Being Revived and Mingling our Praying with our Reading to Receive Light!

To be revived is simply to be touched by the Lord anew. Whenever the Lord touches us, we are revived. In only two minutes the Lord can touch us and revive us. Witness LeeThe night before, I usually pray to the Lord to wake me up in the morning. I don’t usually wake up late, but I still want to ask the Lord to wake me up at specific times in the morning.

This is how I started to have a personal time with Him in the morning, and until now this has been my practice. I am still surprised and even amazed that the Lord has always been faithful in waking me up at those specific times.

The first thing I do, as probably most believers do, is to call on the name of the Lord. That is the simplest way to touch the Lord. A few years ago, at a local perfecting meeting, I was deeply impressed with this quote by Witness Lee:

To be revived is simply to be touched by the Lord anew. Whenever the Lord touches us, we are revived. In only two minutes the Lord can touch us and revive us. (The Exercise and Practice of the God-ordained Way, Chapter 28, Section 4)

In only two minutes! This phrase stuck with me until now. I am not required to “finish” today’s portion of the Holy Word for Morning Revival booklet. In just two minutes I can be revived! The main thing in practicing the morning revival is to be revived in the morning.

However, many times I would unconsciously substitute this with just merely reading through the day’s portion. I have to ask myself,

Were you revived this morning? Have you touched God? Had God touched you?

In my practice, when the verses for the day’s portion are hard to chew and digest, I would go to the outline of the day’s portion and pray over them. In that way, I would get more light. As I am pray-reading, oftentimes, light will come, resulting in me having to confess my sins. Just read and pray, pray and read.

I would also mingle my reading with calling on the name of the Lord. Then before going to work me and my family would come together and enjoy the day’s portion together.

In preparation for the Lord’s Day prophesying, I find it very helpful to listen to the audio messages that were spoken during the conference or training.

Then on Saturday night, I have to spend some time to review and re-read the outline of the message. In reviewing the outline I keep the same principle, as I read – I pray. I think you would be surprised how much light and revelation you can get by just going through the outline!

If you still have much time, you could also read the reference verses in the outline. All of these will help you get a better overview of the message for the week.
