seeds of the gospel: A Talk with the President of the USA – Mr. President, Jesus is Lord!

I think that by now everyone heard about this incident/story, but it never ceases to amaze me how simple it is to be a seed of the gospel – our Christian life is a life of just enjoying the Lord! As we enjoy Him, without trying to do a lot of things for Him, He will just flow out of us – this enjoyment is overflowing, bubbling, and flowing out!

Christ will flow to the other ones around us, to our near family members, or to our classmates and teachers, or even to our superiors / the authorities above us. With some of us, Christ may flow even… towards the president of the United States, Barrack Obama. Here’s Tim’s testimony(as posted on ageturners.com via A Talk with the President):

By the Lord’s arrangement and only to His eternal glory, I was placed in the first seat of the first row in “A Conversation with President Obama” hosted by MTV on Thursday, October 14, 2010. The time included several pre-screened questions by various students addressing a variety of topics.

During one of the commercial breaks I introduced myself to the President and we spoke of my education, career path, etc. In the days leading up to the event, I had some serious feeling and prayer to have the opportunity to say something to the the President, and just before he was about to leave and shake a student’s hand, I stopped him and told him that I need to tell him something. I said “Mr. President, Jesus is Lord!” He stopped, looked very intently at me, and suddenly his entire guard went down- he was no longer the President- he was just another human being. “That’s right, that’s right,” he stated. Then, moving his hand onto my shoulder he genuinely said “pray for me, really pray for me,” to which I responded, “Amen, I will.”

A freshman from the University of Maryland was so touched and said “I want that” because my “faith was so strong and real.” She wants to get in contact with the campus work at Maryland.

On his way out, President Obama saw me, walked back and said “thanks.” It was simple, but it indicated that something registered within him. I’m not sure what will happen, but I look to the Lord in prayer about our President. It was absolutely nothing I did, but only the indwelling Christ speaking. Thank you, Lord Jesus!

Lord, may we grasp the opportunities You give us to enjoy You and allow You to speak something in us and through us! Make us seeds of the gospel, Lord!
