John 14 shows us that the Triune God is making His abode with the believers for the building up of His habitation; He visits the believers who love Him and abide in His word, speaks to them, and builds Himself into them to make them God’s habitation, the Father’s house. Amen!
May our heart not be troubled but may we believe into God and also believe into the Lord Jesus, who is God.
May we allow the word of God to expose and remove any concepts that are not according to the word of God, and may we be delivered from any leaven in Christianity that tells us that we’re going to heaven and we will live in a heavenly mansion.
All believers in Christ need to hear the gospel again, but this time they need to hear the high gospel as preached by the Lord Jesus in the Gospel of John.
In John 14 the Lord Jesus speaks of the Father’s house which has many abodes, and He says that He is going to prepare a place for us.
What is this going, what is He preparing, and what is the place? The Lord’s going is His going through death; He left His disciples by going through death.
His going was to prepare a place for us. What is this place, and how did He prepare it?
The Lord has already prepared this place, for in His death He dealt with all the problems and obstacles that hindered us from being in God and with God.
He dealt with and terminated sin, sins, the world, Satan, the self, the flesh, the natural man, and anything negative.
And the place that He prepared for us is not some sort of a heavenly by-and-by, a happy hunting ground, or a heavenly mansion. He prepared for us a place in God Himself.
Through Christ’s death and resurrection, God is entrable! He wants man to enter into Him and be fully one with Him. Wow!
God doesn’t want man to merely know Him and know His heart’s desire; He wants man to be fully one with God so that, just as the Father is in the Son and the Son is in the Father, so we believers in Christ would be in God. Wow!
This is why the Lord Jesus said in John 14:20, speaking of the place He prepared for us, that on that day – the day of His resurrection – we will know that Christ is in the Father, we are in Christ, and Christ is in us.
Hallelujah, we believers in Christ are in Christ by virtue of our believing into the Lord!
When we believe into Christ, we are brought into an organic union with Him; by faith in Christ, we enter into God! Wow!
Now we are in Christ, in God, and we are members of the Body of Christ, those who live in the mingled spirit so that God may be expressed through them. Hallelujah!
The Triune God is Making an Abode with the Believers for the Building of His Habitation
The Lord Jesus did not just come to die for us and redeem us so that we may fellowship with God, and then after believing into Him, we wait for Him to take us into heaven.
Rather, Christ went through the processes of incarnation, human living, crucifixion, death, and resurrection so that He may bring God into man and bring man into God.
John 14 shows us how the Triune God is dispensing Himself into us, the believers in Christ, so that we and He, He and we, might be built together in the mingling of divinity with humanity.
The Father’s house is not a physical thing but a spiritual reality, for the Triune God is making an abode with the believers in Christ for the building up of His habitation.
God is dispensing Himself into us. The Triune God – the Father, the Son, and the Spirit – is dispensing Himself into us, the believers in Christ, so that we may be constituted with Him and built together with Him.
First, the Son came as the embodiment of the Father, then He went through death and resurrection and came to the disciples as the Spirit, even the Spirit of reality, to be not just with the believers but even more, into them.
Now as the Spirit of reality in our spirit, He is guiding us into the reality of all that God is and has, and in all that Christ has done for us.
As we exercise our spirit and open to the Lord, the Triune God is dispensing Himself into us in His Divine Trinity, and He is making an abode with the believers.
He is building Himself into us and He is building us into Himself; this building is a mutual abode, for God to dwell in man and for man to dwell in God.
This is the base for the Lord saying in John 15:4, Abide in Me and I in you.
This is what He wants: for us to abide in Him and for Him to abide in us.
By the Spirit and through His death and resurrection, the Son of God – the Lord Jesus Christ – is building an organism, the church (see John 14:7-24).
The Father is embodied in the Son, the Son is realized as the Spirit, and the Spirit of reality comes into us to dispense all that God is into us.
The Spirit with and in our spirit guides us into all the reality of what God is to make God real to us.
The Triune God is making an abode with the believers for the building up of His habitation.
This organism that the Triune God is building is the church, the Body of Christ, and the Father’s house.
This mutual dwelling place of God and man is produced by the mingling of the Triune God and the redeemed people.
How is God building Himself into us? It is by mingling Himself with us.
