God is the King of the ages, the One with absolute authority for eternity, who never changes; Christ is our King reigning in our hearts, and we live under His kingship. Amen!
On one hand, what we see in Judges is lawlessness, immorality, rebellion, corruption, and rottenness; on the other hand, we as believers in Christ take the lead to take Christ as our King, Lord, Head, and Husband today.
In the church life today we need to be delivered from the lawlessness portrayed in Judges, and we need to live under the rule of God in the kingdom of God and to do the will of God.
The situation of degradation, corruption, and rottenness seen in Judges can also be seen today in Christianity, to the extent that many choose not even to consider believing in God because they see how the “Christians” live and what do they do. But we can be delivered from this lawlessness and we can be brought in the kingdom of God to live under the Lord’s kingship, allowing Him to be the King in us.
We need to be delivered, we can be delivered, and we will be delivered from the lawlessness seen today and portrayed in Judges, and we will live under the rule of God in the kingdom of God.
And the proof of this is that we do the will of God – we don’t do our own will, we don’t do what we want, but we do the will of God.
We are not people who don’t have a king and do each what is right in his own eyes; we have a King, His name is Jesus, and we enthrone Him – He’s the King of the ages, and He is reigning in our hearts today!
Even though the church is in decline and the general situation in Christianity today is quite disappointing, we are not discouraged, but we have an absolute assurance that the very God whom we believed is the King of the ages, the One who has the absolute authority for eternity! And He never changes!
We may change, people around us may change, the government may change, and society may change, but our God never changes.
There is so much satanic chaos in the world today in the outward situation, but there is a divine economy going on within us that will triumph over this satanic chaos.
We simply need to remain one spirit with the Lord, taking Him as our King and being under His kingship; we need to allow Him to reign in our heart and enjoy Him as the King of the ages who has absolute authority for eternity. Hallelujah!
Our God is the King of the ages, the One with Absolute Authority for Eternity, who Never Changes
1 Tim. 1:17 is a wonderful encouraging verse – here we see that our God is the King of the ages, incorruptible, invisible, the only God, who has all the glory and honor forever and ever. Hallelujah!
Ages here actually means eternity; though Paul was in prison and the situation around him was dire, though the churches began to decline and many left his ministry, he still trusted in the King of the ages who has absolute authority for eternity and who never changes!
Some of Paul’s co-workers left him, some churches forsook his ministry, and degradation was creeping into the church; yet Paul had a strong faith with an absolute assurance that the very God whom he believed, the One who had entrusted him with the gospel of glory, is the King of the ages. Amen!
The God we believe in is the King of the ages! The God in whom we believe and whom we serve, the God who is being dispensed into us constantly day by day, this One is the King of the ages, the King of eternity (2 Cor. 13:14).
Right now, day by day, there is a divine dispensing going on – God in Christ as the Spirit is dispensing Himself into us; this One is the King of the ages.
The Lord, by His dispensing, is establishing His government in our heart. Christ was born to be the King, a Ruler who will shepherd God’s people; now He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords (Matt. 2:2, 6; Rev. 19:16; 17:14).
In Matt. 2 we see that He is the King, and He came to shepherd His people.
The people in power today, the politicians, the MPs (in the UK), the government, and the presidents and prime ministers, none of them are dispensing life into people, and none of them is shepherding the ones they lead.
According to Prov. 22:1, the heart of the king is in the hands of the Lord as rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wills.
All the kings and lords and authorities are under Christ as the King of the ages, the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
We do not look at what we see and we don’t focus on what the people in authority today do and say; we look to the King of the ages, and we allow Him to dispense Himself into us to rule over us as His kingdom.
As the King, Christ is Jehovah God, and He is also a man (Psa. 24:8, 10).
When He comes as the King in manifestation, He will come as both God and man – He will come as the God-man.
According to Isa. 16:5, the all-inclusive Christ is the King reigning in the tent of David; we may think that this doesn’t relate to us, for it refers to Christ reigning in the tent of David in the coming age during the restoration of the nation of Israel, but we can have a foretaste today.
We are today in the age of grace (Heb. 6:5), and we can enjoy Christ as the reigning One in the tent of David, allowing Him to reign and rule in our heart.
May we not look at the corruption, rottenness, degradation, and decline around us – may we set our eyes on the King of the ages, the One who is the King of kings and Lord of lords!
When we set our eyes on Him we realize that the One we serve truly is the King of the ages, the King of eternity, and He is being dispensed into us to make us His kingdom.
