Although the subject of 1 and 2 Peter is God’s government, this is not the central focus and basic structure of these Epistles, which is the Triune God as our full enjoyment to carry out the economy of God. Amen!
Everything concerning God’s government should bring us back to the central focus and basic structure of these Epistles, which is the energizing Triune God operating in His economy to bring us, His chosen ones, into the full enjoyment of the Triune God for the fulfilment of His economy. Wow, Amen!
It is one thing to see the government of God, and it is something else to see the central focus of what God is doing today.
Nebuchadnezzar, a pagan king, realized that God is on the throne, and he worshipped God, realizing that the heavens do rule.
However, he never saw God’s economy, nor was he part of what God was doing on earth.
The people in the world may meet God’s government and may be touched by God’s authority, but they can never participate in the carrying out of God’s economy or be a stepping stone for God’s move unless they are regenerated to enter into the process of God’s full salvation.
How privileged we are today as believers in Christ!
On the one hand, we realize that we are human beings, creatures of God, those created in God’s image and according to His likeness, and we submit ourselves to God as the unique supreme authority.
On the other hand, we can be one with God for the fulfilment of His economy so that He can carry out His purpose and accomplish what is in His heart! How amazing is that! Wow!
It is not good enough for us to merely see that God has a government; it is good to see this, and we should live in a proper fear of God, especially fearing losing His presence today and His reward in the next age.
But our Christian life is not a life in fear, nor is it a life under the scary thought that God will one day punish us. No!
We are regenerated human beings, children of God, and citizens of the kingdom of God; we are now active participants in the fulfilment of God’s eternal economy!
We thank and praise the Lord for revealing to us what is in His heart.
Our eyes have been unveiled to see that God has an economy, and even the government of God is so that we may be brought back to the economy of God, that is, for us enjoy the Triune God and experience Him so that we may be built up together as His house for the fulfilment of His purpose. Hallelujah!
The Central Focus and Basic Structure of 1 and 2 Peter: The Triune God is our Full Enjoyment to Carry out the Economy of God
Many believers read Peter’s epistles and are naturally inclined to believe that the central focus and basic structure of these epistles is the government of God with His judgment.
Apparently, this is what these epistles speak of, for again and again we are shown how God judges, governs, and deals with all negative things and persons.
However, although the subject of 1 and 2 Peter is God’s government with His judgment, this is not the central focus and basic structure of these Epistles.
We need to see God’s government with His judgment, but everything concerning God’s government should bring us to one thing: the Triune God as our full enjoyment to carry out the economy of God. Amen!
This is the central focus and basic structure of 1 and 2 Peter.
In 1 Peter only one and a half chapters are crucial in relation to life: chapter 1 and chapter 2 until verse 11.
Then there is also Peter’s word in 5:10, where Peter said that the God of all grace, who called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after we have suffered a little while, will Himself perfect, establish, strengthen, and ground us.
The central focus and basic structure of 1 and 2 Peter can be seen in these portions.
In 1 Pet. 1 we see the operation of the Triune God for His full salvation.
1 Pet. 1:2 tells us of the foreknowledge of God the Father, the sanctification of the Spirit, and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.
The Triune God works together as one in order to carry out His economy, and it is as the Father, the Son, and the Spirit that He reaches us to make the Triune God as our full enjoyment to carry out the economy of God.
The Father chose us according to His foreknowledge, the Son redeemed us and sprinkled us with His precious blood, and the Spirit sanctifies us.
The Triune God operates in His Divine Trinity in order to carry out God’s full salvation.
The Father regenerated us unto a living hope (v. 3). Hallelujah!
The Father operates, the Son is working, and the Spirit is applying what the Father and the Son have and are to us in our experience.
God’s government is present, but this government of God is for us as believers in Christ to be brought back to the central focus and basic structure of 1 and 2 Peter, the Triune God as our full enjoyment to carry out the economy of God.
We can testify from our very experience that, even in the way that we got saved, the Triune God operated in our environment and in our being to arrange all things in His sovereignty and according to His government so that we may be saved.
