Let us Look to the Wonderful Jesus to be Infused with Faith and not be Disapproved

...run with endurance the race which is set before us, looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith... Heb. 12:1-2

We need to look to the wonderful Jesus who is enthroned in the heavens to be infused with faith, run the race with endurance, and not be disapproved.

As believers in Christ running the Christian race with endurance, we want to run in such a way that we are not disapproved; therefore, we look away unto Jesus, the most wonderful One, to be infused with Him as our faith and run the race until we obtain the prize. Amen!

The Lord Jesus is the most wonderful One, the immense magnet in this universe, drawing all His seekers to Him.

When we look away to Him from anything else, we are infused with Him and faith rises up in us. Amen!

We run the Christian race not by our own strength, zeal, or desire but by looking away unto Jesus! Jesus is the Author and Perfecter of our faith.

When we look away to Him, faith rises up in us and we continue running the heavenly race in our Christian life.

The Lord Jesus came as God incarnated and He originated faith. He cut the way of faith, pioneered the pathway of faith, and walked in faith and by faith.

He was always looking away from things and people around Him to the Father, spending time with the Father to be infused with the Father and live one with the Father.

The Lord Jesus lived not only a perfect human life to fulfill God’s desire but even more, He lived in the organic union with God the Father, a life by faith, and He opened the way of faith for us all to walk on.

If we look at His life and living on earth, we will be very inspired and touched, for this One was always one with the Father, and His living was so beautiful, aromatic, and wonderful.

People were attracted to Him, not because of His outward beauty but because of Him expressing God and living a life by faith.

This One, this wonderful Jesus, went through death and resurrection, and in resurrection, He became a life-giving Spirit.

As the Spirit, He comes into those who believe into Him to bring them on the heavenly race where they run with endurance by looking away unto Jesus.

Just as the runners in a race look toward the goal and do not pay attention to the left or right, nor are they entangled with this or that thing but run straight forward, so we do in our Christian race.

We need to put away any encumbrance, and we need to put off the sin which so easily entangles us, and run the race with endurance.

On the negative side, we put off the encumbrance and the sin; on the positive side, we look away unto Jesus.

When we look away from all things to Him, He infuses us with the faith we need to run the race.

Then, we run the race with endurance not by our strength but by the faith which the Lord has infused into us and which faith He Himself is in us. Amen!

Run the Race not to be Disapproved but by Looking to Jesus and being Infused with Faith

Do you not know that those who run on a racecourse all run, but one receives the prize? Run in this way, that you may lay hold. And everyone who contends exercises self-control in all things; they then, that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we, an incorruptible. I therefore run in this way, not as though without a clear aim; I box in this way, not as though beating the air; But I buffet my body and make [it] my slave, lest perhaps having preached to others, I myself may become disapproved. 1 Cor. 9:24-27When it comes to running the race, there are particular rules that apply, and if any runner breaks those rules, he is disqualified.

If a runner breaks the rules of the race he is running, he is disapproved, disqualified, and reprobated; no matter how fast he can run and what record he obtains, simply by breaking the rules, he is disapproved and disqualified.

Similarly, in the heavenly race that we Christians run today, there’s a chance that we may be disqualified or disapproved if we do not run the race in a proper way.

Paul ran the race – he began as seen in Gal. 2:2 and 1 Cor. 9:26-27, and later in life he was still running the race, as seen in Phil. 3:5-8, 12-14.

Toward the end of his life, just before his martyrdom, he testified that he had finished the race (2 Tim. 4:7-8).

As he was running the race, he realised that only one receives the prize, and he ran in this way, with a clear aim, so that he may obtain the crown of righteousness, an incorruptible crown. Amen!

We need to realize that our running is not in vain; we do not run and run and run without a goal or prize; rather, we run the race with endurance by looking to Jesus and being freshly infused with Him as faith.

We need to put aside any encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and run in a way that we are not disapproved.

No saved person will perish, but there’s the possibility for him to become disapproved.

How can we become disapproved? We may not be qualified to obtain the prize because we do not run the race with endurance but rather, we’re encumbered and frustrated by many things, and we do not look away unto Jesus.

In Paul’s time, the Hebrew believers were frustrated by paying attention to so many things in the old Jewish religion.

