The Spirit of Jesus Christ who “was not yet” in John 7:39 is Our Bountiful Supply Today!

Phil. 1:19 For I know that for me this will turn out to salvation through your petition and the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

We praise the Lord for the truth in the Bible and for the recovery of the proper interpretation of the truth concerning the Spirit as the consummation of the Triune God.

God became a man, lived a perfect human life on earth, died on the cross, and entered into resurrection to become “the Spirit” which can be received by us and enjoyed by us (John 7:37-39).

Yes, the Spirit of God was there from the beginning, and the Holy Spirit was also there – but “the Spirit” as in, the Spirit of Christ, and, the Spirit of Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:19) was not yet before the Lord’s resurrection, His glorification.

Brother Andrew Murray wrote in his book, The Spirit of Christ, concerning the fact that the Spirit in John 7:39 includes God, man, humanity, divinity, death, and resurrection – everything is included in “the Spirit”!

Today we need to stand on the proper interpretation of the Word of God and strongly proclaim that the Spirit is the consummation of the Triune God, and the Spirit is a compounded Spirit!

As Exodus 30 shows us in type, in the Spirit after Christ’s resurrection we now have God the Spirit (the oil), humanity (four spices), Christ’s death with its repelling power, and Christ’s resurrection with its effectiveness (the intrinsic significance of the four spices).

Today God is the Spirit as the compound ointment, an all-inclusive dose for us to enjoy, drink, apply, and take in, and He will not only meet our need and fill us with God but also accomplish God’s economy in and through us! Everything we need is in the compound Spirit, the all-inclusive life-giving Spirit with its bountiful supply!

The Spirit of Jesus Christ “was not yet” (John 7:39)

In John 7:37 the Lord Jesus sounded out a call to all those who are thirsty to come to Him and drink, and out of their inner being will flow rivers of living water. This He said concerning the Spirit, which was not yet because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Many Bible translators add “the Spirit was not yet given” since it doesn’t make sense to them that “the Spirit was not yet”. However, in the Recovery Version and in the versions that stick to the literal translation of this verse we see clearly that “the Spirit was not yet”. “The Spirit was not yet” means that, before Christ’s resurrection (which was His glorification, Luke 24:26), the Spirit in the sense of the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9) and the Spirit of Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:19) was not yet.

The Spirit of God was there from the beginning (Gen. 1:1-2) including only divinity. But God went through a process when He became a man, and in this process He was “compounded” with all kinds of elements to be “the Spirit of reality” and simply “the Spirit”. All the elements of Christ’s incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection, together with His divine and human element were “compounded” into the compound Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

This is not merely “a doctrine” or someone’s own interpretation; check with Andrew Murray’s “The Spirit of Christ” in the chapter on, “The Spirit of the Glorified Jesus”. His conclusion of the study of the Bible was that in the Spirit of this resurrected Christ there are the elements of Christ’s humanity, His death, and His resurrection.

In the Spirit of God or the Spirit of Jehovah there was only divinity, but after passing through the processes of incarnation, human living, crucifixion, and resurrection, all these elements have been added to the Spirit making it “a compound Spirit”.

In Exo. 30:23-25 we see that God gave Moses specific instructions on how to make the holy anointing ointment with olive oil and four kinds of spices. The Spirit is the oil, and the four spices typify Christ’s humanity, His death, and His resurrection, together with their effectiveness.

Through the Lord’s glorification in His resurrection, the Spirit of God became the Spirit of the incarnated, crucified, and resurrected Jesus Christ, which Paul calls, the Spirit of Jesus Christ (with a bountiful supply).

The All-Inclusive Compound Life-Giving Spirit is our Bountiful Supply!

We need to see a vision of the Spirit as the compound Spirit. In this Spirit is all we need. All the positive things in the universe are in this Spirit. This Spirit is the blessing promised to Abraham by God (Gal. 3:14). God doesn’t give us anything apart from and except the Spirit. In this Spirit is Christ’s divinity, His perfect humanity, His death, and His resurrection.

The first four books of the New Testament (the Gospels) speak of Christ (as the Son with the Father by the Spirit); the remaining 23 books of the New Testament speak of the Spirit (as the Son with the Father), the consummation of the Triune God.

When we are born again, this life-giving Spirit imparted life to our spirit (Rom. 8:11), and now He is continually imparting life to our soul to fill us with life (Rom. 8:6). This life-giving Spirit is an all-inclusive compound Spirit, and in this Spirit we have everything we need.

Do you need peace? Exercise your spirit to enjoy the bountiful supply of the Spirit. Do you need joy, patience, wisdom, and strength? Contact the all-inclusive compound Spirit who is with your spirit. We don’t have to worry about anything – we simply need to exercise our spirit to enjoy the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ!

In the Spirit there’s the real mending, and we need to take Him in, enjoy Him, and experience Him. When we exercise our spirit and enjoy the compound Spirit, the medicine will go right to where it needs to go, and the bountiful supply will strengthen us, nourish us, and sustain us to live a life for God’s economy.

We need to enjoy a dose of the all-inclusive life-giving compound Spirit every day! On His side, God went through a long process to be consummated as the compound life-giving Spirit; on our side, we open and receive, enjoy, and experience this Spirit with its bountiful supply!

Paul was supplied bountifully by this Spirit even in prison, firmly believing that his situation would turn out to his salvation (Phil. 1:19-21). In whatever situation we are in, we need to enjoy the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ so that we may be saved much more in His life!

How can we enjoy this supply? We can call on the name of the Lord – oh, Lord Jesus (Rom. 10:12-13)! We can pray-read the word of God (Eph. 6:17). We can pray to fellowship with the Lord and absorb Him (Matt. 6:9-13). We can sing with grace in our heart to the Lord (Col. 3:16). There are so many ways to simply open to the Lord, turn to Him, exercise our spirit, and enjoy the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ – our only need!

Thank You Lord for passing through a long process to become the life-giving, compound, all-inclusive Spirit who now is with our spirit. Lord, Your bountiful supply as the Spirit of Jesus Christ is all that we need. Cause us to see a vision of what You are today, and make us those who experientially know and enjoy the bountiful supply. Lord, we need You! Keep us in Your word. Keep us saying Amen to Your speaking. We want to call on Your name. We open to You in prayer. Lord, in many ways and at all times, keep supplying us with Your bountiful supply as the Spirit of Jesus Christ!
