Having a Living Touch with the Lord to be Revived and Live the Revival

November 7, 2012 by aGodMan 6 Comments

Having a Living Touch with the Lord to be Revived and Live the Revival [in the picture: John 11:25]Every living thing in the universe desires to be revived and restored, and the entire creation groans and travails in pain together until now, eagerly awaiting to be freed from the slavery of corruption (see Rom. 8:20-22).

Since Adam fell and brought the entire old creation into the fall, there has been in all of creation an aspiration for revival. This is why the revival spoken of in the Minor Prophets can be applied to the whole universe, and particularly to our family life, to the church life, to the nations, and to the entire human race.

In principle, everything and everyone in the universe is in the principle of desolation (see Hosea 6:2) and needs to be renewed, revived, and restored.

Christ is the element of resurrection, and He is the reality of the third day – when we touch the living Christ, we are revived, we are restored, and we enter into the revival! Hallelujah, touch the living Christ!

The Universal Need for Revival is Met Only By Christ

If you look around you, even though you see the nature and the sky being so beautiful, everything is under the slavery of corruption and is subject to decaying and eventually death.

All the things that are under this slavery aspire to be revived, and so do we – we want to be revived and released from the slavery of corruption and of death!

As 2 Cor. 4:16 says, we do not lose heart, even though we see that the outer man is decaying – yet, our inner man is being renewed day by day! As we daily touch Christ in resurrection, as we have a day by day morning revival with a fresh supply from the Lord as our resurrection life, we are being revived!

It is only Christ who can meet the need of the entire universe to be revived and restored – Christ is the reality of resurrection (life which overcomes any death) and He is the renewing power!

The Lord Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25) – when we touch Him in a living way, we are being released, freed, and revived!

When the church – as a corporate entity composed of all the being-perfected and continually-growing believers in Christ – is filled with the living Christ and becomes the full reproduction of Christ, at least in a small but enough measure through the overcomers, the Lord will return to restore all things and bring in revival!

Contacting Christ in a Living Way

How can we have a revival? How can we be renewed and revived? Is it just “the outpouring of the Holy Spirit” that we need?

Is there something we can do to cooperate with the Lord in a normal and daily way so that we may have a continual revival?

The way for us Christians to have a revival is to contact Christ in a living way by repenting and confessing our sins, failures, and darkness. When we repent and confess under God’s shining light, we are brought from any desolation and darkness into resurrection and we are revived.

It is here, in resurrection, in this touch of the living Christ, that we have Christ, and the Triune God as the Spirit is being poured out upon us.

Our desperate need today is to contact Christ in a living way that we may be revived!

Many times we feel we are so dead, or sometimes we may feel absolutely nothing; but as we come under the Lord’s light, we realize how far from the Lord we are, how much we are in ourselves, and how little we are for the Lord.

It all starts with such a personal touch with the Lord in which we are real with Him, we open to Him, and we even weep before Him as He touches us. We need to tell the Lord,

Lord, I want to be real with You. I open to You right now. I want to come to You in a definite way that I may meet You and that You may meet me. Lord, I am here to be searched by You, touched by You, and broken by You. Revive me, Lord!

Having A Living Touch with the Lord Daily

It is in a living touch with the Lord that we realize that a spiritual person is not a religious or a church-going one, but one who touches the living Christ in his spirit.

In this living touch with Christ we read the Scriptures not with our mind mainly but with our spirit, that we may touch the living word of God.

We all need to come to the Lord in a definite, purposeful way, not to pray for things or people but to meet the Lord and to be met by Him.

Day by day and morning by morning we need to come to the Lord to touch Him, be enlightened by Him, be met and searched by Him, and be revived by Him.

Daily, we need to live in a living contact with our living Lord who is the Spirit with our spirit.

Revival starts with us – it starts with me. I need to be revived. I need to touch the Lord in a living way, that I may be revived. Out of this living touch with my living Lord, there will be a revival in my being and also in those I come in contact with!

Lord, continue to shine on us! We don’t want to let You go until we are revived and fully brought into revival! We want to have a living touch with You every day. Save us from being religious or superficial. Lord, we need You! We want to touch You personally and intimately that we may be revived and vitalized!

  • Further reading: recommending pages 35-36 in, Contacting the Lord, being filled in Spirit, and having proper Christian meetings for the accomplishment of God’s eternal purpose (by brother Witness Lee), where we see his experience of being revived by the Lord through a living touch with Him daily.
  • Hymns on this topic:
    # For the glorious revelation / Of the sons of God to come, / All the creatures wait, expecting, / That they all may free become.
    # So many times we are so weak, / But Someone deep within / Supplies the very help we need, / And we’re upheld by Him.
    # Just one touch of You, dear Lord, / Just one look into Your eyes, / Just one kiss from You, / You’re all I need, my Love.

The way to have the revival we need is to contact Christ, repenting and confessing our sins, failures, and darkness. By doing this we are brought from the desolation of the two days to the resurrection of the third day. Whenever we are in desolation we need such a revival. We need to come to the third day, and the third day is nothing other than the person of the resurrected Christ with the reality of revival. In addition, we have the outpouring of the Triune God as the consummated, all-inclusive, life-giving Spirit, and our spirit responds by being stirred up. (Life-study of Malachi, pp. 24-25)

In this universe, there is a need for revival. Since the fall, everything and everyone is old. Rom. 8:21-22 says that the whole creation groans, being under the slavery of corruption.

As beings born in the the old creation, we're not exempt from this corruption. Our physical body is getting older every day. But, praise the Lord, as believers, reborn in the new creation we've received the One who is the factor of revival–Christ, who is the resurrection. As the life-giving Spirit, He infuses Himself as the element of revival into us whenever we contact Him.

Yes, revival starts with me! We can do this by having a living touch with the Lord every day–especially in the morning. May we all aspire to have such a genuine morning revival each day. In this way we all cooperate with the Lord to bring the final revival to end this age!