Instead of going on with the Lord and leaving the things of the Jewish religion behind, they were lingering in these things and practicing the things commanded by Moses through the law.

Therefore, Paul encouraged them to run the race with endurance by looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of their faith (Heb. 12:2).

When they look away from the things of the Jewish religion with its ordinances and practices, the Lord Jesus infuses Himself into them to be their faith, their believing ability.

Not that I have already obtained or am already perfected, but I pursue, if even I may lay hold of that for which I also have been laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not account of myself to have laid hold; but one thing [I do:] Forgetting the things which are behind and stretching forward to the things which are before, I pursue toward the goal for the prize to which God in Christ Jesus has called [me] upward. Phil. 3:12-14Today we may not be entangled or frustrated with the things of the Jewish religion or the law, but there may be other things that we allow to hold us down and keep us from running the race.

We need to stretch forward, forget what is behind, and run the race with endurance to obtain the prize!

We need to not only walk but run the race!

May we take heed of the warning in Heb. 12 and be encouraged to run the race!

May we look at the prize and be incentivised by the Lord to run with endurance the race which is before us by looking to Jesus, the One who has cut the way, has arrived at the goal, and who is now infusing us with Himself to be our faith.

May we receive the warning and take the incentive to run the race.

Our faith as believers is not our own faith but Christ entering into us to be our faith (Rom. 3:22; Gal. 2:16).

In ourselves we have only disbelief, but when we look to Jesus, He infuses us with faith. He initiates faith in us.

May we learn to look to Jesus and run the race with endurance, having Him in us as our faith!

Lord Jesus, we look away from all things other than You unto Jesus! Infuse us today with faith so that we may run the race with endurance. Hallelujah, we have a prize – the Christ of God, the full enjoyment of Christ in the coming age, and reigning with Christ. Amen, Lord, we put off any encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us and we run the race with endurance by looking away unto Jesus! We do not want to be disapproved or disqualified from receiving the prize. We want to gain the reward at the end of our race. Keep us running the race today. We do not look at our condition or situation; we look away from ourselves, our environment, and our situation unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith! We turn away from every other object and simply look to Jesus with undivided attention. Lord Jesus, we love You! Lord Jesus, we need You! Lord Jesus, we want to gain You! You are our life and life supply!

Look to the Wonderful Jesus to be Infused with Faith and Run the Race with Endurance

Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down on the right hand of the throne of God. Heb. 12:2

Our Christian life started with us having a glimpse of the wonderful Jesus.

When we heard the gospel and saw this wonderful person, the Lord Jesus Christ, we simply opened to Him, repented, and received Him into us as our life.

Faith comes through hearing and the hearing is through the speaking of the word of God (Rom. 10:17); when we heard the gospel and our heart turned to the Lord, we were infused with faith.

However, this should not be something we did only initially, at the time of our regeneration; we need to keep looking away unto Jesus throughout the day for the rest of our life.

Has at the last of these days spoken to us in the Son, whom He appointed Heir of all things, through whom also He made the universe. Heb. 1:2 Where the Forerunner, Jesus, has entered for us, having become forever a High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek. Heb. 6:20 By so much Jesus has also become the surety of a better covenant. Heb. 7:22 And to Jesus, the Mediator of a new covenant; and to the blood of sprinkling, which speaks something better than [that of] Abel. Heb. 12:24We need to look to the wonderful Jesus as revealed in His word so that we may be infused with faith to run the race with endurance.

It is only by looking to Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Heb. 12:2) that we can run the Christian race.

In the Epistles we see that the Lord Jesus is the One who dwells in our spirit (Rom. 8:10; 2 Tim. 4:22) as the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45), making His home in our heart (Eph. 3:16-17), being formed in us (Gal. 4:19), transforming us into His image (2 Cor. 3:18), living in us (Gal. 2:20), and being our life and life supply.

We can enjoy this indwelling Christ simply by exercising our spirit and calling on His name (Acts 2:21; Rom. 10:10-13).

In the book of Hebrews, however, we see not only the indwelling Christ but the Christ who has sat down in heaven and who has so many aspects and functions in His heavenly ministry.