As we contact the Lord, pray and open to Him, and call on His name, He has a way to build Himself into us.
The Triune God is making an abode with the believers for the building of His habitation by mingling Himself with us little by little, day by day.
He is doing a building work in us, in the depths of our being; unbeknownst to us, as long as we open to the Lord a little bit, He is mingling Himself with us.
We all can testify that, as we open to the Lord in coming to His word, in coming to the meetings of the church, and throughout the day, we love Him more, and we gain more of Him.
As we practice abiding in the Lord, simply remaining in Him, we enjoy the building work of the Triune God in the depths of our being.
When we exercise our spirit to contact the Lord, the Spirit of reality unveils Christ to us and brings us into the enjoyment of the riches of the all-inclusive Christ.
Lord Jesus, we love You! We want to abide in You today. Thank You for being in us and for bringing us into You. Hallelujah, we are joined to the Lord as one spirit! Amen, Lord, we open to You today. We open to Your building work in us. Mingle Yourself more with us. Keep our being open to You. We simply want to remain open to Your dispensing throughout the day. Amen, Lord, dispense Yourself into our being. Mingle Yourself with us. Make an abode with us. We open to Your sweet, constant visitation. Oh Lord Jesus, we love You! We love Your word. We love to open to You and take You as our life and as our person. Build Yourself into us and build us into You. Gain the mutual abode of God and man in us and with us. Build Your divinity into our humanity and build us into Yourself! Amen, Lord, may the Triune God gain an abode with us, the believers in Christ, for the building of the habitation of God! Hallelujah, we the church are the mingling of the Triune God with His chosen and redeemed people!
Love the Lord and His Word to have the Lord’s Visitation to make an Abode with us
On the one hand, Christ went through death to deal with all the obstacles and came back in His resurrection to prepare a place for all of us, the believers in Christ, to be an abode in the Father’s house.
On the other hand, the Father’s house is continually being built up by the constant visitation of the Father and the Son with the Spirit.
John 14:21-23 tells us that, if we keep the Lord’s word and love Him, we will be loved by the Father, and we will have His manifestation.
Even more, the Father and the Son will come and make an abode with us.
This clearly shows us that the many abodes in the Father’s house are the believers in Christ who love the Lord and His word and therefore enjoy the sweet and constant visitation of the Father and the Son with the Spirit.
The Lord didn’t say that He and the Father will come to abide with us but that They will come and make an abode with us; this is very meaningful.
This means that the Father and the Son take the lover of Jesus as Their abode and the believer will be an abode to the Father and the Son with the Spirit.
We want to be those who love the Lord and abide in His word so that we would have the Lord’s visitation and His making an abode with us.
When Christ and the Father with the Spirit make an abode with us, we will no longer be bothered by the sin, the world, Satan, the old man, or the flesh; we will simply be part of God’s habitation, the mutual dwelling place of God and man.
We can testify from our experience that, as we love the Lord and appreciate Him, telling Him that we love Him, He would speak to us concerning a particular thing or a particular matter.
Sometimes the Lord may say, Since you love Me, My commandment is that you do not do this and you do not say that.
We may say, Amen, Lord Jesus; we may be in tears, for we love doing that particular thing or saying that particular word, but we keep the Lord’s word.
As we obey the Lord’s word and keep it, we sense the Lord’s presence; we sense His manifestation within us.
We feel that He is filling us up with Himself, and we are drawn to Him. We abide in Him and He abides in us.
Though outwardly we are limited, for we may not be able to do a particular thing or go to a particular place, we enjoy the Lord’s presence inwardly.
In this way, the Triune God is making an abode with the believers for the building up of His habitation.
We need to experience this all day long.
It is so easy for us to get out of the abiding; even a little gesture or word from someone else, or a particular thing that happens and bothers us can cause us to not abide in the Lord. Oh, Lord!
When we enjoy the Lord in His word and keep His word as He speaks to us within, mainly by telling us to stop and not speak or do something, we enjoy the Lord to the fullest, and we experience His presence.
How sweet it is for us to have the Lord’s visitation by loving Him and keeping His word! We may be in tears as we obey Him, but we treasure His indwelling presence, for He is the most precious One to us.