He arranged particular situations, specific people, and a particular inner situation and condition so that we may be open to Him and He would dispense Himself with His life and nature into us.
The Spirit operated in our environment to sanctify is and bring us back to God, even to bring us into a particular state in which we are open to Him for His divine dispensing.
The Son sprinkled us with His blood and gave His life to us, imparting into us the divine life.
The Father chose us according to His foreknowledge and regenerated us unto a living hope.
Now as believers in Christ, we are under the constant daily divine dispensing of the Divine Trinity, keeping our being open to Him so that the Father, the Son, and the Spirit would operate in us and around us for the fulfilment of His eternal economy. Hallelujah!
We were chosen to be holy before the foundation of the world; before the universe was created, God the Father chose us to be holy.
The Son came in time to be a man, and as a perfect Man, He shed His blood to redeem us and cleanse us.
And the Spirit sanctifies us. His sanctification is threefold, having three main aspects.
First, the Spirit satisfies us by arranging all things in order to cause us to come to the Lord and repent.
This is similar to the woman who lost a coin and, lighting a lamp, sweeps the house and searches for it until she finds it (Luke 15:8-10).
The Spirit shines on us through the Word of God to search us, enlighten us, and find us to bring us back to the Lord, and we repent and believe into the Lord Jesus.
This is His seeking sanctification.
The second aspect is the Spirit’s positional sanctification, by the blood of Jesus Christ; we are sanctified by the sprinkling of the blood of Christ.
And the third aspect is the dispositional sanctification of the Spirit, which is inward, in our nature, by the dispensing of the divine element into us and the discharge of our natural element to make us as holy as God is holy. Hallelujah!
Lord Jesus, unveil us to see the Triune God as our full enjoyment to carry out the economy of God! Hallelujah, the Father foreknew us and chose us, the Son sprinkled us with His blood, and the Spirit sanctified us to bring us to God, and now we believe into Christ and are children of God! Praise the Lord, the Triune God works in His Divine Trinity to choose, sanctify, and regenerate us to make us God-men, those who have God’s life and nature! Praise the Lord for the central focus and basic structure of 1 and 2 Peter, the Triune God as our full enjoyment to carry out the economy of God! Amen, Lord, we open to You today! We open to Your divine dispensing. We open to the seeking sanctification of the Spirit, who is shining on us through the Word of God to find us and bring us back to God! We open to You and we apply the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus so that we may come to God the Father and enjoy His riches in His house! Amen, Lord, may we realize that God’s government with His judgment is to bring us back to the Triune God as our full enjoyment for the fulfilment of God’s eternal economy!
As Regenerated Ones, we enjoy God’s Full Salvation and are Built as His Spiritual House
In 1 Pet. 2:1-11, we see a wonderful portion that shows us the central focus and basic structure of 1 and 2 Peter.
We have been regenerated by God, and now we need to put away all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envyings and all evil speakings (v. 1).
As newborn babes, we need to long for the guileless milk of the word in order by it we may grow unto salvation (v. 2), since we have tasted that the Lord is good (v. 3). Hallelujah!
As regenerated ones, we now long for the milk of the word of God so that, by drinking it, we may grow unto salvation.
We daily come to the Lord’s word to enjoy Him, drink Him, and be nourished with Him.
In this way, we as regenerated ones enjoy God’s full salvation; the way we partake of this full salvation is by drinking the milk of the word.
And as we drink the milk of the Word, we are being transformed into precious stones.
We come to the Lord as a living stone, and we are being transformed to be the same as He is, for we become living stones (v. 4-5).
He is a living stone, and we become living stones, being built up as a spiritual house into a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
In 1 Pet. 1 we see that we believers have been regenerated and that God’s full salvation is our portion; in ch. 2 we see how to enjoy and partake of this wonderful salvation so that we may built up as a spiritual house.
May we daily come to the Lord in His word to drink the guileless milk of the word so that we may grow unto salvation, partaking of God’s full salvation.