The heavenly Christ presented in the book of Hebrews is wonderful!

When we look to the wonderful Jesus, we are infused with faith, and we can run the Christian race with endurance.

The way we enjoy the indwelling Christ is by exercising our spirit to contact Him.

The way we enjoy the heavenly Christ is by looking away from all things on the earth to Him!

The wonderful Jesus in His ascension is sitting in the heavens, in the person of the Son of God (Heb. 1:5) and the son of Man (2:6), in the person of God (1:8) and man (2:6), as the appointed Heir of all things (1:2), the anointed One of God (v. 9), the Author of our salvation (2:10), the Sanctifier (v. 11), the constant Succor (v. 16), the instant Helper (4:16), the Apostle from God (3:1), the High Priest (2:17; 4:14; 7:26), the Minister of the true tabernacle (8:2) with a more excellent ministry (v. 6), the surety and the Mediator of a better covenant (7:22; 8:6; 12:24), the Executor of the new testament (9:16-17), the Forerunner (6:20), the Author and Perfecter of our faith (12:2), and the great Shepherd of the sheep (13:20).

Wow, what a heavenly Christ we have! When we look to the wonderful Jesus with undivided attention, we are infused with Him!

When we look away unto this Jesus, He will minister heaven, life, and strength into us.

He will infuse us with all that He is, transfusing us with Himself so that we may be able to run the Christian race with endurance and live the heavenly life on earth!

It is in this way that He will carry us through all the lifelong pathway and lead and bring us as the many sons of God into glory (Heb. 2:10). Hallelujah!

May we all learn to look to the wonderful Jesus who is enthroned in heaven and crowned with glory and honor (v. 9).

He is the greatest attraction in the universe.

When we look to the wonderful Jesus, we are drawn to Him, for He is like an immense magnet drawing us, His many seekers, to Himself.

It is by being attracted by His charming beauty that we look away from all things other than Him.

The Lord Jesus doesn’t come and tell us to give up all our idols, our hobbies, and our soul-life; He reveals Himself to us as the most wonderful One, and we spontaneously look away from all things other than Him.

Draw me; we will run after you - The king has brought me into his chambers - / We will be glad and rejoice in you; / We will extol your love more than wine. / Rightly do they love you. S. S. 1:4 One thing I have asked from Jehovah; / That do I seek: / To dwell in the house of Jehovah / All the days of my life, / To behold the beauty of Jehovah, / And to inquire in His temple. Psa. 27:4It is by His appearing to us that we can put aside all our encumbrances and anything that frustrates us so that we may run the race with endurance.

No teaching, regulation, or exhortation works; it is only by looking away to Jesus, the most wonderful One, that we can run the race with endurance.

It is not a sense of right or duty, but the sight of peerless worth.

It is not the crushing of the idols with its bitter void and smart, but the beaming of the Lord’s beauty, the unveiling of His heart.

The wonderful Jesus is the chief among ten thousand.

We need to be captivated by His beauty so that we joyfully choose Him and put aside anything that hinders us from running the race.

When we have the Lord’s appearing and He draws us in a fresh way, we can run the race with endurance.

Our believing is our appreciation of Christ as a reaction to His attraction.

We need to look away unto Jesus with undivided attention by turning away from every other object (Heb. 12:1-2; S. S. 1:4; Psa. 27:4).

Without such a charming object – the wonderful Jesus enthroned in heaven and crowned with glory and honor – how could we look away from so many distracting things on this earth?

Lord Jesus, we want to look to the wonderful Jesus who is enthroned in heaven and crowned with glory and honor! Amen, Lord, we look away from all things to You. You are the greatest attraction in the universe. You are God and man, and You are the anointed One, the Author of our salvation, the Sanctifier, and the High Priest. You are the MInister and the Surety and Mediator of the new covenant. You are the great Shepherd of the sheep and You minister heaven and the heavenly life into us. Oh Lord, we love You! We want to have a sight of Your peerless worth. We want to enjoy the beaming of Your beauty. Appear to us again and again. Attract us with Your charming beauty. We look away from all things other than You for You are the most charming One! Amen, Lord, we believe into You, for we appreciate You as the most wonderful One! We turn and look away unto Jesus with undivided attention! Lord Jesus, we love You! Draw us, we will run after You!

