jesus, / Rule over everything! / And keep me always loyal, / And true to Thee, my King. (Hymns #443)
In our Christian life and in our church life, if the sky is clear, the throne will be there. But if our sky is cloudy and darkened, we will not see the throne. When we do not see the throne, we can be loose and do many things according to our taste and convenience….Whenever believers are in darkness and thus are not under the throne, they can be quite loose, speaking what they want to speak, expressing what they want to express, and going where they want to go. But a person who is under the throne has no liberty to behave in such a way.
In a sense, because we have been saved, we are liberated, but in another sense we are under the throne and have no liberty at all….Praise the Lord for the clear sky and for the throne! (Life-study of Ezekiel, p. 114, by WItness Lee)