Amen, the Triune God is our full enjoyment to carry out the economy of God, and we cooperate by coming to the word of God to drink the milk of the word, grow in life, and be built up together!
On the one hand, the spiritual house of God is God’s dwelling place; on the other hand, this building tells forth the virtues of God, expressing what God is.
As we personally and individually drink the milk of the word, we grow unto salvation and are being transformed, and corporately we are built up into a spiritual house to express what God is and be His dwelling place.
Hallelujah, we are being built up together corporately to afford God a dwelling place and to tell out God’s virtues, that is, express Him!
This is the central focus and basic structure of the Epistles of 1 and 2 Peter.
May we see that the central focus and basic structure of 1 and 2 Peter are the Triune God operating to accomplish His complete salvation and gain His building.
God operates in us in His Divine Trinity to accomplish His complete salvation so that we may be regenerated, so that we may feed on His word, and so that we may grow, be transformed, and be built up for Him to have a dwelling place, and so that we may be glorified to express Him (1 Pet. 1:23; 2:1-5, 9)! Hallelujah!
May the Lord bring us into this central focus and basic structure so that we may realize that He as the Triune God operates and does all things in order to gain a corporate expression of Himself in humanity!
The Triune God operates to accomplish His full salvation for us, the believers in Christ, to be regenerated, feed on His word, grow in life, be transformed, and be built up so that God may have a spiritual house, a dwelling place that tells forth His virtues and magnifies Him. Praise the Lord!
Lord Jesus, thank You for regenerating us with Your life to make us children of God and bring us into the enjoyment of God’s complete salvation! Hallelujah, have been regenerated, we are now newborn babes longing for the guileless milk of the Word so that by it we may grow unto salvation! Amen, Lord, we come to You in Your word and we exercise our spirit to drink the guileless milk of the word so that by it we may grow unto salvation. Grow in us today. Transform us into Your image and make us the same as You are. Amen, Lord, we come to You, a living stone, to be transformed and built up as living stones into Your building, Your spiritual house. Hallelujah, we as living stones are being built up as a spiritual house into a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ! Amen, Lord, grow in us, transform us, and build us as Your spiritual house to be Your dwelling place and to tell forth Your virtues!

How wonderful it is to see that the central focus and basic structure of 1 and 2 Peter are not God’s government but rather, the Triune God as our full enjoyment to carry out the economy of God!
The Triune God operates in us for His full salvation: the Father foreknew us, the Spirit sanctifies us, and the Lord Jesus sprinkles us with His blood.
Now we long for the guileless milk of the word to grow unto salvation and be transformed into precious stones for God’s building, His corporate expression.
Amen, the central focus of 1 Peter is regeneration, feeding on salvation and the application of the spirit as living stones for God’s dwelling and expression.
We need to feed on the word to be transformed into living stones for God’s dwelling and expression.
Judgement for purging to be returned to the enjoyment, hallelujah!
Amen. Lord transform us into your precious stones.
We need to feed on the guileless milk of the word and grow unto salvation.
That is we need to abide in His word and take care of our heart.
Then day by day we will be transformed into the precious stones for the building of God’s dwelling place.
We need to take care of the central focus – the heart – of the epistles of Peter.
Although the subject is the government of God, the focus and basic structure of 1 and 2 Peter is to bring us back to the fullest enjoyment of the Triune God to carry out God’s economy.
Having been regenerated by the Father, redeemed by the Son and sanctified by the Spirit, we must feed on the word to grow unto salvation, to be transformed as living stones to be built up in a corporate way to express God!
We pray that we will go out to tell forth the virtues of the Triune God, to express Him.
This is our full salvation: to be a dwelling place for God and to express Him to humanity.
God’s full salvation is our portion, and this full salvation is being worked out through the Father’s regeneration, the Son’s redemption and the Spirit’s application.
Also, in this salvation, there is a seed: the living & abiding word of God.
We should long for the guileless milk of the word, for it will enable us to grow into a life that’s characterized by holiness & love.
Holiness & love are the issue of God’s full salvation. May we be fully captured for the obtaining of God’s full salvation.