As Paul was running the race, he said, “I buffet my body and make it my slave, lest perhaps having preached to others, I myself may become disapproved” (1 Cor. 9:27). Although a saved person can never perish, it is quite possible for him to become disapproved. To be disapproved is to fail in the race, missing the opportunity of reaching the goal…The Greek word rendered “disapproved” also means “a reprobate, one not qualified or approved.”…This concept fits in with that of reaching the goal and winning the prize as a reward. But there is the possibility that a runner may be disapproved and not be approved for the reward. In Hebrews 12 Paul was warning the Hebrew brothers and encouraging them, giving them a great incentive to run the race. We, like them, must not only walk the way but also run the race.

To run the race and not become disapproved requires us to look away to Jesus alone.

We need to beware being distracted by earthly things, including religion, ideology & philosophy.

Nothing else matters apart from our majestic Jesus who has accomplished all things and is now sat on the right hand of the throne of God.

All else is vanity & dung.

Every day, we need to turn our hearts to Christ and learn to appreciate His charming beauty until He becomes the magnet that draws us away from all earthly distractions.

Dear brother, to run the heavenly race we need to look away from all earthly things to the heavenly, all- inclusive Christ.

As the Author and Perfecter of our faith He is sat at the right hand of the throne of God in heaven caring for us.

Because He is such a charming, attracting one as long as we look away unto Him we can be saved from the distracting things to run the race to win the prize, the incorruptible crown.

Hallelujah!

06/26/24 Finishing the Course (Week 2, Day 3)

“A Proper Christian Life Involves Running the Course, Running the Race, for the Carrying out of God’s Economy according to His Eternal Purpose (Part 3) We Need to Run with Endurance the Race by Looking Away unto Jesus, Who is: (b.) the Sustainer of Faith”

First Corinthians 9:24-27 says, “Do you not know that those who run on a racecourse all run, but one receives the prize? Run in this way, that you may lay hold. And everyone who contends, exercises self-control in all things; they then, that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we, an incorruptible. I therefore run in this way, not as though without a clear aim; I box in this way, not as though beating the air; but I buffet my body and make it my slave, lest perhaps having preached to others, I myself may become disapproved.” While running his racecource, Paul feared that, having preached to others, he himself might be disapproved.

In 1 Corinthians 9:24, Paul likens himself to one who is running in a race in which one will get the prize when he reaches the goal. Therefore, the problem here is not a matter of salvation, but a matter of receiving the prize. Paul is talking about how a saved one can receive the prize; he is not talking about how an unsaved one can be saved. Only the ones who are saved, who have believed in the Lord Jesus, who are reborn, and who have become the children of God are qualified to enter the race.

Only the children of God can run in the race and pursue the prize that God intends for us to gain. If someone is not a child of God, he will not be qualified even to enter the race. Nowhere does the Bible say that salvation is gained by our running the race. The Bible never says that if someone is able to run, he will be saved. If that were so, then very few could be saved, and salvation would be dependent on works. The Bible says that the prize comes from the running; God has placed us on a racecourse for us to run the race until we receive the prize.

What is the prize? The prize is an incorruptible crown, the crown of righteousness, which qualifies us to rule with Christ for a thousand years during the Millennial Kingdom (1Cor 9:25; 2Tim 4:8; Rev 20:6). What does disapproved in 1 Corinthians 9:27 mean? To be disapproved means to be disqualified from receiving the prize, the incorruptible crown, the crown of righteousness, because we fail from finishing our racecourse when the Lord comes.

After God had put us in our racecourse, we may have run smoothly at the beginning. But after sometime, we began to slow down or stopped running because we have been distracted by our own selves, in our weaknesses and failures, or by other persons, or by our situations. In ourselves, we could not sustain ourselves in running continually our racecource.

In Hebrews 12:2, Paul says, “Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down on the right hand of the throne of God.” Paul’s secret of his continual running the race with endurance was by his looking away from himself and from his environment and into the Lord Jesus (Heb 2:1). Our Lord Jesus, Who Himself had passed through the suffering on the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down on the right hand of the throne of God, is now indwelling within us.