Hallelujah, our God is the King of the ages, incorruptible, invisible, the only God! Praise the Lord, the very God in whom we believe is the King of the ages, the One with the absolute authority for eternity! Amen, Lord, we enthrone You as the King in our heart so that You may rule and reign within us as Your kingdom. You are the Ruler, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, the One who rules and reigns over all for eternity! And as such a One, You are dispensing Yourself into us! Amen, Lord, we open to Your divine dispensing today; dispense Yourself into us to make us Your kingdom, the kingdom of the King of the ages!
Realizing that Christ is our King Reigning in our Hearts and Recognizing the Kingship of Christ in the Local Churches
The fact that Christ is the King of the ages doesn’t only mean that He rules and reigns over all things, all people, all ages, and over the whole universe; it also means that He is the King reigning in our heart.
We need to realize that Christ is our King reigning in our hearts, and we need to realize the kingship of Christ in the local churches, where we live under His kingship (Eph. 3:17; 1 Tim. 3:15; 6:15).
It needs to become real to us that Christ as the King of the ages is the King ruling and reigning in us, in our hearts. This saves us from doing what is right in our eyes.
For us to do what is right in our eyes means that the self is reigning; as believers in Christ, we need to realize that it is not the self who should reign but Christ is the King of the ages, and He is ruling in our heart.
We all need to learn this. We all hope to be raptured as the firstfruits, the overcomers, and we all hope to be in the wedding feast, even to be co-kings in the kingdom.
And it is good to hope and aspire. But hope will not accomplish anything in and of itself. We need to begin to learn and experience what is it like for us to live under the Lord’s kingship in our way of thinking, in our speaking, in our feelings, and in our decisions.
We are still being trained to live in the kingdom of God as kingdom people; in many things, we need to enthrone Him and allow Him to rule and reign in us.
Christ will come as the King of glory – Jehovah of hosts, the consummated Triune God embodied in the victorious and coming Christ, who will reign in God’s eternal kingdom (Psa. 24:7-10).
When He comes, He will come as the King of glory, being manifested for all to see. But now He wants to be the King of glory to us and in us; He wants to be the King of the ages ruling in our being.
He doesn’t rule in us as a dictator or as a tyrant; He is in us as the King of glory who rules in us by shepherding us, and He shepherds us by ruling in us.
He is in all of us patiently developing in us, training us, in a very detailed and thorough way. Our God is very exact, detailed, and thorough, so that, by the time we end our journey – hopefully in rapture – there is the inner witness that we have learned all that we needed to learn.
Christ’s ruling on the throne of David over His kingdom will be first in the millennium and then in the new heaven and new earth for eternity (Isa. 9:7; Luke 1:33 and footnote 1 in the Recovery Version Bible).
In this age, the Lord wants to produce in us the reality of the kingdom of the heavens. He does this primarily by reigning in our whole being, and He reigns in us not by force or coercing us but by making His home in our heart.
Christ as the King of the ages doesn’t invade us, attack us, and subdue us in a forceful way; He is making His home in our heart until we yield to Him and allow Him to subdue us and train us to know Him as the eternal King with all authority.
As He makes His home in our heart, we recognize His kingship in us, and we realize that He is the King of glory, the King of the ages, and He rules and reigns within us.
Isa. 16:5 says that there will be a throne established in lovingkindness, and upon it, One will sit in truth in the tent of David. He rules in us in lovingkindness; not with a rod of iron but with a shepherding heart, a tender heart, lovingly caring for us.
We may fail and expect Him to smash us or discipline us, but He rules in us in lovingkindness. Christ’s reigning in the tent of David signifies consolation, encouragement, and restoration.
When His throne as the King of the ages is established in us, there will be consolation, encouragement, and restoration. We need encouragement. We all need consolation.
We all need to be restored. Our Christian life and experience are not that straight, and we need the Lord to come to us and restore us, for many times we backslide and become lukewarm.
We may even go backward a little. Oh, Lord.
But the Lord comes with lovingkindness and reigns in us by consoling us, encouraging us, and restoring us.
Christ’s throne will be established in lovingkindness, tender affection, and He will sit on His throne in truth, that is, in truthfulness and faithfulness.
May we allow Christ to reign in us so that He may bring in the kingdom with lovingkindness, truthfulness, faithfulness, justice, and righteousness, with the result that we will become the same as He is in all these virtues.
May we exercise to enthrone Him in our hearts and acknowledge His kingship in us. May we tell Him,
Lord Jesus, we consecrate this day to You: reign in us today. We open our whole inner being to You for You to console us, encourage us, and restore us. Bring our whole being with all our daily activities under Your throne. We love to be ruled by You in lovingkindness and in truth. Cause us to realize that Christ is the King reigning in our hearts. May we recognize the kingship of Christ in the church life, where we live under His kingship. Amen, Lord, we open to Your shepherding and ruling. Make Your home in all our hearts and have a way to rule in our mind, emotion, and will. Be the King over our decisions, desires, thoughts, and wants.
