Who is God? The Bible provides us with the answer to this question, and it shows very clearly that God is the I AM. That means, He is the One who has existed, is now existing, and will forever exist. While everything else in this world has a beginning, He does not. And when everything else in this world ends, He will continue to exist. He never dies, He never ends, and He never fizzles out. This is who God is. He’s the great eternal Being and the one reality in the universe.
A desire to touch God
Within man, there is a desire to touch God as the one reality. At the time of creation, God created man as a vessel to contain Himself. Just as a glass is made to contain water, so man is made to contain God. Thus, there is a deep desire in man for God.
Regardless of your culture, education or interest, there is a yearning within you. This yearning can be described as an inner seeking for something more in life. Many times when you are by yourself at the end of the day, and your friends have all gone home, you sense a void within you. It’s a yearning cry for God, the great I AM. He’s the one reality in the universe and you were made to touch Him and contain Him. And until you do, you will always have this sense of emptiness within.
The hindrance to touching God
Though you are empty within and long to touch God, you have been unable to do so. There is something keeping you from God. This “something” is sin. No one likes to be hateful, lustful or envious. Neither does anyone like to swear and lie. Yet you do it and so you are a sinner in the eyes of God. All men have sinned before God and are thus unable to touch and contain Him. Today your sin is keeping you from God.
It’s simple to touch God
The good news is that just as you desire to find reality and touch God, God desires to touch you! This is why God, one day, came down to earth to be a man. This man is Jesus. Jesus is the real I AM, coming to be your salvation. He came to save you from your sin and thus remove everything that separates you from God. He died on the cross and shed His blood to forgive you and be your salvation.
The way to touch God is now very simple. You just need to repent of your sins and call on His name. When you call “Lord Jesus,” you call on the name of the very God (the Great I AM) who is coming to be your salvation. Those who call on Him experience a living touch with God and discover that He is the one reality in the universe to satisfy their emptiness within.
Simply pray:
Lord Jesus, forgive me of my sins which hinder me from touching You. Thank You for dying for me and thank You for coming to me to be my salvation. Come into me and be the reality of my life.