Jesus is, not only the Author of our faith, but He is also the Sustainer of our faith, the continuing faith that enables us to pass through any kind of obstacle and difficulty in order for us to continue running with endurance (John 16:33b; Heb 4:15). Paul was telling the Hebrew believers to look away from all the things in their environment—away from their old religion, Judaism, and its persecution, and away from all earthly things—that they might look unto Jesus, who is now seated on the right hand of the throne of God in the heavens.

This wonderful Jesus, who is enthroned in heaven and crowned with glory and honor (Heb 2:9), is the greatest attraction in the universe. He is like an immense magnet, drawing all His seekers to Him. It is by being attracted by His charming beauty that we look away from all things other than Him. Without such a charming object, how could we look away from so many distracting things on this earth? When we look away unto Jesus, we see Him, and He is infused into us.

To look unto Jesus is to turn to our mingled spirit and contact the Indwelling Christ. The Indwelling Christ is the Heavenly and Acended Christ, Who had passed through every suffering more than we have undergone, and is now sitting on the right hand of the throne of God, which indicates that He is now in complete control over all things in the universe.

In His ascension, He is sitting in the heavens, in the person of the Son of God (Heb 1:5) and the Son of Man (Heb 2:6), in the person of God (Heb 1:8) and man (Heb 2:6), to be;

a.) the appointed Heir of all things (Heb 1:2),

b.) the anointed One of God (Heb 1:9),

c.) the Author of our salvation (Heb 2:10),

d.) the Sanctifier (Heb 2:11),

e.) the constant Succor (Heb 2:16),

f.) the instant Helper (Heb 4:16),

g.) the Apostle from God (Heb 3:1),

h.) the High Priest (Heb 2:17; 4:14; 7:26),

i.) the Minister of the true tabernacle (Heb 8:2) with a more excellent ministry (Heb 2:6),

j.) the surety and the Mediator of a better covenant (Heb 7:22; 8:6; 12:24),

k.) the Executor of the new testament (Heb 9:16-17),

l.) the Forerunner (Heb 6:20),

m.) the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Heb 12:2), and

n.) the great Shepherd of the sheep (Heb 13:20).

If we look unto Him as such a wonderful and all-inclusive One, He will minister heaven, life, and strength to us, transfusing and infusing us with all that He is, that we may be able to run the heavenly race and live the heavenly life on earth with endurance. In this way, He will carry us through all the lifelong pathway and lead and bring us into glory (Heb 2:10).

“Lord Jesus, in ourselves, we do not have the endurance to sustain ourselves in continually running our racecourse. But by looking unto You in our mingled spirit, You would sustain us to run continually with endurance until we finish the course. Amen.”

The Christian life is a race, and we are runners [Heb. 12:1]. Paul also says in 1 Corinthians 9:24, “Do you not know that those who run on a racecourse all run, but one receives the prize? Run in this way, that you may lay hold.” We must not only run, but run successfully in order to obtain the prize. We should not take the time to consider, look around, stand still, or walk slowly. We need to run the race until we can declare, like Paul did in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have finished the course. The prize that the believers win for running the race is an incorruptible crown (1 Cor. 9:25), which is a reward as an incentive. This reward will be given to us according to our works at the Lord’s coming back. (WL)

Ameeen!!!!

Praise the Lord for the example of Paul in running the race, how he began to run the race in Corinthians, how he was still running the race in Philippians and in 2 Tim he told us that he had finished the race.

Oh how we look to the Lord not to be disapproved or to fail in the race, missing the opportunity of reaching the goal. Oh Lord Jesus..

May we give heed to the warning and encouragement of Paul.

Lord Jesus attract us. Be our greatest attraction. May we look away from so many distractings things. May we not regard the things which are seen but the things which are not seen. Be our faith.

Amen! Lord, you are so attracting. Keep us looking at You. How sweet it is to call on your name! Moment by moment keep drawing us to You. Let nothing on earth distract us from You.

The wonderful Jesus, who is enthroned in heaven and crowned with glory and honor (v. 9), is the greatest attraction in the universe. He is like an immense magnet drawing all His seekers to Him. It is by being attracted by His charming beauty that we look away from all things other than Him.Without such a charming object, how could we look away from so many distracting things on this earth?