Furthermore, as we enjoy the Lord’s visitation, we have the realization that we have no problem with any believer but rather, we love all the saints and we want to be built up with them.
We will desire to be one with the others for God’s building.
We are ready to forgive others and to ask for their forgiveness, for we love the Lord and we treasure His sweet visitation.
We all can testify that this has been our experience so many times.
We may have had a problem with a particular brother or sister, but then we touched the Lord together, and we obeyed His inner commandment to love one another, and we forgave the other and simply loved them for the building up of the church.
May we all treasure the Lord’s inner presence, His visitation, and may we obey His word to keep His commandment so that we may have the Lord’s visitation!
The building up of God’s habitation depends on such an experience by all the believers in Christ.
The way that the Lord does His building work among us is not by organization, regulation, or outward teaching; it is by our loving the Lord and experiencing His manifestation and His abiding with us.
As we love the Lord and abide in His word, He has a way to speak something to us, and we keep His commandment; this brings in the Lord’s visitation, and the Triune God is making His abode with us for the building of His habitation.
Lord Jesus, we love You and we love Your word. We open to You. We come to You in Your word to just enjoy You and partake of Your riches. Amen, Lord Jesus, we treasure Your indwelling and Your visitation. Visit us today. We say Amen to Your speaking. We say Amen to Your exposing and enlightening. Grant us to cooperate with You and obey Your word, taking heed to Your commandment. Oh Lord Jesus, we treasure Your presence. Fill us with Yourself. Draw us to Yourself. We want to abide in You so that You may abide in us. Keep us in Your presence. We love You, Lord, and we love all the saints. We are willing to forgive the saints and let go of any offenses, for we treasure Your sweet visitation! Smen, Lord Jesus, we say Amen to Your inner speaking. Though in tears we’re obeying, we love You and we want the Father and the Son with the Spirit to come and make an abode with us! Amen, Lord Jesus, we love You! We love to have Your manifestation!

– Thou art God, yet flesh becamest, / God with man in Thee doth dwell; / Thou, the Temple for His glory, / God in Thee Himself doth tell. / Thus the Church too is the mingling / Into one of God and man; / So it is with every member / For the building of God’s plan. (Hymns #834 stanza 7)
– Dear Lord Jesus, precious Jesus, / Thy way only will I choose; / Though in tears while I’m obeying, / Yet I would not change my standing; / All I long for is Thy pleasure, / And the peace Thy love would bring. (Hymns #1158 stanza 4)
– I am crucified with Jesus, / And He lives and dwells with me; / I have ceased from all my struggling, / ’Tis no longer I, but He. / All my will is yielding to Him, / And His Spirit reigns within; / And His precious blood each moment / Keeps me cleansed and free from sin. / I’m abiding in the Lord / And confiding in His word; / I am hiding in the bosom of His love. / Yes, abiding in the Lord / And confiding in His word, / I am hiding in the bosom of His love. (Hymns #564 stanza 2 and chorus)
The Triune God’s making His abode with the believers is for the building of His habitation. Whenever you have had the sweet sensation that you were in the presence of the Lord and that the Lord was indwelling you to the fullest, you also had the feeling that you loved all the believers. According to your realization at the time, you had no problem with any believer, and you were ready to forgive every brother’s or sister’s fault…This is the desire to be one with the believers for God’s building…The building of God’s habitation among men on earth today is altogether dependent upon this experience. Perhaps two brothers have a problem with each other. What can solve it? It is not easy to do. One day they both begin to love the Lord, and they have a deep and sweet appreciation of Him. The Lord gives them a commandment, and they take it. Immediately, they are both in the Lord’s presence, and the problem is over. This is the way in which the Lord does the divine work of building among us. It is not a matter of organization, regulation, or outward teaching. It is absolutely a matter of our loving the Lord and experiencing His manifestation and His abiding with us. (Life-study of John, 2nd ed., pp. 367-369)
The Triune God is our dwelling place and we have been made a dwelling place for Him.
By being in Christ we are also in the Father and the Spirit. However, this only becomes our reality to the extent that we love the Father and the Son.
If we love Christ and keep His word, He, the Father and the Spirit will come to us and make an abode with us.
May the Lord’s empowering grace cause us to run after Him and to love Him…
